hmmm

is the vlsd you're selling the one out of the 94 q45?if so, ive been doing a little research and from what i can understand, the only way for it to work in a s13 is if you have90-94 Q45 5-lug rear hubs 2 new axles: One from a turbo Z32, and one from a Q45 and a different driveshaft or flange because the flange is larger.

if this is the case, i dont think the swap would be worth it.

however, is it possible to just swap the "guts" from the q45 vlsd into my stock s13 pumpkin? if thats the case id be all over it.

sorry, im a little when it comes to gearing.

update-

not too many pics cuz i was busy working, but josh (hbpignose) stopped by to gimme a hand, and we got the rear carpet done and vacuumed. we put the carpet down so we could slit little holes for mounting the battery box and mount for the cusco tri strut bar

after that i put my last coat of truck bed liner on the rear half and got ready to mount the gas tank. i switched the stock fuel pump for the walborro pump and grabbed some fuel line to replace the brittle old ones. i made a quick trip to the hardware store for new bolts to secure the gas tank with. I also touched up the gas tank with one more coat of truck bed liner, but at that point it got dark and i didnt get the tank mounted up. today i worked and it rained all day anyways, but before work tomorrow, if i have time, i'm ready to mount the rear subframe and gas tank. the battery box put up a little bit of a fight since didderson pointed out that one of the bolts that comes through will interfere with the subframe bushing. i spent a little bit of time trying to figure out where to move it before figuring out how to pull it off by keeping it where it was. i had pics of all thsi but my memory card got full and i thought i was only deleting old pics to make room, but apparently i got rid of a couple new pics as well. i retake them tomorrow to show how i made the battery box work. the stupid rain is really getting on my nerves but i hope to have a few hours tomorrow before working all day (11am- close), but more pics will come tomorrow. right now i'm about to update my brother's camaro thread

i think you can just swap the guts in, but i dont know for sure. if i had a spare housing laying around i'd try it. it should work, they're both r200 diffs

wow, thats really good for that kit, the motor runs like a beast. got it dynoed but the idiots did it in 3rd instead of 4th and boost was just the stock 7psi so it only hit 180whp. i dont know anyone off the top of my head that woudl want to trade but i'll let ya know if i do

that'll be a nice little change from the sr

keegan- just called you, hope the coupe isn't too messed up

update from a couple days ago-i didnt have a keyboard for a couple days or else i would have updated sooner. i would have worked on the car some this morning, but it was raining. these pics and progress are from wednesday, i only had a half day, since i had to be at work at 4pm.

for starters, heres pics of the hardware holding the batter box down. one of teh carriage bolts was too close to where the subframe mounted up ( thanks to didderson for pointing it out) so i removed that bolts and sealed it with caulk

originally, i had only 3 bolts holding it down, since one of the holes was too close to the rail to get a nut on it. but after i couldnt use the hole near where the subframe mounts, i found a way to back that bolt work. I took a metal pipe nipple to use as a space and then tightened with a washer and nutso it's still held in with 3 bolts, but now none interfere with the subframe.

after teh batter box situation was taken care of, the gas tank was ready to go up. it was kind of a pain, but i got it up there myself, i just needed my brother to push it up a little as i strapped it down. Before the tank went up though, i cut lengths of rubber hose for the fuel lines. i clamped the hoses down to the hard lines and after the tank was mounted, i fed each line up, cut the excess, and clamped them at the tank.heres the hoses clamped to hard lines.

heres the hoses clamped at the tank after everything was up

i need a ziptie, but i left a little slack in case the tank has to come down again, god forbid

i ended up getting really lucky with where the battery box bolts came down. its hard to see in the one pic but the one bolt is actually resting against the tank and the other is close to interfering with the hardware for the strap.not bad for just randomly deciding where to mount the battery box.

all said and done though, the gas tank is bolted upi have the 2 metal plates that cover the fuel pump hole and harness painted black and dried in the paint booth

It looks like there's still a hatch leak, so next on the list is to find and fix that. Unfortunately, rain water got in and got under the fatmat, so i need to seal the leak and rip up the back half of the fatmat, since there's water trapped under it now and then redo it . if i dont feel like messing with that right away, the rear subframe is ready to go up whenever i have the manpower around to lug that thing out there. i'll have an update in the next few days and there should be a few christmas presents coming for the car .

Merry Christmas, Nico!!!

sorry, i woudl have updated sooner but i got distracted by a house marathon. this update isn't the greatest since they are no pics. I'll snap some pics tomorrow, but today was just too busy. I went over in the morning and decided to pull the subframe out to the car and start getting it lined up. As I was pulling it out my dad walked up and decided he'd give me and hand and we'd get the subframe up. It took lots of tweaking, 2 jacks, a hammer, chisel and a socket set but after lots of time we got it up. everything is bolted on and secured. By the time we got the sub frame up, i was running late for work and had to head out, leaving my dad to clean up. After i got done with work I came back and torqued all the subframe nuts to the proper setting (87 ft-lbs). and started to clean the rear kyb struts. they were grimy with years of road dirt but after some scrubbing they looked clean again. . i mounted the struts on the lower mount. tomorrow i will secure the upper nuts, install the brakes and tires. after that the rear underside needs touched up and little, and the front underside will be coated in truck bed liner. Its supposed to get to 50 tomorrow, so i'll use the warmer weather to reseal the taillights to stop the leaking. after the leaking is fixed, the fatmat will ripped up and cleaned of any water underneath before more fatmat can be laid down.

As you can see there's a lot to do, but with the subframe up, i feel like everything is coming together. i don't have to work until 3pm tomorrow, so we'll see how much I can get done.

depending on the year, you only need the axles to run a q45 vlsd. there's a few at my local JY

im glad to see you replaced the rubber fuel lines going to gas tank while you were down there. nothing sucks worse than driving down the road and watching your gas needle go to empty in triple time...and fuel vapors inside car. lol

been there
