The belts are setup better and the oil pump is easy to replace. Love SOHC.

well i was trying to assemble my head and i got as far as installing my solid lifters. for some reason they are binding up. i cannot rotate the cam. i had this same problem on my last head. i returned the lifters and he sent me new ones. i have them all the way backed out but they just wont allow the cam to turn. also when i un did the jam nut the unit just spun inside the lifter. i will try to contact omar on monday to see what his opinions are.

i bet the valves were hitting the pistons.... haha. i tried to put my engine in my toyota pickup the other day. i put the clutch/flywheel on before the dust plate haha. oops. so i took it back off and fixed it.

dont worry mistakes happen.

no it was even worse...the head was off. i was trying to rotate the cam and it wouldnt move. I was thinking what the heck is going on with this lifter having no clearence. turns out that that lifter was trying to open that valve so there would be no clearence. I couldnt rotate the damn cam because these springs are so damn tough...long story short...I dont know why but i was thinking that there should have been clearence the entire rotation of cam...which offcourse is impossible. 6 hours later i went back and face palmed myself  It was early in the morning

sorry its been so slow guys...all this training for my upcoming deployment makes this thing move a mach turtle speed...as a matter fact i have to go out to sea for the next 2.5 weeks to practice amphibiously attacking a beach... trust me as the progress comes you guys will see it...i even get hassled at work for this thing to be done...people stop me out in town and hassle me, dont even know some of them, creepy!

You just robbed ur passenger of Nissans door panel integrated OH $HIT! Handle lol Amazing build my fellow enthusiast. I always wanted to twin-charge my 65' Mustang, but for muscle cars that a much more common sighting.

Also why not opt for a centrifugal supercharger like a Vortech Unit?
Image
mounting a belt off the extra set on the crank pulley for the AC Unit or combining it to the serpentine setup wouldn't be to hard and neither would the intake piping. Possibly Tri-Charged KA24E in the future.....lol :naughty:

yes i thought of doing that with the centrifugal but in reality it was an impulse buy since it was crazy cheap for my eaton. for the idea of tricharging...its been tossed around but quickly slapped out of my mind. the funny thing about it all is that the car couldnt stay straight with the turbo setup, now with the twincharged setup up ill have more sooner. well im back from my 3 weeks stuck on ship at sea, lots of thinking happend so some small changes/ tests will be occuring.

Nice, do eet. Also recently we have been discussing indexing spark plugs, in the KA forum, and it seems KAe has something to gain from it.

It is very nice that somebody is actually "doing it" SOHC build. I gave my blown engine to somebody that was supposed to beat up on Sr's and never completed the build. So the crap talking above ^ means nothing until it is done and "beating up on KA/SR DOHC's"

I know you have spent a lot of $$$ on this build to be different. Good luck with it. If you put your mind to it any engine can be faster.

Another single cam build I wouldn't mind doing would be the VG30ET.

Actually this engine had been done and running. Minus the supercharger. And it was putting d!ck in the dirt. Sr ka rb all got walked on power wise. Never had achance to track it though before I tore into it again. This will run and will be a beast. It's just being a marine and training for another deployment doesn't really offer me much time to tinker. I'm in the field right now wearing all my same gear that I have been wearing since I assaulted the beach in chest high ocean water a week ago. I've pulled 3 engines 2 trannies 1 transfer and done 5 headgaskets with my 3 man team in this time all on a beach in the sand..... But still no time for my own car:( I'll be back on Friday so I'll have a few days to finish the pulley plate template before I get to go home and see my family for the first time in a year. Maybe me and motoman will meet up this time. Just a small rant don't mind me I actually love the Marine Corps just alittle stressful but atleast I got my iphone

Great build man, I just skimmed through all 12 pages of badassness. Can't wait to see/hear it run with the twin charge setup. Great fab skills as well!
