Mine did. I had to insist and threaten to call Nissan headquarters, but they finally gave in. Just know that they will not do it for free if you modified them in any way.

Technically the dealer has to replace them under warrantee per my service writer. ( I am a parts guy at a nissan dealer)

He said that he would need to run the vin# to be sure, but it should be covered.

ah well, I just had the seatbelt go to the back, took the a-piller off, and unplugged the wire that powers it.

done deal.

I had everything done last week for FREE. So im not someone just giving you my opinion, they are under warranty, they replaced my driver seatbelt that goes over your shoulder the electric assembly that runs back and forth and the manual seatbelt and buckle. On the passenger side they did the same except the seatbelt that goes over your shoulder because it wasnt frayed or anything. Just to clear that up

I had completely forgotten that seat belts carried a lifetime warranty. The driverside shoulder belt is seized on my S13, looks like I will be heading over to Kline Nissan on Tuesday to have them check it out.

Well I had a little discussion with the service writer at the local dealership.

He told me that he didnt think they were covered, and it was only good for 5 years. He also told me that he though they were only covered for manufacturer defects.

I think this is total BS. Im hoping somone has access to the actual warrenty info. Id like to see how everything is worded, that way I know what my options are.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was looking for.

I printed it out, and I will be taking it with me when I head back to Kline.

Today I let them off easy, I did not push the subject because I had no proof, and the seemed unwilling to look anything up regarding the subject. Looks like I will be asking to speak with a manager, and I will be threatening to call Nissan North America if necessary.

I would call Nissan first, reason being is that ur printing something out that is from a public forum and the post is by an unreliable source as far as the dealership is concerned, this post doesnt mean anything to them. I would call Nissan, and explain the situation, then Nissan will call the dealer and straighten them out. Just my 2 cents when I am seeing alot of things like this turned away right now because it makes us (Nissan dealership) no money.

It is off a public forum, but it is pulled directly from the Nissan warranty booklet, and according to a friend who works for a dealership out of state, they can pull up all the warranty info in the computer system.

Yesterday they wouldnt even look at anything on the computer, they just chose to go off what they thought, which ended up being wrong.

Id like to give them the chance to make things right, without twisting their arm. If they choose to shaft me a second time, I will get dirty, I will also know what kind of people work there.

Ok, but if it was me, then I would go in there with good sources, but thats just me and I deal with this kind of stuff all the time. If it is from a warrantee booklet then I would bring that, but a piece of paper that can be modified...Like I said, wont mean anything to them.

I understand that, and if I could get my hands on a pre 2003 warranty booklet, I would bring it with me. All I can find on the net though is the excerpt posted above. It seems Nissan only keeps pdfs available online for 6 years.

I left the guy at Kline speechless when I showed up today.

I walked in and set the info I had procured on his desk. I pointed out that the warranty covered seat belts on vehicles from 1989 to 2002 for the useful life of the vehicle. I then pointed out that this warranty included, but was not limited to the spools, the belts, the motors, the tracking, and the buckles. I informed him that I had spoken with Nissan consumer affairs, and had been given the green light for warranty repair.

He just kept looking at the paperwork, and back at me. In the end he set me an appointment to have the car worked on.

I will keep you guys informed if they try to pull anything funny.

Well, I dropped the car off this morning. The guy I was working with passed me off to his boss, who was much much nicer. He was very helpful, and seemed to understand what I was looking for. As of right now the car is only being inspected so they can order the necessary parts.

There is also a bonus to all this. When he input my VIN into the computer system, he informed me there was an active recall for the car regarding the Takata seat belts. The means they may be replacing more than just what is broken.

I should get the car back this evening, though I dont expect them to have parts until sometime next week. I will keep you guys updated.

I just picked up my S13 from Nissan.

They discovered that the motor had seized, and will be replacing it, along with the belts, all under the warranty/recall.

The service manager will be calling me in the morning when he knows the ETA for the parts.

I think this is a rather important topic that needs a little more attention. Once this is all said and done I will compile all the information Ive uncovered into a technical write up. That way it can be saved forever in the tech section.

That's awesome.

I wish I would have known about this before. I've had the stupid automatic belts stop working in two of my 240s. I just disconnected the control module on them, so I could keep using the dumb things.

I am also in a fued with nissan, a couple months ago i was in a wreck with my poor S14 and the body shop who quoted it said i have to have nissan replace the parts, beings as they were not certified to make the repair to my frayed seatbelt. Well i went to the dealership last week, and they gave me the same bs they gave Ian, but with the help from this thread, i went in prepared for battle . She goes in tomorrow for an inspection as well, thankfully i saw this post to remind me about it or next time i get in a wreck, hopefully not for a long while, (knocks on wood) i dont eat my windshield, as i have no drivers side airbag, but anyways, Regal Nissan =

any luck with this post? any information you "procured" would be helpful as I want to get my **** fixed once and for all... I dont even know if my belt locks up and aside from my track device being very worn, undoing my lap belt and shoulder harness is a PITA.
