s14derrick wrote:have you gotten to go for a good long cruise yet? what are all your impressions ?
Impressions: Scary once you hit boost, I'm glad I bought the Blitz Dual Turbo Timer with a boost warning. I'm too busy staring at the road whizzing past me to watch my boost gauge.

And since it is scary I never reached 7-8 psi yet, I don't plan to any time soon.At least until I install my turbo timer and set it to warn me at about 8 or 8.5 psi.

But the turbo kicking in his smooth and sudden, if that makes any sense.I was cruising and I stepped on the go pedal a little bit more and suddenly the turbo started building up pressure and as soon as it hit boost, it felt like something has started to push me faster and faster. (Until I was too scared to go faster)

Looking good so far Razi,

So where is the water temp sensor located on the KA? Mine doesn't work and i've been struggling to even find it right now.
No clue on the location of the stock temp sensor.I was talking about the temp sensor for my Autometer gauge. Hehe.

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific....what i was asking about is the temp sensor for my autometer gauge too.

Edit: At the psi that you have set at...would you know by any chance what is the hp and torque ?....just curious

Ahh I see.I got a copper pipe that was fit well inside the upper radiator hose. Then I drilled a hole in the middle of the pipe, stuck the round fitting inside the hole and JB welded it.

I then masked the ends off and painted it black.

Then I screwed my temp sensor in after applying teflon paste to the threads. Then I cut the upper radiator hose and slid my tube in and clamped it down.

The sensor is upside down on my car, I didn't want any tiny air bubbles being trapped in between the round fitting and the sensor.

Haha, my neighbor has been bugging me to finish the turbo. And he heard my car idling since I had no exhaust ( )I was calling my dad at the time (he helped me a lot with this project) and told my dad that everything runs well and that boost feels great.

Then my neighbor told me to turn it on, and I gave him a ride. He was holding on the "oh ****" bar on the door the whole time as we cruised around a bit.Haha!

No problem, tell me if you have any questions. I tried to be descriptive.
s14derrick wrote:your thread and impressions on driving it have me so excited for the spring when i get to put my turbo parts in

Yeah I was excited before I started, but it hasn't kicked in until my car started up and I did a small 5 psi pull down a street. Then I parked it on the side going "wow my car is turbo'd".

Overall, very very tough. Nothing fit, nothing went as planned, deadlines were later seen as more like "hopes for the day".

Try and keep everything organized. Use tools and put em back where they should be. Me and my dad didn't do this until the end but, get a few shoeboxes and toss the nuts and bolts you take off and remember what they were for or label them "Motor mounts + oil pan" or you'll be like me and lose a nut for the sway bar and motor mount.

Being organized will make everything much easier.

Also, remember that not everything will fit as you planned, so plan for some setbacks.

Yeah I'll definitely be safe with the new amount of power.

My rear wheels slipped once in a while in the rain, now with a turbo I should be even more careful.

I heard people with a T25 at 8 psi have around 200hp and a bit more than 200 torque. I have a bigger GT28R from a S15, but I'm probably in that neighborhood for power.

Once I get a good job I'll be going for slightly bigger injectors and a rom tune.

I was going to use a T25, but the one I bought was blown. FRsport had a Thanksgiving sale on a GT28R for like 750 or something like that, so I hopped on it.

Haha I'm not much for videos, but maybe sometime. Btw KA-T gurus. Is the sound of whistling a normal sound during idle?Kinda sounds like my turbo is whistling, everything runs fine so I don't think it's a leak from the BOV or a vacuum somewhere.

whistling at idle sounds like a vacuum leak

can you hear if it gose away as you rev the motor up

check your vacuum lines and your turbo piping for leaks get some carb cleaner and spray it were you think you hear the whistling the motor will bog down if there is a leak but watch out it eats paint and stuff

if you have a vacuum/boost gauge it should read like 22in at idle with the motor warm

and i run 11psi of boost out of a gt28 on my KA-T and every one looks at me funny

Gratz man. Do your first WOT 3rd and 4th gear pull and pray lol. Thats when sht hits the fan if its gona. I think you got it good though, shouldnt have anything to worry about.

The whistling sound is not normal and sounds like it could be a vac/boost leak.

That turbo you put on there, i saw the thanksgiving special i wanted to pick one up for my SR.. Anyway, great turbo choice for you man you wont need to upgrade anytime soon.

sHaZaM! boost is here? noice! Careful not to over do it, the first month of two of a new project is listening, feeling and checking of any problems...make sure your oil drain is not leaking, etc etc

I'm curious to see how the FMU is working out for ya as well.

Well, my O2 sensor was unplugged this WHOLE time, and it still ran okay.

I'm curious as to how it will feel once that is put in.That whistling sound is annoying the hell out of me though.

Tomorrow is a good test for my KA-T, I have to drive 30-40 miles of freeway to get to my exhaust guy.

Hopefully everything is fine.

it might've been running rich as hell, don't run it for too long running super fat and dilute your oil

my ssac mani finally cracked to destruction last night..I'm thinking of a treadstone top mount manifold hopefully that will work out =D

Hey spooled, which manifold are you running? The top mount one right? That sucks that it cracked, but hey that just means it's time to upgrade haha.

I plugged it in tonight, and the car runs better.

I laughed at the SSAC cracking, sorry :P.Time for an upgrade though

Daayum that's a huge pic. Also that thing looks like a beast.

Where do you drift? Is it at that go-kart place in Riverside?A guy in this area with a FC Rx-7 told me I should go there, since he goes there whenever he can.

I'm a complete noob so I'll probably make a fool of myself the first couple of tries.
