I dont think I would be the first, its got a thump from one of the back tires, like it has a flat spot from someone abusing the emergency brake.

I will post a picture of the hoopty in a minute.

nice... my favorite thing to do to with enterprise rental cars is switch the "my other car is an enterprise rental" license plate with a aftermarket one... ie: "formula D: all smoke, no mirors" plate frame.... given yours is from a dealer, you should be able to do the same thing if you have an extra plate frame....

They got back to me this morning, apparantly they found the source of the malfunction.

Their technician diagnosed it as needing a seat belt control unit. They ordered the part this morning, and they are having it overnighted. As long as it is withing a few hundred miles it should be here tomorrow, or at the latest Friday. Regardless, I should have my S13 back by this weekend, with a working seat belt.

Im still rocking the rental.

lol Ian. Nissan gave you a Mitsubishi?

Btw I checked my 1995 owner's manual and couldn't find the warranty info, I don't think it's in there. So is this warranty for S13s only?

It covers any Nissan vehicle built between 1989 and 2003.

I should add to this.

Vehicles built between 1989 and 2003 have a seat belt warranty in effect for the useful life of the vehicle. Vehicles built after 2003 have a warranty lasting 10 years.

As for an update on my car, Im still driving the Galant, with no word from Nissan.

I picked up my car this afternoon. The seat belt works, and everything looks good, and the best part is, they washed the car for me, it was nasty dirty.

I will have pictures and even a video up in a minute.

I just got off the phone with Nissan's service department, I'm waiting for a call back.

I told im what my issue was and asked him if that was something that might be covered under a lifetime warranty (even though I already knew the answer) and before he answered my question he got a bit of an attitude and asked, "Is that the only reason you're making the appointment, because you think it will be covered?" I told him, "Of course not, it's driving me nuts, I did some research to see if it was a common problem and found that someone had gotten it covered."

He says a fraying seatbelt isn't covered and that my VIN is possibly de-archived in Nissan's database and that when he gets a chance he will run my VIN and call me back.

Both of my parents used to work for their company and they know me over there. They better not give me a hard time. I know I'm small, but I can be loud. Haha

Gray. I don't know if they'll replace the actual belt, but there should be a recall for the buckle wich they better fix.

It's not that serious, I don't use my shoulder belt often anyway, but if I try to, it takes 20 minutes to buckle. I was just seeing if I can get it replaced from Nissan. It'd be nice considering there is a recall and all but it really doesn't matter to me.

They are just trying to F you.

Tell them that they are WRONG.

The guy said he will get back to you at his convenience?

He said your VIN might be out of archive? WTF?

He just doesn't want to do s*** for you, quite frankly.

And that's the exact attitude I got from him.

I didn't want to but I called that particular dealership because both of my parents have worked for the company in the past. A friend of mine is a tech at a Nissan dealership but it's about 45 minutes from my house. I'm not 21 so I can't get a loaner if the need to keep my car for an entire day and getting someone to take me up there twice is going to be a pain.

I'm calling another dealership. I'm not even wating for his call.

That's a shame.A comapny that doesn't want to help the customer. Useless s***head.

You could have a little fun if you call them back. Tell them that it probably isn't in their best interest to deny a lifetime warranty to a customer. a SEATBELT issue at that.

"so, sir, you are telling me that you want to deny my rightful claim to have my seatbelts fixed? I don't think the higher ups at Nissan will want to hear that you and your dealer are saying no to warrantied safety issues."

Well, I just got off the phone with another dealership and they were very helpful. He actually took the time to look it up in the computer and tell me that it was covered. I have an appointment Thursday morning.

I also got a call back from the idiot at the first dealership. He said that my VIN would be archived since my car is so old. Funny, I have a '93, Ian has an '89 and he had no problems.

That's some B.S. yikes.

"Wow, really? De-archived? That's wierd.""After so long Nissan de-archive VIN numbers then I would have to call them and the process to put your VIN back in the system could take up to two days.""Hm... that's not what the guys over at Colonial said. In fact, he looked up everything for me while I was on the phone with him and told me it would be free of charge. I have an appointment Thursday morning, so no thanks for your help, take care."

He was pissed, but he should have done his job right the first time.

NICE.

You should have laughed your a** off since he was pissed.

Who could he possibly be mad at? The only LOGICAL person would be himself (for being such a bastard).

At any rate, glad you are getting your belts taken care of. That's GREAT.

I don't know what his deal was. He was probably pissed because I proved him wrong. I work at a car dealership. I know how they go about warranty work, I'm not going to fall for anything.

Yeah, he must just be one of THOSE people. You prove them werong on something, and instead of accepting it, they get MAD.
