Lol bersh.. A bolt made of steel is ALREADY frozen lol seeing as its a solid. Using freeze off wont change the material properties, but it will help make it easier to remove. Ive used some. Im pretty dang sure I dont have a broken stud which is why I'm installing new ones as a precaution because this is the 2nd time in this engines life the turbo is coming off. Re torqing could be bad this time around lol.

Heh. Maybe after graduation next year lol. This OEM setup works too perfectly right now to warrant any major changes. Might as well get my moneys worth out of the stock tune and setup .Nice avatar pic though rodiek/(db:P), shaun white is Killin' the sport man.

I like that idea Josh, never heard of it. I usually let penetrating oil soak in anything that's too tough for me, but lawl not a lot of stuff is too hard for my man-ness! hahahahaha

Junkyard left me with slight sunburn? IN MARCH?

It was fun Joelseph. Hi Matt, sorry about nicknames LOL.Gasket is in at nissan, picking up tomorrow. Mcmaster-carr stuff came in on monday! Superfast! Doing t25 gasket work tomorrow.

Textually I got a window switch, new TCU circuit board, Front LCA, some map lights and yes, the freshest explorer side skirts lol.

You guys don't even know how good it felt to say goodbye to this fugly gritty spraypainted window switch with my new part! Sooo much ugly is gone! Pic is 1000 words.

I guess I'll get more pics tomorrow. OH and lol.... I purchased the 1 LCA so I can install bushings into (but mainly so I can weld and box it in at the shop). I'll make a mirror of the metal to weld for the other side and do it in a day at skewl sometime.

LOL, dude the junkyard was so awesome, except for the Mexican throwing rocks at people, I got pretty nervous there. I got a funny pic of you using the bumper support to break that bolts loose on the LCA, +1 for oem parts, another great use for them.

We rummaged through so many explorers and got the most mint side skirts.

I should add this was only necessary because I, being a nub, forgot my large torque wrench at home, so with no 1/2" drive, we used this on my dinky 3/8" drive ratchet and luckily got the LCA off without breaking said dinky tool! Too bad you can't see the ratchet handle in the bumper support in the pic. worked wondersss! This isn't the first time I've had to improvise while pulling junk parts. Its always fun in the end!

The website for the largest salvage yard I have ever been to is:http://www.joesusedautoparts.com/EZPull.htmlI'm sure you guys know the thrill of the hunt for good old salvage parts. It's like antiquing for gear heads! You just have to get over the "aww I'm sad that car's here" thought process.

Alright today's update. Chris Bersh came over after I was done picking up the t25 gasket at Rankaster Nissan! Parts guy asked me if it was for a pulsar turbo because he hadn't seen one of those in years but I was like nope, sr20 240sx. I'm totally taking it in for the dealer ppl to see someday lol. My car feels at home there... oh man too much sentimentalism! Back to build!

So we didn't take any pics of the teardown, but I ended up slyly pulling this gasket change off without removing the downpipe or elbow. This pic shows the copper gasket and how it failed. DUH Tom, copper has a freakin low melting point... it melted because the gasses spin past it down the exhaust compressor and melted the gasket. The Mr.gasket copper manifold gasket is still working fine though because the gasses don't directly fly by it all compressed.

Because the old paint gained entropy since last overhaul, I put young bersh to work wire wheeling the old paint/rust off lol. Yes he held the light too, very good 240sx assistant. JK Bersh thanks for the help and company man!

Cleaned the gasket surface of the turbo, as you can see 2 studs came out with the rusted on nuts. I fixed them but Joel had given me an extra stud of his so I used it on the far right stud later on.

New gasket, pic for easy part # referral guys.

New shiny paint. 1200* ceramic. I was explaining to bersh that the ceramic paint actually acts as a heat shield somewhat because ceramic is an insulator, keeping the hotness inside. It's just a bonus though it looks great!

The stoop kid got some pics of me installing the studs I ordered. I had 0 broken studs It was easy peasy. The old twisting nuts together technique... Oh man please don't quote me on that lol. There's no other way to say it!

Installed again. Note the valve cover care taken

Bersh went home to eat, I kept on working!

All those speed bumps and Ice were making my exhaust hit the frame. Partially because my custom solid trans exhaust mount was bent, partially because I had some hammering to do! No more jalopy sounding exhaust rattle!

Later that night I was dying to put some poly bushings on so I greased em up and did the body side of the roll bar bushings, so now my sway/roll bar bushings are all polyurethane!Front:

Rear: Pbm colors yo

Threw the strut bar on while she's in the air , better frame tightness when you install in the air.

I'll pour some new mobil 1 5w40 truck and deisel oil in with a pureOne filter tomorrow and take the shuttle out for some well deserved seat time! Might be checking out a z31 with my girl because she loooves the z31 all of the sudden lol.

Dang dude, you two got that crap done smoothly. I assume you got away without having to remove the coolant and oil lines? Looks good, glad that stud came in handy, how did the stock washer fit with the bolt, you know i need it. LOL...good job guys.

Oh yeah anyway the washer wasn't necessary. My stud went in farther than yours lawl.. We were being cautious with your threads though.

