hey guys ;Di'm a noob and i dont know if anyone has already brought this up but i was just wondering if you guys know anything about the edgewater area (by barnes and nobles and starbucks) I know they have meets there, i just don't know if it'd be a good place to drive or drift. as an aside, you guys know that little windy path with the crazy turn a little bit before there? now THAT'd be a nice place if only they fixed the roads..anyway, i live in pal park when i'm not in school and if you guys know any area around there or are from around there..let me know! i want to meet other people from around the neighborhood i know this is a bit unrelated but i have a black 2.5s and at the moment it's all stock..i want to hook it up as close to stock as possible..i don't want it riced out and i'm thinking first things first rims and maybe a front lip and maybe an intake but how do you guys afford it? are there any cheaper options for students who have very minimal income? lol help! i need some advice about financing and also, does anyone know of anywhere around there that'll give me a wax job and maybe some paint detailing (from rock chips) for a good price? thanks!

The edgewater/starbucks area can be ok just to hangout and talk. Definately not drifting. The cops usually show up every 20 mins just to check out and make sure nobody is doing anything stupid. As for parts, the only advice I can give you would be to save up for what you want, have some friends help you install it (save on labor charge). Slowly but surely your project will come together. I wouldn't recomment really financing anything because then all you're doing is putting yourself more in debt and that's the last thing you want as a student. I would shop around and ask some people about the detailing. See what they recommend. Hope I was of some help. BTW Welcome!

Hey. I'm actually in Leonia, pretty close to you. What school do you go to?

I've been to the Edgewater meets, and as EDT said, decent place to hang out but we would get arrested in about 30 seconds if we drift.

As for money, tutoring is the best deal you can find as a student, you can get over $20/hr cash doing private tutoring for someone. Save as much as you can, don't waste money on eating out or going out to clubs/bars too much.

Welcome ladyeclipse! One of the joys of doing your own work (If you enjoy it, that is). You can save yourself thousands in the long run. Or as mentioned before get a friend to do it, most of the time they don't ask for a lot or anything. Even the kids I went to school with (Lincoln Tech, not high school) ask me to work on their cars, I'm more or less their modding whore

I might get my tension rods today, they left Tinton Falls early this morning. If they arrive before I get off work, Ima have someone run em over to me so I can get em in and test em out If my camera isn't retarded I'll take pics. Hey miro, did you know the Nismo Power Brace comes with tension rods? I noticed it a few weeks ago looking at the picture closely.

Did you get the new control arms already? You broke too many things. I'm having trouble keeping up with it.

Are you sure about the power brace? That would be pretty sweet. But the Nismo tension rods I've seen weren't adjustable, looked pretty much like stock.

Every time it breaks it only comes back better. Yea I've had the control arms in for like a week or so. I got the t.r's in, couldn't do it at work so it was a driveway job. Wouldn't have taken that long, but when I was under there I cleaned one brace, then another and another lol I got carried away.

Anyway, they feel amazing, very smooth and responsive. This one turn I use to have to take slow, because of how uneven and broken the street. Now it's so smooth, I'd swear it was a different street. That's when I knew there really was a difference. I thought the pillow ball's were gonna be rough, but their fine. Even through a construction area by my shop, that I gotta drive through every day. I still have a slight pull to the right, but as I said before I need an alignment.

I saw those Nismo ones, but as you said their non-adjustable and all it is, is a poly bushing in there. I searched around a bit before I settled on the Teins. I also found em for $198, which is a good price compared to other sites. I'm pretty sure the Nismo one's are more or close to it. I just saw a nice angle on the power brace, it doesn't come with t.r's. The mounting points are boxed in. All that is, is the regular 240s t.r's mounting brackets with a bar welded across and some of the brace boxed up. I was actually thinking about boxing my control arms once I learn how to weld good.

Nice, definitely would not expect it to be smoother with pillow-ball mounts.

