Altho I do have to agree with whomever said that the missing cargo light on the "S" model should'nt be a luxury. I am glad i opted for the SL.

The only thing that does drive me nuts is there are only two screws holding the license plate onto the rear hatch....ever time i close the hatch the plate rattles....annoying....couldn't they have made four holes to make it more secure?

but other than that...I Love My Rogue !!
I placed some felt stick on bumper strips on the back of my plate and I have no rattles. Weather striping would probably work just as well.

No Vanity MirrorsNo light in Cargo area

I think these are just S model dislikes, but these "options" are so basic I would think they should have really been included.

Also,Heater could be strongerno DRL'sBlind spotsand also,Blind spots.

But still everything I was looking for in a AWD 4door vehicle.

My SL has a small light in the cargo door, located at the bottom right (looking from inside the vehicle). I am surprised they left this out of the S model.

I'm pretty sure I read on the brochure that the intelligent key can be programmed to either unlock just the driver's side door or all 4 doors. Driver's side door only is probably the default. Consult your manual and see if it tells you how to do it or contact Nissan.

Yup, found it. Quote from the brochure:

"Simply press the button on the door handle and the driver's door automatically unlocks. Or if you perfer, Rogue can be programmed to unlock all 4 doors and the hatch."

Well, I am very happy with my new Rogue. That being said, there are some things that are missing that would be nice to have.

- Automatic headlights- Daylight running lights- locking glove box- remote gas cover- turn indicators on the outside mirrors- better placement of the 2nd power outlet that is buried in the console between the front seats

Telescopic Steering wheel - with the seat pushed all the way back for us tall folks, the wheel is so far that the arms are fully stretched out.

Window buttons on the doors, I hate having to reach under the switch to close a window, I much prefer flat toggle switches.

General lack of sound insulation/isolation. Tire/road surface noise should not be telegraphed to the body, causing a drum pounding noise.

No auto door locking when the car is in motion.

Turn signal arm detent is too soft, you should not have to lock the turn signal on when doing lane changes.

Really really really stupid. Unless there is a light back there that I cant find and then... Im really stupid.

All in all, I do love my Rogue so far.
I have SL but I don't beleive that they missed it. First of all I never seen the car before without a light in a trunk. Then I found a link of Rogue for sale from yahoo where it says that this is S model and cargo area light is standard. Try to find a switch in your trunk. Here's the link:http://autos.yahoo.com/used-ca...32572

That link is incorrect (about the cargo light). in the US, the S model does not have a cargo light, as noted on nissan's official site.

Overall, I am very happy with my Rogue, but as with most purchases you can always list items that you would like to see improved. Maybe Nissan will see this site and make changes in the 2009 Rogue.

Items I don't like: 1. Road noise (especially bad when road is wet) 2. Small back window 3. No locking gas cap 4. Cargo area is too small 5. Would have liked an option to purchase 6 cyl 6. AC on when heat is on....does the compressor come on an lower my gas mileage.

Easy now. But I see where your coming from some of the issues noted in this topic where apparent at the time of the purchase and others you discover after living with the Rogue for a while. But all cars have room for improvement which was all I was looking for when I created this topic. Some of the posts have been usefull but others seem to be forgeting that the Rogue is a small, affordable $19,000, fuel efficient crossover. The more you add to it you add costs and sometimes weight and less fuel economy. We all have our opinions, for example I think my Rogue is much quieter than its competion. Auto door locks, lights, locking gas cap, etc.... would be nice but I still love my Rogue.

I'm in the same boat with most, only a few bugs for me. Otherwise I'm very pleased with the Rogue, really glad I didn;t go with the CRV or the CX-7.

-window and lock switches aren't lit at night-redundant turn signal light, like on the side mirrors or built into the front side fender-backup sensors, especially with such a small rear window-Heated mirrors -Arm Rest rear seats -cross rails for the roof rack??? -One touch window up-Daylight running lights (come on, get with the program)-Telescopic Steering wheel

I had to review others posts to actually recall things. So all in all nothing major.

I would like to know why the A/C light comes on when the dial is set to heat and only with certain settings on the position dial????? What is the purpose?

Just bought Rogue 2 days ago, and it has plenty of power to go up the Rockies (came out of SLC toward Wyoming - a step section of I-80, then over the "3 sisters" - 3 steep sections just east of Evanston) and never seemed to struggle maintaining 79 mph). So people may complain about not having a V6, but unless you want to tow beyond what the vehicle is rated for, there is plenty of power - no need for more hp and less mpg. Overall, very happy with the vehicle. Did not like the RAV4 swing out rear gate and much higher price, or the CRV's lack of power and bluetooth cell phone capability. Can't complain about less storage space in the Rogue, since we knew that when buying.

The few comments I agree with from other postings are:1) No center armrest with cupholders for rear seat (like CRV and RAV4 have)2) Getting 2nd power outlet out from bottom on center armrest - so its easily available for rear seat passengers (power cable goes past top storage bin and center armrest top easily with armrest down, so not a big issue - wish power outlets stayed powered with car off, though).3) Steering wheel not being telescoping.

One comment I haven't seen yet - must be because most other postings aren't from folks who intend to take the vehicle off-road - if you live in Wyoming, doing so is part of life if you ever intend to go to the mountain trailheads. LACK OF FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE. I dread being 20 miles down a dirt road (not a rare occassion), getting a flat, and having to put on a temporary small tire to get out. At least the spare is almost the same height (about 3/4" shorter). Like most other small SUV's (RAV4 and CRV included), the tire sizes are not sizes they make off-road tires in, with the extra plys on the sidewalls to avoid sidewall punctures. Looks like the full size spare would not fit in the car, unless the rear organizer was removed....and even then, the BOSE subwoofer that screws into the center/top of the small spare may not fit (anyone know how that subwoofer works when buried below a rear end filled with clothers/gear for a family weekend camping trip?)

