I'm not sure yet..... The frame on my old 240 is kinda rusting but its still in the fixable stage.... I'll take some pictures of how bad it is and post it later. I've thought about dropping my new freshly rebuilt motor into the new hatch but I want to make sure it runs first.... still haven't heard it fire up for the first time. I only need an ignition coil for the s13 dohc and it should fire right up.... Key word there is should but who knows... The sohc i believe has bent valves in it.... Luckily I have had 3 sohc's prior including parts that are on this one... I've still got a sohc block with a fresh bore and hone on it in my storage room and a head that is possibly warped.... So I don't know what I'm going to do yet.... I know I no longer need a DD for work. Picked up a ford escort station wagon for $300 just last week. So I'd like to build one 240 for the track to drift with and the other to have streetable and good on gas - (sohc) lol. So for now I'm kinda undecided on what I want to do and I'm asking for anyone's opinion.... I have also been looking into an s13 convertable dohc but its quite a ways away.... So like I said I'm not sure

a dohc gets better mileage then an sohc and an sohc has better low end. so you might want to flip your plans. you shoudl give me that chuki bumper though

Nah I'm good i still have my stockies in my storage room along with the mangled up front bumper that use to be on my car. Which car is all the type x stuff going on? the black or red one b/c i remember somethin about you were swapping everything to the red one.... Didn't know it had rust on it. What are you doing with what's left of the black one? or whats up with the both of em?

I've tracked my new shell down for over 3 years! I've personally met every person that has ever owned it all 5 ppl and have all reciepts and original dealer info on it. I found it 3 years ago for 2k and have been trying to get my hands on it ever since!

Hmmmm.... interesting.... Why if you don't mind sharing?!?! How decent are the frame rails on the inner fender well on the passengers side? Thats where all my rust is at on my original 240

both side frames are HORRIBLE thats why im ditching it. the rear sections could be cut out and used for someone but the front halfs are useless

mine aren't bad till you get to the passengers side right where the brake line runs through... It must have had a really bad leak there at some point and it ate all the paint away and began eating away at it. I've sprayed rubber undercoating on the new shell so it doesn't repeat itself. The whole underside of the new hatch has been undercoated as well

I've not had much experience with bed liner but the spray stuff works quite well if ya know what your doin So when you gonna sell me those rear quarter windows? lol I think once I get one running I'll start tracking down a set. It gets confusing with 2 240's that are both 89's and pretty similar in color.

They are starting construction outside my house

Crazy...

It's raining right now or I'd be out there working on em

Well have to admit... been pretty lazy since it's been getting cold out.... I did order new parts but I've yet to take any pictures....

Here's whats up with what I've decided to do.

This is the rust situation... passenger's side

inside engine bay

rust on the floor pan Drivers side

Passenger's side Driver's side

All this has convinced me to give up on this shell.... I know it can be fixed but I'd rather not mess with it since I have this....

Yanked out the sohc and sold it

Engine bay went Gloss black this time instead of flat. Looks 10 times better in my opinion

Haven't had time to mess with them much more... I moved the maroon one to where I could start pulling the 5 lug swap off but I've been looking at getting a house in indy with a 2 car garage.... Which means I could work on them in a nice warm heated garage instead of outside on the cold ground and possibly in the snow.... Not something I wan to do this year!

I'm sending a picture from my phone to my e-mail right now of my new parts I'll post it in a little bit

Some other pictures I took that I like...

some serious racecar **** in this build, but it looks like its gotten better so props to you for sticking with it.

Why are you running that "filter," if thats what you wanna call it. It honestly doesn't do anything, get at least a cloth one man.

I've got a brand new K&N in the box... just haven't got around to messing with that yet... and since I'm pulling the motor out and dropping it into the red one it won't matter for right now. Motor still hasn't cranked up yet... plus I have the cold air intake and exhaust sold to a friend of mine... So she'll see boost this spring

well I just traded the old body kit to a friend of mine for a blown dohc ka. He just so happens to have a chuki bumper..... so..... I might be able to work something out where I get his old chuki and extension's for next to nothing... But we'll have to see what he wants to do first... already flat black

I ended up not getting the car towed to my house due to some family issues... but I have everything planned for Monday If I can get a truck sometime today I'll be able to get it to my house today... But my friend mike ~ the guy I bought the red shell from~ is able to tow it to my house on Monday for sure.

