Damn that sucks ctsedan, my tuner is no longer available so I doubt I will be getting the recall done anytime soon. No problems with the accelerator yet... and Im not trying to pay for a retune.

Well here is the update. I went to my tuner in NJ, had to drive like 2 hours from CT. He does have my maps on file that was good news. However bad news is that when Infiniti re-flashes the ECU for the recall they erased the maps AS WELL AS the UPREV License. I had to pay 300 bux to get a new UPREV license and my tuner was able to re-flash my maps to the ECU.

One Infiniti recall for acclerator pedal- Free
Two hour drive to Tuner - 78 dollars in gas, 23 dollars in Tolls
One UPREV License- 300 dollars
My M45 running like a champ again- Priceless...!

Thanks stm37s

I may keep the 2 rear tires and sell the front 2 separate from the wheels. Just want them gone.

New wheels on the way already, should have them by the end of next week. :dblthumb:

Job well done, mate ! It is really good stuff and so easy to work with. Especially for wheels because no need to tape the tires - it just rubs off them after the dip dries. I did my grillel and the trunk trim pieces in black and I'm debating on covering them with PlastiDip glossifier as in Finzie's latest video:

How many cans and how many coats did you use? Did you use glossy?
I plan on dipping my wheels black as well and doing the center cap emblem red.

I was seriously debating on doing this to my rims. I completely messed up the finish of my rims using some rim cleaner. My dumbass self put it on after a long drive (very hot rims). Clear coat came off. This was about 2 weeks after I bought my car 2 years ago.

I don't want my rims to be that dark, something close to stock but that's a very clean job you did there.

As far as sticky goes, yes that's a good idea. The way it's set up now, I usually know someone has posted something new when this topic comes up to the top. Not sure what will stand out to make me notice something new was posted on it.

Thanks for the props guys! I am thinking about doing my whole car in the matte clear plasti dip for that frozen look. It would still let my stock color show through. I think it will look pretty sweet. What do y'all think?

TXT - you should definitely give it a try. You can spray the black base coat down and a few coats of the silver metalizer and it will produce a hyper silver effect similar to the stock rims.

Wangtang - I did 4 coats of black about 3 cans total of the black and then I did about 2 coats of silver metalizer. The silver adds a really cool effect in the sunlight. It almost looks like a black pearl.

And finally the awesome thing about the plasti dip is you can always peel it off if you don't like it!!

Hey TXT - Fonzi @dipyourcar.com release 3 new colors for the wheels. I like the Anthracite Grey. I know member CPJ LB has gotten his rims that color power coated. See his signature pix on few post above.

Its too early to form a detailed enough opinion to recommend someone to buy / not buy.... but first impressions:

Refined interior - very comfortable and posh looking
very nice safety features and tech features
heated steering wheel is nice :D power tailgate etc is nice to have
much better than the pathfinder in terms of ride quality and noise
awesome looks
Transmission does not feel as refined - my M's shifter feels much more solid and shifts better I think.
In terms of bang for buck - probably the best out there in terms of space, ride quality (softer than usual Infiniti style), looks, and technology.

TXT, I think I told you before that your colour is one of THE best on ANY car by ANY brand (including Mercedes and we all know they are incapable of doing a ho-hum paint job). Absolutely brilliant! I agree, going too dark on your wheels simply won't do. I reckon PlastiDip Anthracite Gray topped off with a single wet coat of Plastidip Glossifier.
Here is my mate Fonzie's latest tutorial on wheels, and just happens to include Antracite Gray + Glossifier.
The Anthracite will darken the wheels but not tooo far, then the single coat of glossifier will refract light making them just a slightly lighter shade, but with a clearcoat look instead of a matte finish.
Fomzie has a channel on YouTube called "DipYourCAr" his company is one of the biggest and he has shades that aren't available elsewhere. you can have a squinz at his YouTube channel - he has done some staggering projects over the years.

I will probably do this during the summer.

I take my car through the car wash and then the kids that work there hand dry it after. I'm curious how that type of wear from the car wash will treat the plasti dipped wheels. I've seen numerous videos from Fonzie's channel and don't remember him speaking of that.

I'll probably put at least 2 coats of glossifier but before I do any of that, i'll look into actually refurbishing my wheels since they are actually all messed up.

Hey TXT, Fonzie has a video on YouTube showing that the plasti dip can handle a water pressure hose, also some other guy went thru the gas station washer with the spinning brush and plasti dip help up as well. As far as handwash/dry, I am not sure. Maybe Antmora can hand dry his wheels and let us know :woot:

At one time, Fonzie did a video for both of these issues. Depending on how bad/deep the wheel rash is, plasti-dip actually hides imperfections pretty well. As for harsh automatic car washes and high pressure water washes- if you let the dip cure for about a week, it can go through anything.

Larz is right. I actually had a bit of wheel rash on one of my wheels. (due to a crappy driver in austin!) But the plasti dip covered it right up especially since I put about 4 coats down. The plasti dip is super durable. Even though I had tears in my dip from the lug nuts I was able to take it through those drive thru car washes without any further damage to my dip. I would then hand dry the wheels to help scrub off the brake dust. So I would say you would be just fine with the hand dry TXT. It is a great product cheap, removable, and customizable. Ha I sound like a salesman now!

Today I did a slight switch-up on the front end. I removed the Plasti-Dip eyelids and replaced them with VHT NightShades and clearcoat. Now they have the same finish as the body insted of the matte surface from Plast-dip. I also dipped the upper chrome trim on the leading edge of the hood so it matches the grlle (which I dipped last year. Now, with the new eyelid design in VHT and the new plasti-dip on the hood, it has a more muscular look and made a staggering improvement.

I covered the little nipples between the rows on the grille and peeled the dip from the Infiniti symbol:
.

.
REMEMBER if you use Plasti-Dip on your grille - place cardboard behind the grill to prevent the dip from coating and clogging your radiator!

I also added VHT to the side markers on the headlamp fixtures going very dark on the length of the reflector and leaving a small square with a lighter tint over the actual bulb so it still functions for safety but looks blacked out during daytme:
.
Image
.
I re-did the VHT tails with a new design for the turn signals as well (I think I already posted these - dunno)
.

And lastly, I applied Plasti-Dip the little Infiniti symbols on my wheel caps but I think they look slightly rubbish, so I may peel that bit back off.

When I was back home in London for the Crimbo holidays, there was a shop that had little car gizmos and such - I found these stickers to warn would-be burglers. They stick on the inside of the glass.
