problem? LMK what you have found, im about to take my VC off and make sure everything is fine after 800miles of breaking in the head. and 600-1000 at idle is pretty crazy, my cute 264's dont even lobe. quick ? for you and inkslinger, both of you have built heads in your set ups, if you already had a tune for your prior mods would you still require a re-tune for a built head W/264's? i hear yes and no, people say it just kind leans out toward high rpms but just to get a FPR and raise it. you guys have pretty extensive builds and im sure you have some input. and inkslinger i love tattoos bro, too expensive though i got some more ink on the way after my 240.

UPDATE:

Sweet Thanks man. Yeah i took my valve cover off yesterday and found out that my timeing was off by a link on the intake and exhuast cams. So im pretty definate thats what my problem was with my engine idleing rough like bouncing from 600-900RPM and then dieing shortly after. Plus i found some odd wear marks on some of my rocker pads and cam lobes.

pics are comeing now

Later edit:

Haveing camera difficulties

The white marks on my Timeing chain indicate the silverlinks to line up the cams, Since i couldent find the silverlink on the first time i put the cams in cause the chain has so much built up oil on it i couldnt find the silver links i just did it by eye i put the cams at 10 and 12'o clock and made surethe crank pully was at TDC.But this time I counted the links on the spare timeing chain on an extra SR block that i had to find the silver links.

This is the cams being 1 link off on both cams. Here you can see the cams and the white mark on the crank pully showing its at TDC .here is the CAS that shows that its lined up right with the yellowish orangeish mark.

here is the strange mark i found on the cam lobe on the exhuast cam.

this was the mark i found on the 1st exhuast cam lobe Rocker pad

This is the 1st camlobe on the exhuast cam

cam capsIntake cam journal

Intake cam lobe 2intake cam lobe #3

Intake cam

Intake cam lobe #2 rokerpad

cams put back in and timeing is dead onIntake came now correctExhuast cam now correctNotice one of the cam cap bolts not screwd in on the last cap on the exhuast cam.HAHA yeah im lucky that the bottom piece of the bolt didt break off and was still hanging on bye hair when i took it out.here you see the crank is at TDC notice the white mark on the crank pully and the cams are nows lined up correctly with the CAS and mated with the yellow orangish dot on my CAS.And the valve cover waiting for a new cam cap bolt.

Looking good! Nice you got that bolt out w/o probs. I've snapped off my exhaust manifold stud in my head and had to pull it all off and take to the machine shop to have them drill it out and re-tap the hole

yeah i know what you mean i have had the same thing happen to me when i first got my SR but luckily i used an easy out with pb blaster and it came out fine. But now im running my new peakboost exhuast manifold and turbo I replaced the stock studs with ARP exhuast manifold studs. And i love them.

Yea i know what you mean I'm using ARP main studs in my dohc swap but ARP doesn't make exhaust manifold bolts for the ka.... So I went to the hardware store and picked some up that were the same thread pitch
