Update....

So I spent all day working on my car since my motor mounts and wiring harness came in today. I had one heck of a time trying to get my old motor mounts off... The bolts had rusted on there really good and pb blaster wasn't working. So I made a few phone calls and had a friend bring over a sawzall....

Well the battery kept dying on me. So I ended up having to beat the crap out of them with my BFH...

Didn't take many pictures but I'll post some up tomorrow.....

Has anyone other than me fallen asleep in the drivers seat and woke up thinking you hit a wall?

So theres the latest on my car... My old sohc is in the process of getting dropped into my friend's s13......

Earlier in the day we got bored before messing with the sohc and decided to do a burnout in the newly acquired camarro

Its just to bad he doesn't have posi in it...

Well I've got one heck of an update well kindof.....

The pignose s13 my friend mike owns now has my old motor in it and fires up... Have to tinker with it some more to get it drivable. I ended up just trading him my assembled sohc bottom end for his that was completely torn apart and the piston's, rods and crank are still down at the machine shop. I know some of you are thinking

Why would I do this you ask?

Well my other friend jason has an s13 and he blew his sohc up about a year ago and his car has been sitting in his driveway ever since.... He ended up pulling the motor out and setting it on a tire outside... well his step-dad thought he threw a rod through the block when it was only the rod bearing on cylinder #1....

So since he thought it wasn't salvageable he threw it in the back of his truck and took it to the scrap yard.....

Which leads me back to why I needed a motor that was all torn apart....

I traded my friend my dirt bike for a bunch of stuff right before I left for college and I told him that I'll build him a sohc for his car if I can get the bike back

And this leads me into the pictures....

Its a pretty nice bike but I've got to get the clutch from my friend and a bunch of other parts he pulled off for some reason....

Yea I'm pretty excited about the Yamaha. I should have it running tonight if he brings me the rest of the parts but we'll see how that goes... I think i'm gonna get it running before i move any further on my car. I am waiting on my friend to bring me a set of solid motor mounts before I can move any further... I had a custom set made since I didn't like how much i could move the motor by hand with the stock mounts. So it will prob get put on hold till next week. Plus the guy that was suppose to send me the throttle cable with the rest of my dohc parts isn't replying to my e-mails

Which means I'm either going to have to find a way to rig up the sohc cable to work or find another one....

part it out and stop thinking ebay is one stop shop for performance. Ive had my car going on 2 years in june and well it is def a work in progress, I would be imbarrassed to drive that thing down the block. even a 4 dollar can of spray paint for the white body kit would have helped it 1000%.....

ebay ISNT a great place to find stuff. less you are looking for cheap **** and making you car look like cheap ****.

if this was your plan...... I wouldnt say "it isnt finished", I woud call it "mission accomplished!"

I know feeling it used to be............

now it is the complete opposite.
last time i checked...money doesn't grow on trees dumba$$, i believe he said he was in school (so am i) and trust me, your disposible income becomes very little during the school year, so what if its taking him 3 years, thats what i call dedication oh and also luck doesn't seem to be on his side either

Yep school sucks but its one of those things that you just have to do... My car's been 2 hrs away from running for weeks on end. I'm still waiting on my throttle cable to come in... It got caught in the hurricane situation going on and hopefully it will be in this week. I've just been working all the time to save up some more cash. I think I might be going on a road trip soon down to texas But when that happens I'll have a DD Vert can't wait!

Well I finally got my camera back from my sister so no more cell pictures other than the one's from last night...

Here's some older pictures of my car before the motor and with the 5 lug conversion....

I got a chance to work on it some more yesterday and got my solid motor mounts in place

I also started my wire tuck

I threw everything together as a test fit to see if my cold air intake would fit above my radiator and see if it would work with the dohc.

I'm gonna go take some more pictures of it today and clean it up some before I have to go to work So theres a little update on things...

I've got a set of kyb-gr2 shocks with some random coil's that i've custom mounted to where I can d@m near lay frame. It's decent for only having a couple hundred bucks in new shocks.

