I have a Pioneer AVH-1440NEX receiver and a Pioneer ND-BC8 camera.

This camera gets constant power and the receiver has purple and white wire to detect the reverse gear signal. I've already ran the wires for the camera back to the head unit, I really don't want to run another wire back to the tail light to pick up the reverse gear signal. It must be in that bundle of wires next to the driver seat. Does anyone know which one it would be, or a website that would know?

On my vehicle, I ran the power-on wire to switch from a random fuse, and this way you can turn it on and off at will, I find not being able to control it more of a nuisance than not, with it taking over the headunit and all, but perhaps that's just me.

Something to consider though

After looking through the 'av.pdf' of the factory service manual it claims that connector M87, terminal 58 will provide battery voltage when car is in reverse, which happens to be a brown wire. Am I interpreting that correctly?

pg 35 and 54.

Hello would-be helpers,

I just purchased a wireless backup camera to be installed on the rear license plate of my 2009 Rogue. The instruction indicates I need to power the camera via the back up light wire. Could someone assist me with some instructions as to how to gain access to the wire? Which wire (color) is it? I am pretty handy overall and I know how to splice into wires, but I know very little about cars unfortunately . I appreciate any help you can provide.

I would like to pitch the idea of actually wiring it to a switch instead of the reverse wire. This was you get full control at any time! I found it to be very convenient myself, not having to lose my screen every time I threw it into reverse, and also being able to see through it at any time at the flip of a switch.

Just my $0.02

^ Great call.

If you really need it attached to the reverse wire, simply find your white backup lights... unplug one of the sockets (as if you were replacing a bulb). Should be 2 wires - a voltage meter will tell you which one is power and which one is ground. Splice into the power wire and you're done.

Merged with existing topic (same model, year not relevant). Details contained in 2nd post from top.

Thank you everyone! Striped green is positive and striped black is negative. Used military splice and soldered the connection then taped everything and all is well.

Thanks again.