Yeah we didn't have to remove any turbo lines or downpipe, but we disconnected the test pipe to bang the frame/ re hang exhaust. Dyyying to drive tomorrow. I definitely noticed turbo lag today w/ the gasket blown out.

I've decided to leave the mobil1 10w30 behind because it's 100*C viscosity is too low for track season. So I will be using 5w40 for track season from now on. I have researched it extremely, wayy past meat and potatoes so we're set! Either (5w40 for all) rotella t6 or castrol syn or mobil1 truck&diesel for track use from now on. Matches the viscosity of my Royal purp upper viscosity limit.

Well as some of you probably saw in the shift knob thread last weekend I painted the e-brake knob body colored, and also shot up the shift boot with black duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray. It made the boot a little more rough to the touch, but it looks so much better. Drift knob paint is holding up very well

I picked these up from a helpful friend that I know from the hbg meets. He's letting me use his LCA's off a parts car while I box em up and bushing install. Today I just prepped them so I can work with them, cleaned and removed ball joint snap rings. I'm purchasing new oem ball joints > probably will have to referr to what Jeff (Whitecomet) used for replacements.

So I vowed to myself that I wouldn't put the lip back on unless I re-fitted the front bumper to the intercooler better. You may have noticed the middle of the bumper sagging last year, well I say no more! I had the bumper off, cut places that were touching the IC too much, kept re fitting. Oh and when I built my car I guess I forgot to remove the pignose turn signal bumper brackets. These things probably weigh 5lbs!I also removed what looked to be OEM metal license plate mounting brackets with nut.Top gear top tip: cut angled away from the painted side so extra yellow urethane doesn't show when you're done fitting the IC.

Next I took to the issue that surfaced when my driver fender was dented this fall. The bumper had been fixed with some red fail epoxy. It popped off and looked like poo, so the bumper needed re-joined at the fender joint.I thoroughly cleaned the slight grime off the area (probably why the epoxy failed to glue properly last time) and wire wheeled + sanded before applying liquid nails, then I fitted the fender bracket on, and applied more liquid nails.

I added a bit more later on, but you can see I tried to even out the force applied to the edge of the bumper by gluing the bracket to the bumper's side. (once the glue is dry that is. Liquid nails is generally urethane based, so it'll bond nicely with our urethane bumpers and still have room for flexing. If not, I'll just keep trying new bonding materials!Tried to keep it clean here:

I also followed adrians13's writeup on this quick ballin' safety mod: flashing side marker turn signals. But I traced the wire from the signal housing to body plug side, that way I can remove my light housings without having to cut a wire. Proper splice and solder folks. Everyone knows how to splice without cutting the wire completely riiiight?Taped it up like a boss and it looks great. I love it.

I'll try to have a video as well as pics of fixed bumper fitment tomorrow after the liquid nails dries.

Guess this means I can put the lip on also

Hey Tom, just do what I did.... buy em completely fresh and brand new as one whole piece. Saves the trouble of installing new bushings.

Lol dale that may be all fine and dandy but your bushings are still rubber :P.

FLCA's are prob the easiest bushings to replace control arm wise.

Plus, I want to color match these with the rear subframe heheheh

My car has never looked better. PSU MET sponsored car show tomorrow. Hope to see some nissan folks!I washed it with the bumper off today. In the engine bay and out. Looks like a DRIFT CAH!

I did the turn signal mod to the rear lights today so they ALL work in synch. Awesome! This picture was taken with the wrong wire used. Just follow the wire to the bottom bulb guys, the red one's the wrong onee lol. Or just find out the hard way like me.Some chromeo in the background.

Hopefully I get some nice pics of the car tomorrow. Started to fit up the explorer sides. I fixed the warp where it comes away from the body a little.Lip is on, perfect and no more sag

Sometimes it's the little things:

1156 BA15S 13 wide LED bulbs.

Neither Superbrightled's or V-led's sell these socket sizes anymore with this configuration, so I went through ebay and got what looks like a similar 5k light output white

I measured the bulb socket (license plate sockets) to ensure fitment before purchase, and sure enough these installed in 2 minutes or less!

I ordered a steering wheel and hub. Probably won't get them until after easter weekend because I won't be at the apartment from friday-sunday.I'm excite! I'll take pics of the car tomorrow with new bumper fitment, going for a drive with some friends anyone local is welcome to attend.

Run S14 front LCAs, they're slightly longer than s13 front LCAs. Front ball joints are available for replacement from MOOG, nothing special needed.

So on the way to the sweet flea market on friday my car overheated in the stand still traffic. The electric fan wasnt working.. But the relay fuse was good. I decided to hotwire the e-fan until i got home to check it out. When I got home the relay was dead.. And my thermo switch is ALSO dead. I put a new relay inside the fuse box this time so it won't get wet and die like the last one.

Im in pittsburgh for the rest of easter weekend. Got a vid of my car in the tunnels on the way. No internet at grandmas so lemme see if I can get these links up in a few hours.

Because the thermo swith is dead i wired up an interior switch to the relay input ground wire. So i can turn it on whenever I want until i get a new thermo sensor.Drivin thru the tunnel turbo sounds vid:http://qik.com/video/1C2725CF3...566C I didnt have time to make it look perfect in the engine bay, it jist has to work for now.
