trpower7 wrote:No, it's not "funny" at all. Mustangs are great for drifting. Hell, I can drift the fool out of a Camaro. What makes "great for drifting"???? A stock S13 can't survive for ANY time doing that, so you're going to say Nissan designed it that way. Are people really this dumb??? Do you live in the real world of supply and demand, market forces, actual selling points, or in some weird world where companies design cars and build on a mass scale.....to sell to a niche market. Did you ever go to school?? Take a stock S13 or S14 and try to go drifting in it, see how well you do or how long the stock suspension lasts. But of course, Nissan, designed it for that..........I hate people...........

I live in the real world, hater. You know what is funny is that you said mustangs are great for drifting. They are great for readnecks. And anyone in a drifting camaro is surely a fool, I agree.

They did design the car to sell. thats why in japan you get kyb components, lsd, sr, hud with built in timer (perfect for running latenite time trials), rwd... sounds like a good stock drifter to me.

Actually, the mom JOKE was in light of the fact that you think that your sources of knowledge are far superior to mine.

I just call it as I see it. You should try and drift your mom's accord, good luck. LOL :icesangel

ignorance is bliss......

gtune, ever stop to think that maybe the reason 240's dominate drifting is because of thier price and availability?

Naaaaa, nissan designed them for drifting, whatever was I thinking??????:rolleyes

Wow, I didn't think people this ignorant really existed......oh well, I always need someone to shine my shoes, flip my burgers, wash my car.....

All the options you are talking about were offered AFTER the R&D period, initial design, and even first few years of production on the vehicle. Therefore, your original statement is still absolutely invalid. Not to mention that they are ALL OPTIONS, (not to mention high priced ones that don't sell all that well) and therefore not considered in the functional design of the vehicle. Not to mention that they weren't offered in the US, if they were part of the design of the car they would have been included in ALL markets. Why can't I drift a Mustang as well as you can an S13, they are damned similar, equal weight distribution, RWD, gobs of power, hell a Mustang would probably be easier if only for the torque issue. The statement "great for rednecks" is absolutely ignorant, foolish, and infantile. You go tell an SVT Cobra or Saleen owner they are a redneck, and then watch what their TOTALLY STOCK car can do. Why are you a "fool" if you drift a Camaro? Did someone say that you could "only drift a Japanese car"? Sounds pretty ignorant to me. Even WITH all those optional items, which are only options in Japan, no stock S13 will last within the warranty period if it is drifted on a regular basis.

Go on living in your little ignorant infantile world, as previously stated, we need people like you for some things...........

yes, this thread went from ok...to ignorant.

Just to clear things up, the sil80 was made to satisfy the drifting masses.

Since so many drifters were crashing and screwing up their popups, in the mountain passes, They decided to switch the stock lights in their 180sx for the cheaper projectors from the s13 (yes cheaper!! Ironic isn't it?). Nissan saw this trend and released a very limited amount (something like 500 or 5000) original sileightys which came equipped with I think a kaaz or nismo lsd and some other options. It was a very limited number for the fanatic few.

I think that clears it up, Nissan designed S chassis for drifting, most certainly not. Done, done, done.

it might have something to do with the very close weight distribution front & rear. OR maybe it has something to do with the independant rear suspension and flexible rear axle...

I'm sure there are other reasons that the 240 is dominant, but I'm sure that price and availability are at the top of the list.

Actually, anything that aids in rear traction (like the independent rear suspension and the very close wieght distibution) is not going to help it in drifting. I could see the wieght distribution a factor as it helps in the overall control of the car.

I never said that they were designed only for drifting. They were designed for people who love to drive.

....since you want to be the judge, i may be ignorant, but at least I don't try to drift mustangs.

You sure did say that the designers designed the car to drift. Right there. But it's cool, I need high-school dropout grade workers for whatever I do with my well-informed, logical, reasonable, civilized, cultured life..........and by the way, Mustangs, Camaros, Mercury Marauders, old-school BMWs, old-school Mercedes, all drift JUST AS WELL as any Japanese RWD car. The only differences are price and availability which makes our S chassis popular. All you need to drive is weight distribution, RWD, and some decent power. That's it.

ROFLMAO

Hope ur not the "I must get a copy of the new Option, so I can look at the picture" type of rice.

"Lameness".....wow. I mean, I know when I'm trying to do some solid logical convincing that's in my top 15ish words to use. And fairly sure on what basis? As previously stated, everything you have said, suggested, and otherwise seems to prove quite the contrary. In the world of REAL debate and REAL argument we like to do otherwise.
