I know that a lot of nico forum members love the S series. Since Nissan is no longer busy developing the GT-R. Let's ask their CEO to make another car like the S series, something that is not a cheaper 350Z. (if that's even possible)

Something 20K range starting price with a lot of different fronts and at least two body styles, just like how the S series was made so people can pick more options. Turbo, NA an S/C options for people who can spend more cash, etc. Optional paddle shifters and better interiors for people who are into Porche style cars. V6 Twin-Turbo for smoking the Mustang and Corvettes. AWD option for snowy areas and wet roads. Different LSD options for drifters and muscles.

And don't forget, Adding in V6-TT and AWD in $15K car isn't what this is all about. There's more to it.Interior - Add in about $4K for Infinity grade Interior. No power but it looks good for people who care about that.Power - Add in about $8K for V6 from 350Z. Not as good on handling but the car will make power to beat any Honda or Mitsubishi or Mustang.Handling - Add in $6K Sport package, Brakes and Suspension. There won't be power but great for staying on the road. Honda S2000 would be the target.AWD - Add in $4K for traction FWD cars have. No one will be complaining how they can't drive the car in the north. This is NOT the AWD GT-R has, more like from the Skyline Sedans.Inline-4 Turbo - Add in $2K for extra 70 Horses. Not a bad thing for rushing down the highway.Aero Kits - Add in $2K for nothing but looks. They don't help but a lot of people pay money for just that.FlexFuel - FlexFuel E85 can go very well with Turbo. E85 works best under higher compression. Increasing Boost with it can give more power for same reliability. (w/o detonation)Three different fronts and bodies for people who want open top or hatch to hold cargo. It's just a few extra body panels to design. Scion xA, xB, xD had more things to design.

If the customer want just plain jane, they can have it with basic Inline-4 and nothing else for $15K just like before.

All these options simply sourced from parts already in other cars by Nissan. So development cost will be down, reliability will be high and profit margins will be high with possibility to outsell Honda Civic. Everyone know how much Tuners like us spend on their cars.

Online petition is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about each of us sending in our written and signed letters together to Nissan's CEO. What do you say?

I like the idea but things like AWD, TT, and a V6 will move the car up in the price ladder above the EVO/STI. Those features would be a mistake. Keep it simple. RWD, LSD, Light, Turbo, and above all cheap. These are the features that made the S chassis such a cult classic. It will need all of them to succeed if revived.

Internet petitions have absolutely zero weight, especially coming from a community that for the most part, cannot afford a brand new car.

And to be quite honest, I don't think Nissan is capable of designing a good economy sportster that isn't downright hideous. =\

That just makes a more expensive 350Z. Nissan is more likely to give the Z33 more balls than start a new line. Rumors consist of a Supercharged or possibly V8 Z. They won't make a superior car to take sales away from one of their flagships. If they do make another S it won't be AWD or V6.

Agreed. Nissan already has an AWD, TT V6 car. I personally think it should have been a TT V8 as the Z has a V6 but that's for another discussion...

Anyways, if Nissan were to resurrect the S-chassis (which I highly doubt), it should embody what they were originally. A 2.0 (or 2.4) liter single turbo engine would be just fine. It should be under $30K...better yet 20. An affordable, lightweight, sport compact is what it should be about. Nothing more, nothing less. It would be in competition with the Sky, Solstice, and the new Tiburon...well the non-V8 to be more specific.

Petitions like this really aren't effective at all. It may attract slight attention but it really won't get further than a long list of names.

If they went though with this, I would only hope that they don't **** up in the design department...but they probably would anyways.

Also, it wouldn't the same because they'd add so much safety features and nonsensical gadgets and other useless **** as if it were catering to soccer moms.

keep it simple... a 4cyl rwd coupe or fastback (in anycase a hardtop) w/ an turbo 4... something to compete w/ the solstice/sky/mx5/any damn small 4rwd car that cost around 20-25k... v6s and awd flappy paddles... all that bs just ads money and may not add as much to the marketability of the car as it will to the price... all in all... id just be damn happy w/ a 4 cyl rwd manual hardtop coupe from nissan

If you want the car to be simple just buy the base model. If you want V6-TT then ask the dealer to sell you one. That's why it says OPTIONAL. The main point is a car that can penetrate any and all market with a single platform.

