First of all, I really do like my Rogue. However, here are my feedback to Nissan, if they read this forum.

1) Why does the back window that small??? I understand the quarter back panels are small due to styling, which I love. But I dont understand why the rear window does not go down 5 more inches or so, just like the second generation Murano. My wife does not drive my car just because of this. Also, about 6 months back, I hit a lowered Mazda Miata backing up because I couldnt see it from the back window. Unacceptable!

2) Comparing this car to my wife's VW tiguan, the interior so small, especially the width of the driver's area. In Tiguan, you can open your legs almost as twice as this car. Also, my car has sunroof, maybe this is the reason but I dont like the lack of headroom, I feel so tight in the car. Again, my wife's tiguan has maybe triple of the headroom in my comfortable driver position in both cars.

3) I usually keep my cars until they die and my rule of thumb is if the depreciation is 10 cents per mile, I am satisfied. For instance, my current 2000 Nissan Altima has 213k miles (I bought brand new for $18k OTD) and I still drive it everyday. No major repairs. I dont think I will achieve this high reliability and satisfaction with this car mostly due to the transmission. Nissan increased the transmission warranty to 120k miles (I drive around 30k miles per year, 10 year warranty part is irrelevant for me) but I dont know, I am reading so many horror stories about CVT repairs.

4) The gas mileage is good but not great, my wifes Tiguan gets better mileage in highway driving even though it is turbocharged 200hp and has unbelievably better performance than Rogue. At 65mph cruise control, with my Scangauge, Nissan gets 31mpg (note, Florida is very flat), Tiguan gets 38mpg. A note: reduce the Nissan's dash computer average reading by 2mpg, it is optimistic. Also, I really like the 2012 Kia Sorento, although it is a midsize car, the EPA highway estimate is 32mpg, amazing. What I am trying to say is Nissan has to step up.

5) The back seats has so much leg room but I rarely have people in the back seat (I dont have kids), I would really prefer if I can slide the rear seats forward to have more cargo room (like CRV). For instance, I have two dogs, they travel in the back seat, I dont care of the leg room but prefer more trunk space.

Minor annoyances:

1. The temperature range between A/C cycle on and cycle off is too wide... The A/C does get nice and cold, but as soon as it hits around 34-38 degrees, it cycles off and doesn't come back on until it is 'barely cool' (~50 degrees). This happens about two or three times a minute depending on fan speed, and it's quite obnoxious... I'd rather feel a more consistent temperature.

2. Center console shifter creaks at certain temperatures... fixable but slightly annoying.

3. Idle quality with A/C on suffers from time to time... When the car is all warmed up, and the A/C kicks on during idle, the engine shutters for a split second until the car corrects for it. I've noticed this with the new Xterra as well when I rented one a few weeks ago... however, with the Xterra, the shuttering is even worse. My 2001 xterra doesn't have this problem.

That's pretty much it. Aside from these issues, the A/C related ones being the most annoying in the list, it has been a great car.

2 words: fuel economy.
2. Center console shifter creaks at certain temperatures... fixable but slightly annoying.
i have a cheap, and easy fix for that.

.
this problem is 2 fold: many car companies are designing their engines to idle slower at 500rpmish, down from the 700-800's. that improves pollution emission & fuel economy. at that idle speed, any slight rob of power and your gonna get serious judder. now the rogue also has a small engine, so add that to the mix = and you have judder that happens often.
we have a weak engine, and thats the problem. A/C compressors kicking on will always do that on cyl engines. some cars have a little better of a engine mount system, but then again i dont want to be buying super expensive strut mounts when my car hits 100,000miles.

this is not the only car that will be tuned and tweaked for fuel economy. your going to find this in many cars now a days. the Feds imposed strict regulations on car manufacturers, and they are scrambling to come up with every and any way to meet the strict demands. so prepare for serious weight reduction by way of: crappier brakes that wear quicker & lighter thinner plastics. Prepare for lower RPMs at idle and ECU's that will manipulate RPM's to stay lower by changing the gear ratio in the transmission as quickly as possible.

