I remember sitting in both of them at NAIAS... Sky was way nicer, Pontiac's knobs and whatnot just seemed to grow out of the plastic. But enough about that crap. My 240, even while rusting out, is of higher build quality than both of those cars, it looks proper, and there's enough room for me to fit in it. And I'm not even tall! (6')

I sat in both yesterday, and i freaking LOVE the sky. Shifter feels amazing, interior is pretty nice, i just dont like the fact that theres no trunk..

If i had to get any GM and not a corvette, it would be a sky redline

But back to the revival of the S topic, its not gonna happen untill the RWD Tibby comes out (assuming it sells like crazy), and if that RWD scion AE86 thing comes out.

Unless that happens, then i doubt the S chassis will be making another apperarance.

Are you saying that you think Saturn is *not* a GM company?

It would be awesome if you guys would stop being ignorant.

Who is #1 in the world in quality and reliability right now? Buick. That is not an opinion, that is a fact. GM is not the company it was in the 80s. GM now has as high quality, if not higher quality, than Toyota.

You mean *right now*? Usually these things are gauged over a long period of time - its a weather vs climate thing. Just because it rains in the desert on a day you are there doesn't mean it gets a lot of rain.

Read the list at the bottom of this page http://autos.msn.com/advice/CR...23544 and tell me how many Buicks (or American cars in general) you see on the left hand side. The only Buick I see in the entire list is in the least reliable column.

If you are refering to this article http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/0...x.htm I will agree that Buick has made some progress as have many American car makers, but its says that Buick and Lexus are tied. Last I checked Lexus was a Toyota company. For what the average Buick costs I'd expect a lot for my dollar (Lexus for that matter too). Lets see how American quality runs over a 5 or 10 year span. Check out this article http://www.mycarstats.com/auto...s.asp and then look at the recalls by manufacturer over the time period. Buick is pretty low on the list at 232, but look at all the American car makers that have 1000+ recalls. Sure Buick may have fewer recalls than does Toyota, but lets compare the recalls against the number of models available and vehicles sold and see which comes out on top (which really makes the American car makers look absolutely horrendous).

Don't get all your information from one source, and never form an opinion and then look for the data to back it up - you'll usually be able to find the data to support it, but it won't necessarily make you right.

Hey, I will be the first to admit that GM quality SUCKED in the 80s and 90s. They deserve the reputation they have. All I am saying is that it seems like the bias against the Solstice and Sky is a little unfounded.

And it still sucks, otherwise people would be buying more GM cars and Detroit/Windsor would be saved. This city sucks.

I never picked up on any bias, maybe I'm not looking hard enough. I've seen the insides of both and the Saturn certainly looks nicer on the inside than the Pontiac. The Solstice just looks to me like the design team said "That's good enough". Not driven either one myself, and would only drive the tc'ed versions of either one. I'm sure the suspension of either is better than my S13, but the power to weight ratio of the NA versions look KA territory to me.

I'd take either Redline/GXP versions over a Miata any day, and their bang for the buck ratio puts them ahead of the 350Z and Boxster territory, with a lot less money spent on parts/maintenance and insurance.

I'd just like to see the quality and attention to detail that companies have put into various "pet projects" into the vehicles for the masses - that's what will turn the American car market around, not a few outstanding rides and high quality from keynote brands.

I fully concur, this thread probably should have been locked already. It should be renamed "free post count multiplier!!!". This has went from new s-16 to why the American car industry sucks.I for one would love to have a Saturn Sky. I have the money, just not enough desire to spend it on a car that isn't practical for my needs. I have a wife and 3 boys, so I need my "toy" to be as cheap as can be. I may actually spend $25-$30 grand on this car, but not all at once and it's not mandatory. I can spend money as my budget (mainly my wife) allows.I would gladly sign a petition to resurrect the s-chassis, but I would wait and buy a used one several years down the road, and then build it the way I want it.

inbtl but seriously saturn sky is randomly appearing all over this thread and for all the bashers of it it handles really nice after all suspension was designed by lotus : ) lol just thought you guys should know and the ideas the kid presented in the begining of this thread are redic im sorry but no car company would ever have a car with the option of a 4cyl then a tt v6 lol maybe a 4cyl then a turboed one but also the whole awd thing it would be rare for a company to have a car with awd as an option it would be expensive for manufactorers to design both on one platform i would imagine i mean they did do it with the skyline tho so who knows.

AWD would ruin what I like about the 240sx. Simplicity. People forget that the more stuff you add to anything, the more stuff that is there to break. fewer moving parts = greater reliability. Also there is that whole drivetrain power loss thing.

anyone who is saying anything positive about the Sky needs to go and read Car and Drivers review when they compared it to the Solstice. And then go read what they said about the Solstice.

to sum it up, IIRC, Solstice = not so bad, but still crappy, and the Sky = total absolute crap.

This thread is a such a massive failure...WILL SOMEBODY LOCK IT ALREADY???

AWD, TT V6, Infiniti-grade interior...GTFO with that bull****. Optional or not. How the hell is any of that related to what the 240SX is/was? I'm glad you don't work for Nissan. This thread is just full of hopes and dreams, just envisioning one's ideal car.

It would suck balls anyways. NEW CARS SUCK! There's a few I like don't get me wrong but the majority of them have so much useless garbage (park-assist...are people seriously that ****ing lazy?) and safety features in them...I guarantee you nobody's ever gonna use all of them. Most people don't even know what the hell they are. Once people achieve perfection, they try to improve it more and that's where they fail (Example: Subaru in the design department). And if I want a sports car (or something similar), I don't want paddle shifters (GT-R or Ferraris are exceptions), I want a true manual because I don't give a flying **** if a computer can shift faster than me, I don't want a plush interior, I want the basics only, and I sure as hell don't want any goddamn traction like ****ing wrong-wheel drive car! WTF is wrong with you???

I laughed so hard because it's so true. Like seriously who the F!@# needs traction control and stability control and all that nonsense. I don't mind side airbags and airbags that is secretly hidden lols. Your rant just made my day.
