Jeff, just remember, Tom normally sees 5 mph over with the xxr's on, with the swasticas he is seeing 1 mph over.....I'd say its pretty signifigant, smaller wheels equal faster spinning rpms, so with taller tire, less rpms.

for the record, its a RATIO, not a quantity difference in MPH/RPM stuff. hes not ALWAYS 5mph over... not possible. its dynamic, dependent on speed.

and tom, its not reduced unsprung weight, its TALLASS tires, they are squishy.

and besides, its a boosted 240, who's keeping track of MPG

Forget this post, I'm wrong, Tom can elaborate, I thought he was seeing lower rpms, but he only saw speedo change. So I fail.

Why do you guys have to bicker about stupid nico poopy doodoo in my thread. But in all honesty I don't care so don't worry about it. We can calculate the engine rpm difference on another night.

My 5mph difference that joel brought up is due to the cluster being off/old and it only applies at 70mph. In all actuality it's actually reading 7mph higher than my real speed. Now with these tires it reads 6mph higher at said speed.

imo its not bickering, just discussing and clarifying, and who knows, it might be helpful info to someone reading it

Alright I see Jeff. You're right to edumacate pplz who never thought about tire size affecting final drive gearing .

Maybe I missed a thread about northeast snow pics? I assumed there was going to be one. My dad took this pic for me, car has the lines of a delorean lawl.

I drove the van yesterday and did some hillside +build a ramp snowboarding. 20" of fresh snow is fun to land in! Going to roundtop today for some real boarding, screw the superbowl! I don't really care for either team this year heh.

Snowboarding recap: I'm way more comfortable with the terrain park even though I haven't been hitting rails for a year. My board needs an edge job (and I'd like a larger board than 151cm for myself being 6ft) so maybe next season haha.. My friend was better at the larger jumps and I was grinding rails really well but he wanted to boardslide on this rail that was more than waist high at the end of it, landed on his back and yeah, that was it for the night for him. It was fun chillin at the lodge drinkin troegs (Hbg microbrew) and watching the halftime show haha.

Alllright yo. It's bout time for some pics of the snow.. Yeah sorry no real action pics until next Driftpa event because the excess of snow has pushed back the date of yet another drift session.. Maybe march which is nice because of warm weather .

Thought this was a funny scrabble hand I ended up having: Board games are great for blizzard conditions:

This is after shoveling (friday morning) so the snow near the car is higher but still. The get excite sticker I love so much peeled corners a bit because of the heavy snow (even though I never use an ice scraper), so I'll need a re-vinyl of the "get" part come spring lol, but I salvaged it so it looks fine until then.

Joel came over and luckily my neighbors up in hbg let me/him use the driveway. The plows only did 1 lane in the development I live in up here >< heh. I'm diggin' the winter time Z tire theme.

View from the driveway down the hill. Some people were busting in the lanc thread about "Oh no another 6 inches" haha.. well we probably got 15" or more on top of what was left from an earlier storm... As you can see there's nowhere to put this stuff!

Side note: The oil bash sign is good at smoothing out snow ruts/grinding on them haha.Planning on a poly bushing set and a vise (screw buying a press) for even more suspension love soon.

Fun slash math update omg watch out guys.

Good news is I finally ordered an Energy Suspension polyurethane bushing kit, part number 7.18106R, yes the red urethane . THMotorsports.com (NICO sponsor) had the best price brand new with free shipping check them out! That'll be going in faster than expected because I can use the presses and vise clamps in the MET-lab job shop woot.I'm too excite to finally get even more grip out of this car!

Earlier this week I got something to further personalize my rad awesome ride with: -5k Led license lights in the mail, so no night pics yet.

I came out of class early after murdering some quiz to see my fellow like minded individual-fellow major classmate parked beside me. I dig, so I took some cool pics that included the rad plate cover. He tells me he's getting wheels soon that probably will resemble mine. I still like the oe wheels he has now though. Word.

I tried to photoshop a blur around this one but I'm not the best at it yet. Definitely a cooler angle though.

The ASME club at PSU harrisburg is putting together a car show so I thought I'd put in a plug for it here . I'll be in attendance.

Ok I've been playing with tire size formulas and calculators just for fun. Both my 16" wheel tire size and my datsun wheel tires are more than 3% off which isn't reccomended but whatever hahahaa..http://www.1010tires.com/TireS...ubmit

I modified the formula below (the Speed vehicle one in yellow) to get speed in miles/hour instead of inches / minute as their calculations come out to be.