Which body kit are you talking about? The bumper that's on it now came off a 93 240sx and it's just called the chuki bumper

The kit that was on my car (white one) was a gpsport's kit I've still got it for anyone thats interested in it... Its in my storage room. Still needs fixed tho... I gave up on it and I'd let it go for dirt.... or trade it for other parts I need

Not yet... My work schedule is crazy this week but i'm off sunday so I'm spending all day on it and should have it goin by then... I finally got my transmission harness hooked up but since I need a vehicle asap i didn't bother hiding or extending any of my wires... but It's really close. I just have to finish blocking off the egr hole on the intake mani, bolt the intake back together and bolt my exhaust back together, Run my starter wire and ground the motor, throw on the cold air intake and mafs. Fill all fluid's bleed brakes and clutch. So still a ways but I'll def have it goin by next week i believe. But I just got off work and its 7 in the AM so Time fo sleep

Well guys... I've had a very rough couple days. My mom was in a pretty serious accident this past wed morning. She was on her way to a doc apt and fell asleep at the wheel... The pictures explain the rest

She was life-lined from the scene and i received a phone call from the sheriff and all he could tell me was that she was life-lined and was hurt pretty bad.

Well the car flipped over 4 times and she was ejected from the passengers side. The seatbelt snapped and the airbag did deploy. She wiped out 6 concrete fence post's and somehow managed to only get one cut that needed stitches from the whole incident. I've been trying to get her to sell that car b/c i knew it wasn't safe but she wouldn't listen So I'm gonna look for a safe vehicle for her to drive now.

As you can tell I haven't been able to work on my car much. But I do have some good news.... I got it to crank over but it won't fire up. I think I have the wrong coil. Anyone know if the sohc and dohc have different coil's? I noticed that on the dohc wiring harness the connector for it is a little different... I spliced in the old connector but I don't know if that's going to work....

Thanks. Mom's doin ok now so all is well

I found the answer out when I went to advanced to have my battery charged. For anyone curious they are a completely different coil and you have to have the dohc coil for it to fire properly. So I'm looking for one. E-bay has one that i'm bidding on so hopefully I'll win it and things work out so we'll see.... My clear side markers came in yesterday's mail. They look pretty sweet but don't have any pictures yet. I'm off today so once I get some sleep I'll be at it again trying to finish up some of the other things that need done. But for now i'm off to bed

Well I just got off the phone with my friend mike and I'll be trading off the yamaha for another 240! I'm gonna pull a White Comet and throw all my good parts onto the good body.

I get my old motor back and a non-rusted hatchback florida car with all original papers!

I'll post up some pictures of the car when my friend doug owned it before he sold it to mike. I helped him pull the original sohc out and dropped my old sohc into it.

I traded my old running motor for the original non running sohc that was bored .02 over. Then traded the motor still torn apart to my friend jason for the dirtbike! Now if you think about it I've got no money involved here..... but mike is having a kid so I'll prolly slide him some cash.

So we'll see what happens from here

Ok well I've got the new 240 at my house now my sd card reader crapped out on me so it's taken me a min to get them from my camera online but here they are

Can't quite see it but it's got drilled and slotted rotor's on it

Hideous tail lights!

solid motor mounts

The motor is hideous but the shell itself is in perfect condition! There isn't one spot of rust on it! The guy that had it threw this motor together half a$s and I've gotta try and fix it or find another sohc so I can use this as my daily driver for a couple months till winter hits.

I didn't get a whole lot done to it yet but I've taped off the bumper and painted the black stripe on since it was half faded away and I rattle caned the hatch and wing b/c they were really faded. I'm out of cash this week but next sat It's getting new tires all the way around and I'm tearing into this sohc to figure out whats up with it. I might have to buy a new head b/c I think its warped and from what the guy that had it said. I think it has some bent valves b/c she said it jumped timing....
