Great looking wheels, Dont you think they are too big though? Wont be able to run alot of rubber, unless they are just street tires and u have a seperate 4 the track or something. Anyways i just read the entre vq swap into s13 thread (yea i kno im late) and i dunno man..... i might keep it nissan with the motor swap. I mean for the price its cheaper than a 2j, lighter than a 2j, and more reilable... but lets see how your build makes out and what trials and tribulations u have to go through.

God damnit, I love this project so much, damn you for being such a cool, unique person with your 2jz. You're gonna not only smoke everyone, but you're gonna seriously get the ladies. Good luck man, and thanks for giving me something cool to look at while I work.

haha thanks. u wont be let down by the finished product i gurantee.

ChukiCoupe:The wheels are wide as **** lol thank you for noticing haha. i wanted this aggressive stance i think it looks awesome. this car is just a weekend fun car prolly wont see any track time at all. Honestly do wutever u feel is worth doing if u think VQ is better then by all means do it up (but do it up right), ya i paid alot of money for this swap but i kno im gunna be very pleased with the results. Before i started this swap I was gunna do an SR swap and make it bulletproof like the guy's silvia im working with, but then he was tellin me about how he could get a 2J but it was kinda a long shot swap. But i jumped on that opportunity just cuz it's different and it was a long shot, there's maybe only a handful of Silvia's in Canada with 2J swaps so naturally i wanted to do it. the motor just has so much potential once u finally get it in there, it was too hard too pass this opportunity up, which brings me to where i am today. hope u enjoy the rest of the swap, maybe ull be swayed by the finished product

What all do you have to wire up? The motor is wired to the control unit on its own isn't it? So you jus gotta supply power and ground (switched 12v). From there it's the alternator and starter which is fairly easy to figure out with the old CA harness. The speedo and tach. may suck, but you don't really need that to run so you can take your time figuring that out. Look up Dakota digital. This box modifies sensor outputs so can use your factory speedo..... Anywho, badass build thread! It's easy for people to talk trash when your the one doing the trial and error....514

im using power fc. so i wanna make sure its done right lol yeah i see that i didnt put it in there. gotta hook up all the oil lines, fuel lines turbo lines pretty much everything that hooks up to the engine haha then the IC pipes and exhaust. so still quite a bit of work to be done. prolly gunna go with falken azenis 225 in the front and 255 in the rear to give it a ridiculous stretch and then ill drop it about shocker height

ps. love my volk's there gunna be hawt on the car. lol pic is sidewayz but the rim sticks out like atleast an inch so im glad i rolled the fenders

So, I really wanted to not like your build as I am a very serious CA lover. But I can't hate. Very nice. Keep it up!

yo man, how much did you have to hack your bumper/support to get your front mount to fit?? We had this disscussion a while back but I just remember you saying it was a *****. Just wondering what intercooler setup you were running as well, just to have an idea of what you dealt with. Im running the Greddy LS-spec. thanks buddy

Fcuk srry guys **** has been an effin mess lately. plans to finish the car went a stray when i got the quote back from the shop, they wanted like over 6000 to finish the car, so i kindly told them to F*** off and left. i was REALLY frustrated having half of summer left and nothing fast too drive...i bought a crotch rocket

and ya been having loads of fun with that since. anyways back on topic. the car IS being finished. i found a friend of a friend the other day who is doing an LS1 swap in a silvia and said he would be more than happy to help out. unfortunately im leaving to new zealand in 3 weeks for 18 months which kinda sux cuz im not gunna be around to finish most of it, but ill make sure he takes lots of pics. im looking into bringing the car over on a temporary loophole system as long as i can pass a cpl requirements, if not i will VERY UNFORTUNATELY have to sell it.

alright so not too much since we just started back up again, we put on the Ichiba 5 lug kit, new rotors and im just waiting on some brake pads before i out the calipers on, lol stupid ichiba sent the wrong studs. the ones in the bag were like 14mm and the actual size was like 12mm. so i test fitted the wheels after finding out the socket Volk sent me with the wheels was the wrong size....., there gunna look SO FRIGGIN HOT once i get the car off the stands and the freshly painted kit back on. im actually ordering the tires like tommorow. i wanna go with falken azenis like 235/?/18 and 255/?/18. if u guys get back to me in time id like to hear some suggestions for tread wall width. again srry for taking so long to post anything at all. believe me i wish the car would have been done A LONG TIME AGO!!!!!!!!. newayz cheers hope to hear back from you guys that are following my thread.

Whoa, didn't see that comming...

I would go with 235/40 or 35/18 and 255/40/18

It kinda gives it the staggerd look. What's the specs on the rims?

specs are 18X9.5 +12 and 18X10.5 +15as for the new zealand thing ya...i started to look into work holidays in the summer and decided that was wut i wanted to do with my year off from school. is 40 not a little high? these bad boys are gunna need to be stretched cuz ya there is definately not much room at all even with just the wheel on.

Yeah 1000cc is madness. I used to ride a 2003 r6, and have ridden a handful of the liter bikes and they are just way too fast.

Haha sorry. I don't mean to give you a hard time, but I was just perusing your thread again from the beginning... it was hard to hear that the car isn't going to be finished anytime soon.

I dunno i can see how ppl think that, for me i just give it lots of respect and i try to limit the stupid ****. altho i did my first wheelie a little while ago .no that is far from the truth actually lol. it just would be VERY hard to finish it before i leave not too mention ALOT of money for rush shipping and so forth. The car is getting finished i just wont be on this continent to see it become one unfortunately. im still gunna get as much done as possible tho before i go. harness is getting sent away this week to tech2, uhh we are gunna get the brake lines, fuel lines, oil lines. once the tyres come in i can role the car to my friends garage to fab the IC piping and exhaust piping which i have. after that its just make some brackets to hold in things like Oil Cooler, IC few other things, then wire everything up and tune and its doneish. minus the interior, but i dont care! lol. ya i actually did the same thing...sounded so optimistic before...but i guess thats life, u win some u lose some. anyways i just hope i can take this thing with me cuz otherwise it would be an absolute shame to have to part ways with it.

Well the "stretch" look is determined by the realitive width of your wheels to your tires. The side wall's height can easily be adjusted for based on height of the car (ie Coils can drop you cars height to make the wheels tuck under the fender)

I wouldn't stray far away from my side wall numbers.Maybe go xxx/30/xx front and xxx/30/xx

Anything less then 35 will become a headache and anything less then 30 is going to be dangerous

Man a R1 for a first bike...good to hear you are still breathing. I work on motorcycles and i hear to many horro stories about first time riders and liter bikes. I willing to bet Your first wheelie on that bike is the first time you layed hard into first gear. I have a 05 r1 and these will do all the wheelieing for you. I was beating 600cc bikes in my stock rb20. your 2jz setup and good tune in a light 240 you will be eating bikes up left and right