Results for Sunday's event finally came out. Order of the 240s:

Archie (53.991)Me (54.687)Angelo (55.007)Eulises (58.666)

Gotta give Eulises some slack since he hasn't done this as much.

Here are the full results:

https://axwaresystems.com/axor...8.htm

If it just wasn't for all those Miatas... lol. Can't believe it's in the same class as a 240 in this club. At least SCCA realizes that Miatas are faster than 240s stock.

Maybe I should have stayed for my last 4 runs..LOL..damn suspension. I hate my stupid lowering springs. Too much body roll in the corners and everytime I hit the gas the thing just wanted to roast the tires. KA-T FTMFW!! hahahahha

Well, smoother than what I had lol. My smooth could be someone's a little rough idk. I like a firm ride. I was planning on going to raceway park tomorrow night, seeing if anyone else wanted to go.

What event and where? I don't plan on competing, but I'd still like to check it out.

There's another autocross event on Sunday at Giants Stadium.

How does it work for drag racing? Do you have to pay to park or watch? I might be willing to go hang out and watch, but I don't think I would run (falling sort of behind on my budget, don't have the money to spend). What happens if it rains?

Yeah. Weather says it's going to snow in the morning. I guess they'll post on the website if the event is going to get canceled.

The car is ready. I changed the water pump on Monday.

$30 to race, $12 for the spectator/pit pass. I gotta go get oil right now(changing oil before I go). I may or may not go, I gotta see how my time works out, I think I gotta get there by 6:30, for tech inspection. If I don't make it today, prolly tomorrow (weather permitting). I heard it's suppose to snow tonight, who knows with this crazy March weather.

Hey Steve. Sorry, I couldn't make it out to Englishtown. I was putting my battery in the trunk today, and it took way longer than expected. I just got home right now.

This is short notice, but if anyone is free right now and wants to go for a ride, give me a call. Dat and I are going out for a little bit. I want to make sure everything is good with the battery before autocross, and Dat needs to change his wheels (which I have the key for).

LoL you have his key? That sucks, is the autocross still on today since it's wet out?

I didn't end up going yesterday and I doubt their open today with the rain. My oil change took somewhere around.....1 1/2 - 2 hours.

I didn't realize I didn't have an oil filter wrench at my house and for some reason it felt like it was welded on. I destroyed the damn thing trying to get it off, tried putting a screw driver through it, just tore the damn thing open. It sucks not having any tools at your house. My last resort was WD-40, I shot as close to the seal as possible (Btw at this point I moved the P/S reservoir and fuel filter/lines over ). After a little bit more of struggling, it finally started to work it's way lose. It was just about dark when I got done........I haveta take a picture of the filter, I've never destroyed a filter before lol it's funny.

From now on I do my oil changes at the shop

Haha. That sucks about the oil filter.

They decided to have the autocross event even though it was raining. I got a bunch of runs since there weren't too many people that came out.

Some pictures I took:

The rest of the pictures: http://flickr.com/photos/24746...5012/

Also, some video of Dat from Saturday night: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6er4cplzsdk

We found a nice lot, but there are a lot of businesses around so it wouldn't be smart to stay there for too long. But it's good for a few minutes of fun.

There will be plenty of opportunities; the season is just getting started. Are you going to E-town or Meadowlands next weekend (or both )?

The course was decent. There was one really fast left sweeper that was nuts (especially since it was in the rain and my tires are from a garbage pile... lol). But it was nice; you could go through that turn almost at full throttle.

Purdy, idk what I wanna do next. I was thinking B&M short shifter, I've wanted that for awhile. Do they sell aftermarket oil pans with an oil line for a turbo already welded in?

A short shifter is a good idea. The stock shifter on a 240 feels pretty mushy compared to some other cars.

I don't know about the oil pan, but if there is one, you can probably find it on ka-t.org.

Saturday's autocross event at Englishtown is canceled (due to weather forecast), but Sunday's event at Giants Stadium is still on.