Sneak pic's of the red car's status.... my card reader for my camera isn't working right or I'd have all my pictures on here. so These were the 2 pictures I took with my phone the other night...

Motor goin in! test fit the motor with the solid motor mounts and slapped some parts on just to get a feel for how it's going to be...

I also got my ignition coil in the mail finally. So I should technically be able to fire it up soon with the stock bottom end for now until I buy my piston's, bearings and arp main stud's...

For now I've decided I need to just throw it together to have a car to drive while I tear down the new dohc I just picked up and inspect it and what parts I can reuse if I get another block.... I'm looking for a dohc block for cheap and possibly a set of stock rods... but I'm not sure If I'll go that route or just have the block bored for the piston's i want, and have the crank checked out, then swap parts around once I have the bottom end built with the eagle rod's that I've got sitting on my desk...

So we'll see... Depends how cheap I can get a dohc block around here for.I have a sohc block in my storage room and I'm looking into what all needs to be done to be able to use it for now... I know the dohc's have oil squirters and the sohc's don't but I have to do some more research on what other differences there are and if the crank's are interchangeable or not. I know they use the same rod's and you can throw the same after market piston's in both blocks without a problem. I also know that the front timing chain cover is completely different as well as the oil pan.

Since the new grey shell doesn't have any rust on it I'll prob send it to my friend's garage for the winter for paint. While I drive the red one to work and back this winter and hopefully don't get any rust issues started

Well I've been really busy here lately with work and other things and I've got quite an update so here goes.....

I guess I'll start where I left off.....

I got the new one back to the house....

It was a great find! It's only had 2 owners and sat in a garage without a motor for a couple years then got some body work done and then got moved to a barn for a couple more years.... I bought the car on the spot after looking at it for less than 2 mins I was amazed by it!

Sunroof is a big plus for me... I've not had one with a sunroof yet at least until now....

The guy that had it did all the body work on it and did a really good job on it

He shaved one of the body lines

along with the 3rd brake light... Not sure if I like it shaved or not yet.

I sold the maroon shell to a some what local guy who needed the hatch for his blue s13 hatch and the doors for his vert. Before I let it go I stripped it of all it's beauty...

I pulled the full 5 lug swap off in the freezing cold -I hate winter- Along with the 300zx rotor's, calipers, suspension, s14 lower control arms, tension rod's and lots of other parts!

Don't mind my redneck jack stand's (aka cinder blocks) lol

#1 reason for getting rid of her....

#2

#3

I'm currently waiting on my suspension parts and some brake parts to arrive... I should have everything in about a week but They won't go on till the snow goes away

These are the only pics i took before she got sent on her way

In order to keep my 5 lug swap I had to pull the 4 lug setup off the red 240 since I sold all the original 4 lug parts. So here's how the red one's sitting right now...

A mess till I get more time and warm weather to work on it...

Parts waiting to go on:

I'll be buying a good set of coilovers once I save up the cash over the winter. So ignor the one's pictured... I've got a set of tein inner and outer tie rod's being shipped to me and should be in this week sometime I also have some new steering rack boots to put on it once I get them on.

I've also got a set of adjustable e-bay RUCA's, braided steel brake lines, adjustable front tension rod's and an oil catch can ready to go on.

Later today once I make it to the bank I'll be ordering my oil cooler and oil filter relocation parts along with a set of rear adjustable tension rods. I'm wanting to use AN fittings's and braided steel hoses for my oil cooler setup...

So I've got some more research to do on AN fittings and where I can get them from. I'm not sure if the parts stores around here carry them

I kept the chuki bumper and pig lip from the maroon one and is getting painted next week hopefully but won't get bolted on till spring roll's around....

That pretty much sum's it all up...

Well small update...

I just bought another s13 for 500 bucks!

So I'm back to rolling around in a 240 and not the Racecourt station wagon I'll have pics of it up later when I can find my camera... It disapeared

Plus I got all the suspension on my red one and she's sitting on the ground
