small update- i have the uprights and hubs painted and dried and ready to go on but no pics of them yet. i have some of the hardware for the rear suspension cleaned up and painted but not all of it.

the rlcas have the es bushings pressed in

after that i started to truck bed line some of the underside finally, i didnt get it finished though since i ran out of the liner and it was freezing. heres some shots of before i started lining it

while i was under teh car, my wife was in the car mocking up the fatmat and trimming pieces of it.she'll cut you, biotch!

the rear diff is mounted to the sub frame as well as the pass side axle

and heres a random pic of the fuel pressure gauge to go in

and thats about it for pics then. im going over tomorrow morning before work to wire wheel and paint the rest of the hardware, then after work i'll pick up more truck bedliner and finish that while working on the fatmat. I shoudl have more pics tomorrow but not a whole lot of time on it so we'll see what gets done.

Question: The two front mounting hole for the diff...how are they set up? Is it like a bolt inside of the subframe, or is the subframe actually tapped? One of mine is stripped, well I can't tighten it past like 5 turns, it gets impossibly hard and starts stripping the bolt. I'm wondering if I can just drill it out and tap it for a bigger size bolt or if I'm gonna have to grab a whole new subframe. Your car is coming along nicely!

im not entirely sure how those threads are but it mgiht be possible to remove that plate and weld a nut on the inside and weld the plate back on. if it was me, i'd just find a new subframe

small update- progress is slow lately since i only have a few hours to work on stuff before work in the mornings. my only day off this week is thursday which is thanksgiving of course, but i'll be working on my car anyways.

i ran to the local hardware store and picked up new hardware for the diff where it bolts to the subframe with the cover. they had anodixed blue hardware, but not in the size i needed, its all good the gold ones are still ballerI see you lookin' at my nuts

i had to remove the pass side axle that was bolted up. the first few threads were messed up so there was no chance of the axle nut going on straight. i used both axles off of the black s13. here they are painted and cleaned up.i got both axles bolted on a torques down to spec, then installed all the other arms except the rucas and toe arms. the toe arms are on, but not bolted to the sub frame since the hardware was still drying when i left.i should be finished with the truck bed lining tomorrow or thursday, and first order of business tomorrow is to clean up and respray the rear calipers real quick then install the rear brakes and toe arm hardware. at that point i just need to wait for the rucas. im gonna pick up new exhaust hangers tomorrow and the subframe shoudl be going up shortly. stay tuned!

the bedliner to keep the underbody pristine and prevent rust and the fatmat to cut down on outside noise and give and overall quieter ride. 18 year old cars normally have squeaks and noises that i'm trying to cut down on

Man, I wish I had time to pull the sub frame out of my S14, I would like to do all of the above, if only I didn't have to wait until spring. Looks like a lot of fun.

well i finally got a chance to go through and check out your updates.

dropping the rear subframe and changing out all of those bushings is so much fun. oh and were is the credit that goes to ......oh lets say ME for figuring out about cutting the metal sleeves in the subframe bushings shorter.

and whats with al lthe sound deadener? are you getting old WC lol240s are suppose to rattle and be noisy.......

with that said where did you get the stuff and how much was it lol?

Looks like you got your VLSD mounted up in there. very nice.

coming along very nicely.

my Ps addition will be coming when i get back from xmas break.... i get my own lift and everything in the school shop to work on it. being an auto tech major has its advantages.

finally got the drive the beast for the first time in like a month and half today. only running 10 psi but it was sex on wheels.

well that was my ketchup lol. be back later to see more.

You should paint your car blue

Then all your trim peices should be white...

THEN...get some red wheels.

got a few pics, worked til it was dark then tried to get some stuff done by flashlight, didnt work too well. i did freshen up the rear calipers before they go on

i also painted the bolts for the toe arms alum colored. it'll be easier to see the hash marks this way for an alignment

and these pics here probably should go in my fs thread as well, but i pulled my spare pig nose front carpet out and cleaned it up a little to sell it.the carpet has a slight discoloring at the back part of the driver side, but it should easily be shampooed out. there's no normal wear on the driver side at the heel area and the padding underneath is nice and thick still. its in very good shape, but its already pending a transaction, these pics are basically for trampdrift.

i also started pulling the items and wiring needed for power options from the doors. i didnt snap any pics seeing as it was dark and cold and i was just working fast. i only work a half day tomorrow and have off on wednesday so more progress to come soon

well it was a beautiful day so i tried to make the most of it. admittedly there arent many pics, but thats because i was trying to get the most out of the daylight. i spent a good chunk of time under the car once again. about 1/3 of the underside is truck bed lined now. theres a few hard to reach places that i still need to spray real quick but for the most part its looking good.

as the truck bed liner was drying i busted out the fatmat and started going to town. heres pics of the progress. i managed to get farther though and covered almost all of the trunk area.

by this point it was pretty much dark so i called it a day. i did start mocking up the battery box and i now see i have to widen the one hole slightly, so tomorrow i'll be doing that, cleaning and rear carpet and installing it before bolting down the rear cusco bar and battery box. its supposed to rain some tomorrow so i might be restricted to finishing the subframe and whatever else i can do in the garage.

as mentioned earlier it rained all day, so i made the road trip to the junkyard and scored thisin case you cant tell that's a q45 vlsd i was thinking of using the ring and pinion gear to change the ratio, but after i thought about it, i might want shorter gearing for better acceleration. heres a thread i created to help me figure out what woudl be best, feel free to weigh inhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=388423

nothing else got done today, heres some funny pics of the junkyard guy torching the diff out of the subframe