As you can see, I used .759 as SR20det transmission's 5th gear and 4.08363 as the final drive ratio seeing as these are the transmission and differentials I am using respectively.

I figured out the actual speed of the car at 3000 rpm with the datsun tires versus the XXR stretched tires. I am being liberal with the XXR tires though because they are stretched. The website tells me 11.83" radius but I measured around an 11.5 radius. I used 11.7" radius for the calculation of this tire just to be around a middle ground zone, so this includes error.

This is a screenshot of the 1010tires.com chart I used. OEM tire size is on the left.

Excuse my writing style/sloppiness, this was just calculation for fun, not my homework :P. The first solved speed at 3,000 RPM is for the datsun (205/65/15) wheels and the second speed value is for the XXR (195/50/16) wheels. So because I had a measured value of 11.5" radius on the xxr's, I could just calculate my measured diameter and speed but eh. I've seen enough it's not an intolerable difference with these wheels/tires, but as you can see it does effect things.

I also added 1/2 quart of penzoil synchromesh to my gearbox and it drastically improved the cold, and overall, ease of shifting gears. It has excellent yellow metal protection for our synchronizers. Thanks for the top tip Keegan

So yeah, that is my update. Look forward to more now maybe that I have this bushing kit coming.. heh

LOL, Dude, you are too funny, and hard core about this math stuff, but so am I. Makes alot more sense, s*** we all shoulda learned in trig alone. But hopefully I'll be up and running for the PSU show. I love the plate too LOL.

Haha, in due time my friend. Its starting to warm up outside so i finally got to play with the Sil. Josh and I just changed out my steering rack cause it was having a constant period. All I need now is my Stance coils and a diff for my complete suspension overhaul.

I gotta start getting this car some style and ready for meets this summer.

Weeeeeeee! I noticed I could smell my exhaust more than usual over the past month and it sounded a bit louder under the hood, the hood prop mod helps me hear and smell if things are going wrong LOL.

I stuck my hand around the exhaust turbo manifolds and sure enough; the t25 inlet flange gasket blew out in the same spot it did when I received my engine years ago! I was going to order it here:http://www.nissanparts.cc/cart/?pn=14415-17M00

part number is included in that, but I called the RANKSATER Nissan dealership :P and they can get the OEM part in on Tuesday for less than nissanparts.cc. 21 dollars and change.

For piece of mind I ordered 7 new 35mm stainless studs from Mcmaster.com, and zinc coated steel locking nuts, pack of 50 all shipped to me for 20 dollas!Studs:http://www.mcmaster.com/#93805a358/=636 ... =636z1jBtw thanks to an old post from Codyace for these part numbers/ suggestions because imo these studs/nuts are better than oem heh.

So when I change the inlet gasket I can also change the studs, and have 3 studs left over to fix the outlet studs when/if they break off due to being low. I think my exhaust hitting ice chunks during the last snowfall caused my gasket to go, or just age. It was a tougefactory all copper t25 flange gasket. Maybe the copper couldn't hold the heat being thrown at it, because the copper on the head to manifold holds up great (no hot air directly shot out at it. I have yet to find out if I broke a stud but we will see!Hopefully everything arrives on Tuesday and I can fix the shuttle during this spring break week which starts NOW.

I'm praying you dont have a broke stud, I have 2 in my stock t25 i pulled off, and I dunno what I'm gunna do to get them out, bolt outs wont grab and I cant get them to back out at all. Make sure you soak all that s*** in PB blaster first dude, really helps, also if you have a can of compressed air, hold it upside down and freeze the bolt/stud, it will allow the bolt to come off easier.

good plan joel.freeze the bolt so its brittle and breaks into a million and 4 pieces.

Ah you know little little man, Ask Keegan, He and I did it and were able to break free 2 of the 4 bolts on the turbo housing that way. It makes the metal contract, and it slightly drops the tolerances. It would take alot colder then -30 - -50 degrees to make a bolt so brittle it breaks. It needs to be work hardened to be easily brittle. I've taken quite a few materials and processes classes to know what I'm talking about here Chris.

well i guess it depends if you use the entire can of compressed air...i just know that my daddy taught me that its the easiest way to break padlocks

and whenever i need a bolt to be gone for good i freeze it and hit it with a hammer.

Ok, yeah, you dont use an entire can there buddy, Just enough to get it cooled down to below room temp and then apply normal pressure by hand, not a BFH.
