I recently went to an Aftermarket performance store for some strut bars. The clerk asked me if the 240 ini the lot was mine, i said yeah it is and he says he has one too. So we start chatting away and he said that i got my 240 bc everyone else is getting. I almost took it as an insult at the time and i told him that i got my 240 last october and i didnt thik the s13 hb were popular that everone else is getting it now. Is this true? Are people gonna start trading their modern hondas/tegs for a beat up S13????? SAY IT AINT SOo!!

I got mine almost 2 years ago as my first car knowing absolutely nothing about cars.If it weren't for my dad pointing it out, I probly would've ended up being another Honda/DSM fanboy. :(

I'm kinda hoping they keep getting more popular, I'd sell my KAT powered S13 for the right price ;)

I bought mine cause a friend reccommended it and then I found these boards, which I loved. Then I drove one and fell in love

of course, I have an s14... not s13... but I was thinking about an s13 before I decided to spend a little extra $$!

ok when i got mine.. i didnt know anything about it, didnt even know who made it.. the ONLY reason i got it was because it was RWD, cuz ill castrate myself before im caught driving a FWD vehicle [except my moms van which doesnt really count ;)] now everyone is looking for one...

that's the price us hardcore nissan fans pay, when gay magazine like super street decide to popularize the silvias. i always hear little kids talking about getting a 240sx just like the one they see in the magazine. and not only that, they talk about drifting before they even get there hands on a silvia or could drive.......and now i'm paying the price like as if i'm a minion who follows the trend because i have a sileighty way before that whole drifting magazine craze.

I guess there's not much we can do but sit back and watch the silvia kingdom fall like the hondas did.

240SX has been growing in popularity in the past 2+ years. RWD sports car falls in price means that younger people in lower income brackets can afford. Duh.

The truly "OG" owners are the original first owners on the list of titles.

The drift import scene is only getting bigger and more popular. If you can't deal with that, or if that bothers you so much taht you must get on a soap box about it, maybe its time your reconsider how much you truly appreciate your 240SX.

I heard this little 16 year old fat girl at work saying "I dont know what I shoulg get a CRX so I can 'soup' it up like my boyfriends or a 240 cuz they are fast. Its too bad they are ugly." So i budded in to her convo, told her to get a CRX cuz they have way more potential and that 240s are slow and break down all the time.

Folks:

This is a <good> trend!

It means more aftermarket support and INCREASES THE VALUE OF YOUR CARS.

I have had my 240 since I was like 17. For awhile, I love it, the s13 is so sexy, but right now where I live the wrong ppl are getting ahold of them :(. Even then, I ride around, and everyone tries and race me. My car is not fast, very few mods, and a stock exhaust, but damn, I even had a riced out probe try and race me last night, all I did was laugh at him and go on my way.

They are popular here in Utah. One guy has an 89 for sale with decent paint and body, some ricey exhaust and gag-me spoiler on it and he wants like 4000 bucks.

welcome to the 240cult gaining members faster than any other rice plantation.....the 240 is the new civic....sad, but true.....damn ricer mags....I bought my 240, to get something different and RWD and i swear 1 week after I got it all of the "build a turbo silvia for 2k" articles started coming out, granted i had no clue what a silvia was at that point, it gave me some insight.....

my dreams of a bad-azz 240 have been lost....I'm sick of these damn ricer-children, sick of cars sounding like they run on 2-stroke fuel and have a pull start, and move about as fast as my weedwacker.... enough is enough.....

props to all of you who got yours off the ground before the trend...consider yourselves grandfathers of the trend and not part of it...keep them running and make sure you school these new kids sooo badly that they run home to mommy and daddy for more performance parts....ugh...can I vomit now?

the real sad part is they havent the slightest clue what customizing is about, they see a part on someone's car and get it...like euros...now I can vomit!

well, i finally copped my S13 a lil over a week ago. i've been looking to buy one since around this time last year. even before i knew wtf a drift was. it was the RWD that called to me. actually, i've loved these cars since like 93 (when i first got my license:D ). when i was in the service back in '98, i was looking @ a new one, but damn, @27G's on "G.I. Broke" budget wasn't gonna cut it. i've always wanted an inexpensive RWD car for kicks. hell, i even considered the MR2, but quickly dropped that idea as w/2 seats and NO cargo room, there was nothing practical about it as far as my needs were concerned. in the end, it was the 240 for me, and an S13 hatch because i liked the lines on it. the coupe didn't appeal to me too much, the zenki S14's didn't do much for me either, and the kouki S14's were just too much for my broke azz to deal with. maybe my next car will be an S14 kouki.:thinker and i guess, from previously owning a Stanza, i've become quite the Nissan fanboy...:pface

A year after I sarted getting into cars, I decided that I really wanted a nitrous-powered cavalier. I read and posted messages on j-body.org, and learned a lot about cars from that site. Then, during the summer, I had a revelation. I realized that I hadn't really researched other cars to make sure that I chose the right one for me. Needless to say, I did some searching, and found the right one. I don't think I jumped on the bandwagon by getting the S13 because jumping on the bandwagon was never one of my reasons for getting it.

The 240sx is a excellent car, nothing wrong with wanting one.

240's dont just appear all the sudden as everyone claims after they buy theirs, its just you notice them more. I started to notice them alot too after i bought mine, in fact, before i bought mine, i though i had never seen one before, but infact im almost positive i had just never noticed.

This car will NEVER become "the next civic", they are two very different cars and the number of 240's are incredible less then the still-in-production civic. Even if it were i dont understand why that is used as a insult, civics are great cars (and there are alot of fast ones too).

I dont mind the hundreds of compliments i get for my car (even though its unfinished and looks like ***) because of its increased popularity, and the fact that my car has gained about $1000 in blue book value since i bought it is nice too. :)

No offense to any of you, but i think whining about its popularity is very immature (WAAAAAhh, mommy i want a new toy now that other people have the same one as ME! They are all going to rice out their cars and make ME look bad! WAAHH WAHHH WAAAAAHH).

If you dont like the attention, now is your chance to sell your car for more than its really worth. Just try not to let the door hit your arse on the way out.

all i know i was destined for my s13 after looking for it for 2 years. then my dad said finally " if you dont find a car by tommorow, your getting a civic damn it" I was unsuccessful and did not find a car at the end of the day, knowing id get the civic my neighbor was selling. The next morning i wake up for school, feeling rather frustrated seeing i had 2 yrs to aquire a s13, i see a black 240sx HB in my driveway, i couldnt belive it. It was like christmas all over again! It had everything the 240sx could offer; hicas, lsd, abs, a/c (whole handling package) and it was a 5 speed too! and the car had alreadydual tip hks sport exhaust so it sounded cool and purred like a kitten unlike the annoying sound of other mufflers i always hear from my neighbors civic. my dad saw it the night before in a spanish news paper." how akward and what luck" i thought. he took it off the used dealer lot for about $800. Of course it needed a paint job and new springs/shocks, seats, tires, dash, steering wheel, wheels, rack pinion arms....etc... and a radio but i took the time to restore my s13 and now its the envy of many people whom first talked trash about it when i first got it.
