Off topic but free bump lol

Do any of you PA guys know the band August Burns Red? It's metal so not that mainstram but they're from lancaster lol. I've been listening to them for a while and seen them live a few times, but just realized they are from lancaster haha.

But on topic...what led bulbs are you using? Something custom or just the plug and play led bulbs?

ABR is pretty popular with the people i chill with. two of my buddies attend nearly every one of their shows.

lancaster has a decent music scene as far as band that make it big. "lil old amish country" my ***. we are doin' big thiiiings in lancaster. or "lanc-lanc" as the homies refer to it

lancaster is actually a pretty damn cool smaller city. i scrape my car through there a few times a week. seriously, i do

Well if things go the way i plan I'll have my suspension back on it today and I'll be takin it over to my friend's garage so I can stay warm and work on it... If it all pan's out that way... I should have everything done by next week or a little after x-mas but I'm off 4 day's this week so I should get a lot done and today's payday! I'm really needing some advice on what to do with the blown ka24de i just picked up for 20 bucks... I found a guy that has a good block with stock piston's and rod's still in it and the head on my blown one can be used again once I get it resurfaced. So i might go pick that up today if he call's me... That way I have a motor for my gray shell that I picked up....

WC is your VLSD a J30 one?Sorry if I missed what it was.

The guts of the J30 diff pop into the S13's diff ring gear right? That's what I've been reading but not so sure.

From what I heard, you pop out center section of the J30 and put it into the open diff's ring gear. And it's complete. (Do the years count? I would imagine not)

my vlsd is from a jdm s13, so i'm not sure on any of the j30 stuff. the diff i just picked up is a q45. i'm selling that just without the ring gear. after i get my car running and driving with the stock ring gear, i'm gonna swap in the q ring gear and see how it feels

small update, didnt have a whole lot of time to work on it on saturday since i had a wedding to go to, but i did manage to get the diff back in the housing and the housing bolted back up to the subframe. i bolted on all the rear arms as well (besides the rucas, which i havent ordered yet) and torqued everything to spec. the subframe is ready to go back up and the rucas can be added later.setting the proper torque

my wife took a random pic of the fsm

i can already tell the reshimmed diff is stronger. when turning one axle before the other one woudl budge slightly but not really want to turn. now the other axle wants to turn easily and it feels very solid. thats basically it for now, more updates to come possibly tuesday. i'd do some work tomorrow but i work most of the day, and its also my brother's bday. so i'll update again in a few days

excellent question. i've used a vlsd for years now and i like the way they feel, not as harsh of a transition as a welded but still nice (when not worn out). my fc has vlsd an i got used to it and this unit has been in my other 240 for about 2 years so i've grown to like it. the welded will work fine for a really cheap fix but its a blunt method with little precision. i can make a viscous pretty much do what i want it to, just ask didderson

no way man, the vlsd slides very nicely. the hlsd sucks at drifting, the vlsd is fine for it especially if you reshim it. i have a spare vlsd i'm looking to sell, and i'll even reshim it before i sell it

hey WC, how hard was shimming the vlsd? I was reading up on this and apparantely shimming a vlsd will make it lock like a 1.5 way clutch type lsd!