You can't have a platform that does it all. Creating one that would would directly affect other platforms sales. Which is possibly a reason for the S not having a turbo the first time around in the States. Cheaper, lighter Z would steal Z sales. They won't do any of that. Lets be a realist and ask for a makeable car if we are going to ask for one at all.

To compete with sky/solstice, the new S would look like miata or something. Totally different department, dude. Although i would love to see a S16 (rwd, sporty coupe with a 4 banger, possibly a turbo), but i doubt it will happen. From all the petitioners, probably only 10% of them could afford it. So what's the point for Nissan make another one? So the 90% can drool and dream about it?

I'd send a petition, so consider me in if anything is to develop...the least it could do is show nissan that they have the "potential" to market a rwd platform to a community that may not have the means or wants of the Iconic "Z"....or they might just think...why dont they just go out and buy used Z's

True die-hard automotive enthusiasts are the minority. Car companies cater to those concerned with safety/reliability aka those who just need to get from Point A to Point B before anything/anyone else.

Nissan won't listen.

it would be nice to see a s16 with the same stuff as the other s chassi, but just to see it being "new and modern", but i think some of us just want a cheapper z

all of the members on nico have cars capable of beating those mentioned cars (mx5, solstice, sky, etc etc)

nissan would probably screw it up, by making the car look like a sentra

s13 till i die!!!! (in it)

It would be really cool. I think it's quite unlikely but hey if Dodge can build a budget rocket like the srt4 (even though based on a Neon) I don't see why Nissan couldn't do something similar with a rwd platform. Oh wait... they don't even have a rwd platform available for something like this.

If they ever made one it'ed prob use the sentra ser spec V motor the 2.5, in a transvers mounting with a 5 speed or 6 speed manual, or sport shift automajic. bare boned 2+2 like the original with no fancy options, prob only have options of auto or manual and prob have lsd standard and traction controle with ABS. If it were ever to be real, i doubt any turbo etc.. just as the 240sx used a NA KA it would most likely use the NA 2.5

don't know if ied like how it'ed look, all the car manufacturers are useing cookie cutter styling, the whole line up look the same, they don't design cars unique with its own look an personality like the old ones.

Yeah I agree. It would probably be n/a and then putting on a turbo would be a huge p.i.t.a. because of all the new emissions stuff.

It would be nice but most likely won't happen. I think my next purchase is going to be a 6-speed G35 with nav or possibly G37.

the proposed "s16" is entirely unrealistic. it has to broad of a scope, which exponentially increases cost. take some business classes and try again.

G37 MSRP with options is like 44,000.I'm talking about $20 car that can have just the same engine for extra $7K.Or Just the same AWD system for extra 4K.

It't not meant to compete with other platforms. Just sourcing a few features from other platforms to suit different and not too rich people's taste.Wouldn't it be nice to have a car that is not the same as everyone else's Civic?

That's the whole point. Call it whatever, but it won't be the same as the other car (in most cases) parked next to it. If you look at Civics, they all look the same, except the body kits.

This is about a car that can be different beyond the body kits like Scion or Civic. It's about a car that is made for driver's taste, with no other stuff to pay for.

That's why it will sell, more than any other car.

If you want ATTESA-ETS in a coupe, the only choice you have is G37 or GT-R. You can't have it in a $20K Nissan. So where do you go? Subaru and Mitsubishi. That's how an idea like this can sell.

The cost of development for all the options 'WOULD' be very expensive IF Nissan hasn't made them all already. But they have. It's about putting the stuff together.

It is interesting to think about... I know there have been threads created questioning whether or not you would buy a 240sx if it was front wheel drive... hmmmm... well at least it would still look good. Now what if Nissan DID make a cheap, easily tunable rwd car but it looked like the current Sentra....?...
