It's funny you say that. I've finally settled in on this 4 lug setup:
17x9+20 006's
17x10+20 526's.
Both in gloss black. I really doubt most ppl will be able to tell they're mismatched wheels.

I figure these are the optimal sizes to run either wide rubber all around (235/40's & 255/40's) or I can go hellaflush (215/40's & 235/40's). I just so happen to have some 20mm spacers laying around that I never thought I'd use again, but this seems like a good excuse to dig them out of storage & dust them off... :naughty:

I really wanted to 18x10.5 526's, but see as how I was can run the same tire widths with either setup, I figure I'll save myself the effort and save myself the extram money I'd spend buying 18" tires... :frown:
i like the mismatched look. props on that. i ordered the 526 17x10 and 17x9 but seeing as i already have some 20mm spacers on my fronts jus keep em there to give me a 15et on the 9's

:werd: no joke, i was considering the exact same setup, the 2 different styles with a 20mm spacer all around. i agree most people wouldnt notice at all and youd never know if they were in motion. i think the fitment after the 20mm would be damn perfect. still havent decided on a concrete plan yet though...if you do it, post up a photo for sure.

^^^Yeah, I figure while I'm still rocking an N/A KA, I'll throw the spacers on and rock stretched 215/40 and 235/40 tires for a while. And hopefully, if I ever get around to doing a VQ swap, I'll take the spacers off and mount up 235/40 & 255/40 tires. Last time I checked, 17x9 006's weighed 23lbs each. I don't expect 17x10 526's to weigh much more. This setup meets my needs perfectly.

It'll be a while before I execute this though. Still gotta get coilovers and arms first... :facepalm2

Yeah I want to see if they have been shipping them to vendors and if it is a delay on them or the vendor. I knew I was going to wait, but 8 weeks behind the original 6 week wait is a bit of BS

haveing stretched 215/40profile tires is how im driving around on 3 broken 5zigens right now waitn for my xxr.im stretching 45profiles this time.i dnt think the 40 offers enough protection for the rim and it also doesnt fill up a s14 fender well right .looks alil wierd

That's something to consider. Just from examples on Rimtuck, I prefer the look of the 215/40 versus the 215/45 on a 17x9. But not personally having experience with it, I'll take your word for it. Maybe I'll just go for meaty fitment right from the start.

Pretty much got my summer wheel setup figured out now, gonna wait till all the delay are over with and wheels are readily available though.

527's
F 17x8.25 +25 w/spacer, 255/40/17
R 17x9.75 +25, 295/35/17

I don't stretch tires, I squeeze them :chuckle:

^^^Hoosiers, I assume? Sounds like a decent drag setup.

BTW, I've heard that the 527's are surprisingly pretty light for XXR's. A vendor at the other forum mentioned that they're waaaay lighter than the 522's that came out last year, which NLMotoring lists as being 21lbs for the 17x9's. The 18x9.5 522's weigh 23lbs, according to an EVO forum...

If that's true, they might be a worthwhile alternative to RPF1's. But this is all rumor at this point.

im tired of waiting for these. im ordering 592 17x9 tomorrow. btw with the 45 profile im goin with a 205 not a 215. low profiles make a simple stretch look extreme. i jus have to order another set of spacers.i have 20mm perhaps a 15mm for the fronts since there all 35 offset

Yeah, the 527's "look" like they'd be lighter than the 526's, which is my main motivation for using them. That big baller lip on the 526 can't be light lol. And I'm actually planning on using Kumho XS's in the above mentioned sizes for a sort of streetable track day setup. My car is being built for the curves. :yesnod

Oh, it's a no-brainer that the 527's should be lighter than the 526's. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the 17x10 526's managed to come in under 26lbs, personally. But I was talking about the 522's.

I was really surprised to learn how light these are. I used to think they were the ugliest wheel I'd ever seen on a 240 before, but then I realized its just the small sizes that look fugly. The bigger sizes like the 17's & 18's look much more decent. And now hearing that the 527's are even lighter, wider AND 4 lug?! Thats an exciting new wheel right there...

The first time I saw 522's mounted on a car, they were some 15's or 16's. They were so fugly they made my wanna gouge flaming sticks into my eyeballs. But the 17's and 18's don't look nearly as bad, IMO. Plus Any issues that I have with their design or style takes a backseat to their attractive weight.

If the 17x9 or 18x9.5 522's came in 4 lug, I would have grabbed a set already...

i really dont think they expected word of mouth/forums to spread it this fast...theyre probably drowning in orders and cant supply fast enough to stock before the previous deadline.
sucks but what can you do.

yeah it sounds like utter bs to me...shouldnt have to wait that long. but they also took preorders etc.
theres a factory around here that ships demos (clothes) then if theres an order they will cut and sew the entire order, millions of pieces before it ships. somtimes they will receive a last minute order, of the same product and will add it in with current production and ship it all at once. because if they dont they cant complete it for some time...as theyve moved on to another fabric/pattern etc. and must complete the next before being able to come back to the last order.
sounds like a pita but hey whatev.
bottom line, i think they f*** up and its taking them way longer to produce then expected. i feel sorry for you guys who ordered months ago :tisk:

I was really thinkin about getting these. But it seems like they are going to be the new 962. It's hard to find good looking/fitting wheels for cheap that you can drift on and not care about destroying.
