Soo glad im not out in Ca anymore.

I laughed my *** off when i got some dude popped for a smog check sitting at a light. We were right next to each other, and the cop was directly behind him. My teg had no cat, and reeked like ***. After going through traffic with the same group of cars stop and go at the start of 5 leaving the beach, the cop lit that dude up hehe.

lol one time i was crusing next to a bone stock hyundai tiburon and a CHP was behind the hyundai. After about a minute of cruising the chipper lit the hyundai up for w/e reason. My car has no cat and has a polished, aftermarket-looking exhaust. Just got lucky i guess

Razi! No way bro, i lived in Corona for 6 months! Its not a bad place really, its close to all the good beaches and lots of good jobs(for me at the time at least) close by, naturally. There are so many good looking girls in that whole area its nuts. I lived like 4 min away from that Ferrari dealership. Or its a lambo dealer, some exotic dealership..

Om nom nom snow.Yeah Corona is not that bad, me and my friends might drive over to the mountains and snowboard.

I searched for my wastegate vacuum, boost gauge, etc. and I saw that they should all use the same vacuum source so everything is consistent.

Would it be fine if I hooked up my BOV, Boost gauge, turbo timer's vacuum line, and the wastegate's vacuum line all to the FPR's vacuum hose?

I have a feeling the vacuum would drop since it's spreading out to all the extra accessories, or would it not matter?

The brake booster line is the ideal source of vac for your car. Its a big fat line thats capable of doing everything you need it to do. You should pick up a vac block. You could go the DIY rout, McMaster style.. http://www.mcmaster.com/ctlg/D...82959

I actually used one of those 2 port vac blocks for an inline fuel pressure gauge. Works great.

Then get all the brass or SS fittings from the same page. McMaster can be overwhelming, but if you master it it will save you a ton of money and headaches down the line. Its probably one of the best websites for the DIY minded ever. Seriously, it has everything.

Alright, I'll look into it.As far as I know, I heard the wastegate should be getting it's vacuum from the intercooler, a "charged" section where boost is.So other than that, everything else can get it's vacuum from the brake booster or fpr line correct?

thanks my 240 was hungry that day lol

Razi, i suggest that vacuum block 480 mentioned cuz it will make your life easier and your engine bay looking cleaner. As far as the wg, you can hook it up to any place that will have boost. I have mine hooked up to a brass nipple on the compressor housing of the turbo.

Minor update!I got my intercooler and bottom part of the piping on!!!!I painted it black. And the stock horn position wouldn't work out so I mounted em flat.

:\ My car started to overheat after my intercooler was put on, hopefully a new thermostat and brand new coolant will fix that.I'm thinking about running it with water + 1 or 2 bottles of Redline Water Wetter to keep it cooling better and to prevent corrosion.

Update!I got my manifold on, including my turbo. My oil lines and coolant lines are all ready to go.I just need to get my FMU and my vacuum stuff plugged in, including my BOV flange and oil return bung welded on.

My AC line is pretty close to my turbo elbow, should I wrap it to protect it from the heat? It is fairly close.

it wouldn't hurt, I would wrap it just to be safe.

Is there rusty water in your radiator? If you have some extra money, you should invest in an aluminum radiator. Aluminum dissipates more heat and your stock one may be clogged. The godspeed one's on ebay have good reviews and work great from what I hear.

so far it's lookin good man, I see you got the socal-style fmic (blacked out) lol

You should use every product you possibly can afford to keep engine bay temperatures down. Turbo blankets are a big win, header wrap too. This stuff actually increases your HP and turbo response. More heat goes through the turbine instead of being radiated out through the manifold and turbine housing. Its also good at keeping your car not on fire. Def wrap the AC line, those melt and start fires.

Keep a close eye on everything for the first 200 miles, a really really close eye. After you boost the crap out of it, open your hood and check everything. Do this a few times, the first time just one hard pull and check. Keep a fire extinguisher in your backseat. Your manifold will smoke for a while, this is normal. It will smell a bit when your driving it, should be a temporary thing that will last until your engine bay adapts to the massive amount of additional heat that a turbocharger creates.

Oof, oil pan job. Theres two ways to do it. Iv done it both ways, and would recommend going with the FSM way as long as you have the tools to do it. The FSM way sounds really daunting but in reality its a snap. You can completely loosen the rack and let it just 'dangle' there, it doesnt hurt anything as long as you have followed all the steps the FSM tells you to. You have to support the motor with jackstands, i use the AC and alternator brackets to do this.

The other way is pretty simple, you just take off the motor mount to steering rack nuts, and jack the car up. I like to take off the valve cover to get extra clearance. This way though makes it really damned hard to get the pan back in(and out too) without screwing up your fresh bead of RTV gasket maker.

The oil pickup kicks your *** if you use the second way. You dont have nearly as much clearance to deal with the pan, and you have to take the oil pickup off and put it back on with the pan in your way. I *THINK that if you just lower the cross member you have enough clearance to where this is a non issue. Be VERY careful when you put the oil pickup back together. There is a metal gasket that goes between the oil pickup and the lower timing chain cover/oil pump. Make damn sure you have that thing installed right and torqued down to spec. When you get both bolts in, feel the back of the oil pickup to make sure the gasket hasnt rotated from installing the first bolt. <--- KOd ka number one for me.

Permatex ultra grey is the ish you need to use. Follow the FSM directions, and do this to make sure you get it right the first time. In addition, you want to follow the directions on the back of the permatex tube. Basically, you hand torque(lightly) the oil pan in sequence and wait for 30 min or an hour(read directions), then fully torque it down to 18 NM.

You will need to pick up a swivel 12 mm socket, makes your life a million times easier when doing this job.

The water isn't very rusty, only slightly. I'll hop on an aluminum one once I get some extra money down the road, investing in cooling is never a bad idea.

Haha yep blacked out FMIC, you can't tell unless you shine a bright light into and stare at it for a while.

And thanks 480, I'll definitely wrap my AC lines and I'll probably wrap my turbo elbow too, that thing is really close to the AC lines. Not sure on the manifold, that thing was a ***** and a half to take off and on since the manifold kept hitting my brake lines . We shall see.

About the oil pan, I've really been contemplating between the FSM way and the "lift the engine" way. I'll think on it a little longer, but now I'm leaning more towards the FSM way.

Did you have any problems getting the motor mounts to line up when you tried to put the crossmember back on?

I loosened my motor mounts, jacked the engine up a few inches and dropped my cross member. It was a biotch getting the oil pan out, but some determination and some f bombs later I got it back on

My oil drain has been spraying a misty oil everywhere around the turbo area(kinda slow) and I was wondering if the crank case pressure on boost is causing this. I have my PCV hose vented to the atmosphere but I'm gonna recirculate it to the intake, maybe the massive vacuum in the intake at full boost will keep all the blow-by coming out through the valve cover instead of the oil pan =/ I hope this helps cuz I hate oil leaks
