Lately, it seems that the police can read our minds. We realized after last night that we need to set up legitimate drifting events instead of doing what we have been doing.
We actually started to do this way back when I began this thread, so here's the information that I got back then.

1. Renting the Giants Stadium lot is about $1000 per day. Yeah, this sounds like a lot, but if 25 people pay $40 each, that covers the cost. If we get more people to come out, it will be even cheaper. Also, renting the Giants Stadium lot is probably a lot more expensive than many other parking lots because the schedule at the stadium is very tight.
2. In NJ, you need to file for a club racing license with the state police.
3. Most car clubs use K&K Insurance to insure the events. The premium depends on how many members the club has and the size/type of event. The autocross club pays about $1600 per year for insurance. I think the insurance premium would be less for us since we will probably have a smaller event compared to an autocross.
So we need to apply for a Club Racing license. I think that's what I'm going to concentrate on for now since it seems like it might take a long time to get. It's a good idea to apply for it early.
Also, I (or if anyone else thinks that they can do a good job) will write a standard letter that we can send out to businesses/lot owners to explain what we want to do, how much we're willing to pay, and what safety precautions we'll be taking.
I'm going to try to find out for sure if we need insurance or not. If we don't need insurance, we can all sign a waiver saying that we won't sue if we get hurt/damage our cars. Also, we can sign an agreement with the lot owner saying that we will pay for any damages. We could sort of make our own insurance by charging everyone like $5 extra each event and then keeping that money for any payments that we might have to make in the future.
Let me know what you guys think, and start getting contact info for lots that may be good candidates for renting.
In the meantime, there's autocross and Club Loose to go to until we can set up our own events.
The pictures from my last post aren't working because the server where I host my website and pics is down; hopefully, it'll be back up soon.
