keegan- just called you, hope the coupe isn't too messed up
update from a couple days ago-i didnt have a keyboard for a couple days or else i would have updated sooner. i would have worked on the car some this morning, but it was raining. these pics and progress are from wednesday, i only had a half day, since i had to be at work at 4pm.
for starters, heres pics of the hardware holding the batter box down. one of teh carriage bolts was too close to where the subframe mounted up ( thanks to didderson for pointing it out) so i removed that bolts and sealed it with caulk
originally, i had only 3 bolts holding it down, since one of the holes was too close to the rail to get a nut on it. but after i couldnt use the hole near where the subframe mounts, i found a way to back that bolt work. I took a metal pipe nipple to use as a space and then tightened with a washer and nutso it's still held in with 3 bolts, but now none interfere with the subframe.
after teh batter box situation was taken care of, the gas tank was ready to go up. it was kind of a pain, but i got it up there myself, i just needed my brother to push it up a little as i strapped it down. Before the tank went up though, i cut lengths of rubber hose for the fuel lines. i clamped the hoses down to the hard lines and after the tank was mounted, i fed each line up, cut the excess, and clamped them at the tank.heres the hoses clamped to hard lines.
heres the hoses clamped at the tank after everything was up
i need a ziptie, but i left a little slack in case the tank has to come down again, god forbid
i ended up getting really lucky with where the battery box bolts came down. its hard to see in the one pic but the one bolt is actually resting against the tank and the other is close to interfering with the hardware for the strap.not bad for just randomly deciding where to mount the battery box.
all said and done though, the gas tank is bolted upi have the 2 metal plates that cover the fuel pump hole and harness painted black and dried in the paint booth
It looks like there's still a hatch leak, so next on the list is to find and fix that. Unfortunately, rain water got in and got under the fatmat, so i need to seal the leak and rip up the back half of the fatmat, since there's water trapped under it now and then redo it . if i dont feel like messing with that right away, the rear subframe is ready to go up whenever i have the manpower around to lug that thing out there. i'll have an update in the next few days and there should be a few christmas presents coming for the car .
Merry Christmas, Nico!!!
