The pipe adds a deeper tone to the exhaust. It's not near as loud as the Borla.

From what I've heard, the Nismo is raspier than the Stillen. I've never been a fan of the really loud and/or raspy exhausts so the Stillen was a good choice for me and the y-pipe made it perfect. It's nice and deep.

Perfect. the raspiness of the nismo was what was holding me back but you have just described my final set up then. Stillen + y-pipe FTMW

Only slightly off topic:

Does anyone have dyno figures for the intake + exhaust + y-pipe combo (underdrive pulley would be a plus) ?

I found a pretty cool/cheap dyno program for the Iphone/Ipod touch. It's called Dynolicious and it uses the integrated accelerometer in those devices. Price is ~$13 on the iTunes store, and the reviews there seem to indicate that it's as accurate as the ~$200 standalone boxes out there.

This program seems to be about the best tool for CVT owners to get WHP figures for their cars, and it has the added benefit that it allows for "real-world" testing conditions (wheels on pavement). Check it out....

I have a stillen catback, AEM intake with the y-pipe installed. It's been around 120 miles now. The drone at 2k - 3k is gone. (I guess the stock y-pipe theory was correct). the tone has dropped a bit, and the rpms seem to rev faster. I was hoping to gain a little bit of rasp, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I also ordered mine on the 18th, and I didn't receive any bolts or stickers. I'm not too concerned about the stickers, but was hoping the bolts would be in there. Oh well, nothing a quick trip to the store won't fix; free shipping + the slight discount = no complaints from me.

I am right Just by how the exhaust works/design and where the droning was coming from is what made me believe it was the stock y-pipe.

I can easily attest that drone is not gone in 2-3000rpms

i cant wait for this.

i also think i have officially started saving for a borla, that borla+ypipe sounds so boss, better than stock z/g.

Rich,

What kind of exhaust are you running? Is it a stillen catback? The drone was gone almost instantly for me.

What drone are you talking about? I've never had droning issues with the Borla. I can barely hear it unless I hit the gas. Although, most of my driving is on the freeway so all the extra noise may drown it out a bit. But even off the freeway I've never noticed a droning.

Drone with Y-pipe and k&N intake. It's gotten significantly louder since the install of both of those.

Heres a quick video with the Stillen exhaust. It's not the best video but I was stapped for time. If someone else with the Stillen exhaust wants to post one up aswell, fly at er!

I also noticed less drone. It's quite nice.

I see. I've had my intake on for a couple months and didn't notice any difference in droning but I have yet to put my Y-pipe on.

OK here goes my first Post on these forums, although I have been reading them for a long time.

I have the Borla exhaust and AEM intake, just put the y pipe on almost a week ago I didnt notice any droning before the y-pipe but definitely a lot with it on, although not noticeable at freeway speeds. Overall I'm very happy with the sound though.

Now just today I noticed that when I let off the gas around 5k rpm there is a definite backfire that i've never noticed before. Is this normal? I was wondering if this may be beacuse the motor runs rich at high RPM as stated by Technosquare. It actually makes it sound even more bada**, but is this anything be concerned about?

Loop,

Do you think the stillen resonator plays a factor at all(I like the fact that it's not loud) . If i took it out do you think I would gain a small rasp, and or loose the deeper tone The y-pipe has added?

I don't know that much about what can cause an engine light to come on. I haven't had that problem yet. I went out and pounded my car a bit tonight. Everything was working just fine(no lights or leaks). The y-pipe sounded really good above 4k

I removed the resonator on my Stillen catback a longtime ago. Sounds the same, maybe slightly louder (it's been so long I don't remember exacty what it used to sound like). Although it is raspy only when you rev it. Remember, this is without the y-pipe. I would take a video for you, but I don't think I'll be able to before I remove it for my Fast Intentions catback.

By the way, the Fast Intentions catback is going to sound like a beast with the y-pipe

Yes, it does and this is why I told Fast Intention to put a resonator in my exhaust system. Yes, taking it out would gain loudness and some rasp. You will lose some of its deepness/smoothness by removing the resonator.

just picked her up with the new y-pipe.

stock exhaust with injen intake. not THAT much of a difference in sound. but i have a feeling as it breaks in it should develope a much nicer tone.

i do notice an addition, deep growl from under my car now though, its hard to hear, but i can hear it, and i love it =) lol I also noticed a power gain cruising around, not super noticable, but she picked up with a lil more pep while i was chilling at 2500 in 4th (most noticeable change in that range to me so far).

if you are 6 m/t you will notice at 3rd gear 4500-6500rpms right through 5th gear. It pulls much harder in those ranges..

I'm really sorry for this but what exactly is the difference between a 3.5's Y-pipe and a 2.5's? Somebody should tell Racingline that they did not specify what Altima model their Y-Pipe is for lol

The 2.5 does not have a Y-pipe. It is an inline 4 cylinder.
