This thread was great to read through... I'm just finishing up my ka-e rebuild, and I'm glad to see someone else likes to put together great looking motors also.

usually I wouldnt get upset about this....but, 1- Never said it was baller2- mostly ebay, My rims, intercooler, exhaust & exhaust wrap.,oil sandwich...but mostly ebay3- Crazy never thought Frsport, enjuku, xcessive, amsperformance, aem, cusco, jgsperformance, origin, greddy, shaftmasters, were all cheap parts.4- I wish my car was mostly ebay, then I wouldnt feel bad about the thousands of dollars I spent on real parts. you can get ANYTHING on Ebay...that doesnt mean its cheap.5- My sohc ka24e prolly cost more than what alot of people on this forum have put into or bought their car for.6- "ebay special" ignorance is bliss

if there is anything else I missed on my ebay purchaces please let me know.

Exactly. Ebay is just an overused phrase to degrade the majority of the knock-off parts that we all know about. However, why not bargain for the same exact parts for a better price? Ebay has EVERYTHING as he says.

Anywho, glad to see you're reposting again. I admire the effort you put into your cars.

When I get off this ship I will definetly post up some pics of the installation of all these parts I just ordered. I just cant wait to get back so I can drive them again. 2 months to go.I am a 100% supporter of ebay. You gotta have common sense when your using it though.

well purchase update. since mister anti ebay ruffled my feathers. I decided to change my exhaust for BRM, actually had to since i caught a sewer lid and ripped a whole in my EBAY one, and I also ordered the knocklight setup from jgstools.

okay one more update. I purchased the skid plate that is offered in the fabricators market.I was a little worried about wacking my oil pan on anything especially since it alone has cost me 600 and some change with the sr20det front sump. I may have to mod the plate since its for the DE but with my xcessive pan and sr sump I might not, only time will tell.

small update...just got the skull and bones oil block adapter...my oil sandwhich makes me nervous everytime i look at...I also ordered a relocation plate and steel braided lines and fittings.Trying to get a hold of ls auto for their 180mph speedoand xcessive is coming out with a crank scraper that they are giving me a crazy deal on since we arent 100% it will work on the sohc.

just a few more weeks before picture time

okay, so i got 5 days left on this ship...its like a prison. I just order the solid lifter conversion from o&J performance so i will be seeing that in about 3-4 weeks. hopefully that takes care of my ticking on decel. But i will be posting pics of everything prolly within the next week or so. I only have about 45 days when i get back to get everything on and back to the dyno and finished since i might be getting sent to 29 palms for my next duty station. hopefully not cause that place is hell!

just a few things; i know most don't apply since you've resolved/swapped the parts, but for future reference I guess:

The ebay cat-backs don't seem to play nice w/the stock cat/downpipe, I think they may work w/o problems w/their own brand downpipe and test pipe, but w/the stock ones they tend to leak a bit from mis-alignment. Not a big whoop, but it reminds us of the need for a flex pipe at the downpipe. My brother resolved his using some ceramic/synthetic goop they sell at autozone to fix exhaust leaks....not the greatest way of doing things but it's held up for 3 years now.

I'd suggest not solid mounting the intercooler or radiators for that matter. Get some rubber spacers/washers to help support it. The vibration tends to crack the aluminum welds over time and the grommets help reduce a bit of noise as well.

Also: There was a member here I don't know maybe 3 or 4 years ago w/one of the hottest sil-80's on the board. It was a two tone brown/beige beauty, which show even brown works awesome (chmecer I think was his name), his ride was stolen and gutted unfortunately. There was also a hot hatch in dark nismo blue w/over fenders i think going by the nick bomexs13. So both colors could work great, just in case I missed whether you painted it already or not.

The ticking noise that I mentioned was acutaully one of the lifter retainers. It snappped some how and was bouncing around in there.

well, i get back from deployment and you would think they would have gotten my single gauge... they didnt 7 months and i come back and its still not there...i did eventually get it but...dont go there. literly they relate everything to hondas and think they have the same stuff as other cars...dont get me wrong all cars have similar characteristics but they figure everything is the SAME...i have personally gone to many schools for cars including a honda school and im ase certified in many fields, but these guys...for all you out there that know some things you can always tell when the other person gets their info from either a magazine or some 10 year old ...and that is my impression of them.....