Complaints:- Seems to stick in 2d gear if I use paddle shifters to get some extra push getting on the highway- Bluetooth microphone is REALLY soft when recording for my phonebook. If I'm on the highway, I can't even hear what I recorded.- Bluetooth phonebook only accepts numbers (eg; I can't enter the # sign to access my voicemail, etc.) which makes it much less convenient- XM Radio display will not scroll all of the information, it just displays one thing (ie; EITHER artist or song, not both)- Intelligent key will not let passengers open their own doors (they have to wait for me to push my button twice before they can get in), also rear doors don't have button (if I'm getting something out of my back seat, I have to go back to the driver's door to lock)

Wish List:- Auto on/off head lights- Climate control (ie; just set temp)- Programmable remote like on my old Murano (eg; choose to open all doors when I press the button once)- Reclining rear seats- Remote lift gate- Bigger Intelligent key remote button on rear hatch door

It's still a real fun car to drive.
Regarding your issue with the Bluetooth phone book only accepting numbers...I found this in the Rogue's Quick reference guide on page 18.

HOW TO SAY NUMBERNISSAN voice recognition permits numbers to be spoken in a variety of ways. Say “zero” or “oh” for “0.” Example: 1-800-662-6200 – Say “one eight zero zero six sixtwo six two oh oh.” Say “pound” for “#”. Say “star” for “*” (available when using the “Call International”command, and the “Send” command during a call). Say “plus” for “+” (available only when using the “Call International” command). Say “pause” for a 2 second pause (available only when storing a phone book number).I haven't tried it yet with my voicemail but will attempt soon.

I love my Rogue, but I despise the three inch area on the driver side windshield that doesn't get cleaned off with the wiper - this is dangerous! I almost ran someone over, when turning left because this area was dirty from the snow/salt/slush - you constantly have to move your head back and forth when making a left turn, if its dirty because the wipers don't reach that far over. Thats really unbelievable that it would be made this way.

My husband also liked our Vibe better - he says (and I agree) that there was more space in the front than there is in the Rogue. I've hit my head on the Rogue before and thats with the seat at its lowest (I'm 5'8").

My SL FWD model (no premium pack, no rear cargo organizer or Bose system) comes with a full size spare on an identical 17" alloy wheel that is on the Rogue. This is the first time since my '87 Pathfinder that I have had a full size spare.

What I like and don't like about the Rogue? Wow, that's a lengthy list. That question actually inspired me to write a review of the Rogue for epinions.com entitled "Why I Bought a Nissan Rogue." If you'd like to read about my real-world experience with Rogue, including things like: mpg, likes and dislikes, Honda CRV comparisons, and an overall evaluation click on the link below. And if you don't mind, please include your feedback about the article on the site.

Thanks and enjoy your Rogue.

On the edge of spam. In order to leave a comment you have to join epinions.

Coin tray - yes there is a coin tray, not much of one, but there is one in the covered center console.

As to option pricing, the Honda CRV is not much different. There are no small options, only large inclusive options. If I remember right, the 2007s had 4 levels, and you could not go from an option level to the next level without purchasing the current level. For instance to get Option 3, you had to purchase 1 and 2. The top most level, which had the nav/backup cam, didn't have bluetooth and brought the MSRP to almost $29K.

Smoking in the car? Yuck. Nissan will sell you a lighter and a ash tray (I actually think it is an ash cup that goes into one of the cup holders - I have seen them on ebay).

writeratwork,

First and foremost I thank God your son was not injured when he totaled your Quest minivan. I would now like to commend you for taking the time in writing such an informed, fair and powerful review on your experience as a Rogue owner. It's consumers like youself and forum members like those on "NICOclub" that help others who may not be research savvy to make a more informed decision when deciding on which car to buy/lease.

BTW, I had to laugh at your closing remarks!

"Finally, I do have one thing for which I am grateful. Though my son's insurance will now be going up because of his accident with my van, I have to thank him for inadvertently introducing me to my new car. Thanks son, and in the future keep your eyes on the road. Oh, and don't even think about driving my Rogue. -- Richard Krzemien."

I would encourage anyone who may be undecided about the "Rogue" to click on the link and read the review written by writeratwork.

I found a great cure for that....

My wife drives the Rogue the most and I rarely get any time in it...

So I went out and got a 350Z....she can drive her car all she wants.

I'm happy in mine!!

When you go on a test drive and research the vehicle, you never really know what you don't like till you drive the vehicle for a few days, week, etc.... I have the S model and I could not believe I did not have vanity mirrors! Of course, I did not notice that till I was in the passengers seat and needed to use the mirror.......major disappointment! On a test drive, did not even think of looking for this..... Backing up camera should have been a must on this vehicle. I don't feel very safe switching lanes, but I hope after driving the Rogue a little more, become more confident. To take off, seems like I have to push the pedal really down....slow pick up, but then again, I traded in my BMW 325 for the Rogue. Yeap....my BMW! All in all, I love the Rogue and do not regret the trade. It's sexy looking, gas mileage is great and for the price, you really can't go wrong. I made a few enhancements...chrome grill, tinted windows, alloy wheels from the SL, polished exhaust muffler pipe, alluminum kick plates and plan on purchasing the spoiler soon. It's looking sweeeeeeet!

Big gaping hole of a radiator opening. Easily fixed for cheap, but a poor and ugly design.