I only have mine a week and i really didn't want the rogue but needed something awd for a good price and had to be a nissan because my credit is bad and i know the owner of nissan (i love nissan though but mainly for the Z and skyline). Soooo, i swallowed my pride and just got what was practical for what i need for the time being. After having the car for a few days though it started to grow on me...its really comfortable and rides really nice. I have the SL package with nav so im enjoying having all the bells and whistles i never had in a car before. At first I wasnt thrilled with the appearance but that too has grown on me. I tinted my windows and ordered these nice rims for it so im pretty excited lol. But anyway the only thing i dont like about the rogue and im having a hard time getting over, is that it is soooooo freaking slow! I've never drove a 4 cylinder before and only one 6 cylinder for that matter (92 300zx). But i must say say this car is good on gas! I had it for a week now and i havent put a drop of gas in it. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too. lol

This is what I absolutely hate about my Nissan Rogue. It is so freaking outrageously dead silent....AT LEAST TO ME...at times ......that I crank the ignition when it is already on!

I have done this 3-6 times already. For example, I leave family with the air con and radio for a comfortable environment while I go exit to retrieve carry out pizza or something then I return and GRIND the hell out of my ignition. WAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Those simple things I overlook. grrrrrrrrrrr :tisk:

But yah its quiet. A good thing which is a bad thing but in the end is a good thing. :dblthumb:

where do I start??? ugh...no cubbies up front, song title display is cutoff, noisy engine, whistling noise from moonroof, no crossbars on roof rack, no homelink available, crappy cargo area illumination, horrible blind spot, noisy a/c compressor, overall fit and finish is pretty poor IMO.

DISLIKES:
no auto headlight option in between OFF & PARKING LIGHTS.
no auto up/down feature on the front passenger side window.
no splash guards in the rear wheel well's, causing loud driving on wet roads.
the rear view mirror is right in my eye level (due to slopping rear roof line, causing the rear window to be low)
silly twist knob key-less start. why couldn't we get a button like the altima/maxima?
non LED tail lights

LIKES:
really large side view mirrors
red stitching in the seats
perforated leather seats
simple interior
easy/fun car to drive. drives like a sentra until its off-road = then performs like a Murano.

all in all i give this car a 7.0 (it lost a few points in the non aggressive/inspiring looks.)

I think my biggest peeve is that when it's nice outside and I just want the fresh air vent on but not the windows open (like on the highway) I can't get outside temp air. The air must get routed past a hot part of the engine or something because it's always much hotter than the temp outside. So instead of getting nice fresh air, I get what feels like a blast furnace.

you have engine coolant that goes into a small radiator(heater core) in your dash at all times.

I actually LIKE this feature. It allows the use of a mechanical key as a backup.
My parents Toyota has that silly push button ignition, and they have been stuck because they ignore the low battery warning and it goes dead while at the store... lol
plus, i can get a cheap copy key made for my son, who doesnt need the $$$ spendy electonic key to just lose or run through the wash.

i enjoy the key-ability as well. but i wish that they added a button as the main way to turn the car on(leaving the knob as a backup). you have no idea how many times i didnt twist that knob far enough and pretty much left it in ACC mode(where the radio works). just this past sunday i did it, and the only reason i realized it, is because my phone calls routed to the car LOL

Call me old fashion but i like a turn key ignition... With the bush button/keyless start ignition i find myself always leaving my keys in the car or 4getting where i stuck them. For a girl its nice since they can just leave them in their bag (since they always have there bag) and never take them out. But people keep telling me once I get used to it I'll never be able to live without and i suppose their right.

But I definitely second the passenger window not being auto... That annoys the hell out of me LoL I'm so used to getting the car hitting both buttons and being on my way.

i carry a kubaton on my key's, and i stick that between the pants & belt and never take it out unless i actually need my keys. works well with the keyless nissan system.

i almost always am wearing a belt, but if not - the kubaton is pretty long, and it holds the keys just right. i slip the kubaton under the pants waste band and my boxers. the keys hang out, but the kubaton keeps them in place.

keychain, yes- but its a fight stick. so be careful if you pick on up. it can cause serious bodily injury.
once you learn to fight with a tonfa/kubaton/pocket fight stick; you can transfer the same knowledge into a pen, flashlights, etc.

A lot of people don't seem to understand what personal preference is so always consider the source. I have no problems with any ignition type which is a good thing since our vehicles have three different types (push button, keyless/twist and the traditional key type). As with anything subjective, YMMV. There's no wrong or right.

After getting a vehicle with auto up/down on all 4 windows I think I'm now spoiled. It's very handy here in Houston (where summer is most of the year) as I can hold the unlock button on the remote to open all windows and the sunroof automatically and then hit auto up on all the windows once the hot air has been vented.

All I dislike is a little too low the power. I was driving g25 a month ago and that thing was flying comparing on the highway. 3.5L is a little bit too much for me so 2.5 V6 instead of I4 would be perfect for me. I tried once old maxima 3.0L and I think it was more than enough but 2.5 4cyl. is kinda weak for me. I would appreciate a lot if next Rogue or Infiniti EX (preferably Rogue) would have 2.5 v6 option. This is definitely my next car.

i wish it had the maxima engine... hell id take a v8! fuel efficiency don't mean squat to me... ill pay the extra money for more power...i dont feel like its a huge savings anyway, maybe 10 bucks a week?

idk why they designed the rogue to reach speeds above 120mph. if they took away that top end, they could have it on the low end, and give us low end torque like no other. but i think because the belt probably couldnt bend around such a small pulley.

i wouldnt wan ta 2.5 v6 - i sold my 2002 3.5L v6 maxima for this rogue, and i can tell you those 2 extra cylinders sucking gas while idling in NYC traffic really make a difference in fuel consumption. if i could create a dream rogue, id ask for one of these Nissan engines:
1.6 L MR16DDT Turbo Gasoline I4 (juke engine)
1.5 L Renault K9K I4 diesel (juke engine)
1.6L I4 R9M Diesel Engine (qashqai engine)
2.0L I4 M9R Diesel Engine (qashqai engine)

i think a diesel with its low end torque = would absolutely blow any competition out of the water. the 2.0 I4 M9R engine creates maximum power is achieved at 3,750 rpm and torque of 360 N·m (266 lb·ft) is available from 1,750 rpm

Man if you wanted a race car and don't care about fuel efficiency why did you buy the Rogue? The Rogue is all about efficiency, number 1 priority, and a good balance of decent power, performance and practical interior as well.

No small to midsize crossover is going to perform like a sports car unless you go with a high-end performance brand like Infinity and then you're talkin big bucks. You could take a look at the RAV4 with V6, its pretty quick, the same with the Kia Sorento 3.5, thats an amazingly fast ride and news is the V6 is going to be reitred in favor of small turbo 4 cylinders. If you want a sports car, buy a sports car like the Mazda3 Speed or any one of its competitors are affordable and fun to drive cars.

True, but buying used does limit choices.
Dislike should have read that nissan considers those as optional upgrades.
I knew about the no Aux power when I bought it, but never looked for a cargo light as it was sunny and never crossed my mind that any manufacturer (especially nissan) would build a car in 2009 without one.

End result is there is now nothing about my rogue that I don't like.

Yeah I agree, a cargo light should NOT be an option, that is really ridiculous and who would think to check on something like before buying anyway??? Two other things I'd add to this list of "what was Nissan thinking??", is adjustable rear headrests and a second row center console. Not quite as bad the lack of cargo light, but pretty close considering EVERY competitor offers this standard. If you have kid car seats you know how terrible those headrests are - because you can't fish the strap under the headrest to the latch connector in the trunk, you have to put the strap over top of the headrest and when you tighten it down the headrest smoosh/compress flat and it looks so stupid. When the car seats are removed my headrests don't bounce back, they're permanently deformed which sucks when I try to sell it privately one day. Some cost cutting measures make sense becuase people won't even realize what they're missing, but the Rogue has 3 or 4 of these that just defy logic.
