the time has come for me to start my build thread. well, as the title says, its more of me throwing random new parts at it that actually building it :chuckle:
but any ways, a little about myself and the car:
dont remember how, but i got into the whole drifting and s chassis thing when i was maybe a freshman or sophomore in highschool. i fell in love with the s13 and told myself i needed to have one.
i joined the forums and just lurked, read, researched, and waited.
picked this bad boy up in 09 in northern michigan. i guess it was originally an arizona car
Image
Image
Image
and the awesome job on the swap
Image
no rust or anything, so thats what sold me.
put in a Spec stage 2+ in late 09.
new vs old
Image
Image
it sat most of 2010 cause i was at school and had no job.
drove it around in the summer to apply for jobs and noticed the starter was sticking. would spin, but not pop
one day it just kept spinning and BANG
Image
so, the car sat even longer. maybe another 6 months till i found a job. decided to rip out the emissions stuff to while i was doing the starter
Image
what it looked like most of the summer, fall, and winter. exciting, i know.

got me a job in early 2011.
which was good cause my alternator went out the next month.
so the plan was to work, and do suspension first.
yeah, that didnt work exactly. this is where i just start throwing random crap at it.
found a set of starion wheels that i needed to have, so i bought them
Image
that was dumb cause i was still 4 lug. so, time to buy 5 lug conversion. but only in the rear
Image
:rotfl
picked up a piggy lip too.
now, im a sucker for a deal. so FRSport always happens to have one when im looking to blow some cash.
so i picked up some suspension techniques front and rear sway bars. no pictures of those.
then i finally picked up a real exhaust. my old one was a bunch of pipes welded together by what looked like helen keller.
sounded like a** too

picked up a HKS hi power and a ISIS test pipe on the cheap. almost brand new too.
Image
then i just got careless.
bought another KA with 150k on it and a freshly rebuild head for cheap for no reason what so ever.
then i bought even more wheels
Image
then a Nardi
Image
decided to stop spending money.
saved for a few months and FRsport suckered me into another deal
Image
since i was spending more money, ive always wanted a quick release
Image
had to drive it through the winter, which sucked!
Image
didnt do much to it over winter.kind of saved, kind of started collecting parts.
hit a curb one night in the snow, so i decided to sack up and buy coilovers. good thing i did cause i got the last set im pretty sure
Image
bought a set of Cibie lights, which are AMAZING
bought a new power steering rack and a DIF solid steering bushing and a few other things
then i bought even more wheels
Image
so it was time to go 5 lug in front.
Image
thats how it sat a few weeks ago.
since the weather was unseasonably warm, i decided to tackle the power steering rack and coilovers the other weekend.
went pretty well. i relocated the PS reservoir to the drivers side strut tower too.
Image
picked up some Tien s14 inner tie rods and Touge Factory outters
Image
im excited to get these on!
and how it sits as of now
Image
not the prettiest, but i love it to death. it may be a little too low right now tho
Image
i picked up an ISIS blast pipe exhaust for cheap the other day for s*** and giggles.
im far from done with it. next plans are to get the tie rods on, get the starion wheels on front as well.
after that im going to finish up the suspension with Parts Shop Max stuff. ive already got RUCAs and subframe spacers on the way. then get a new diff. ive been looking at a Nismo 2 way if anyone has any insight on those.
but yeah, thats about it as of now. im hoping to do some events in the next few weeks. but ill keep this updated with more pictures or if i have questions like i usually do.

i heard he finances his build with the money from older gentlemen that he is "friends" with.
i think the whole thing is kinda shady.

i hope to get the starions on the front this weekend. i need to swap the tires from the s14s tho. then pics
in the mean time, heres a picture of the bay as of today
Image
still kind of messy, but much better than when i got it.
also you can kind of see the new clutch master and the Chase Bays SS line i put in a few weeks ago.
also, the whole thing with this 'build' is to use only quality and trusted parts. thats why its going slow.

but thanks!

not really much of an update, but i got my s14 Tein inner tie rods and Touge Factory ends put on today as well as an alignment.
both inner and outers are way beefier than stock. and i now have more steering angle cause of the spacers.
as for the alignment, my caster is just a half a degree higher than it should be, which isnt that big of a deal. toe is 0 which is nice cause it was waaaaaay out of spec after i put the new rack in.
front camber is -1.5 and rear is -5.9 :rotfl
should be another week or 2 till i order RUCAs so i can fix that.
also, im in the process of buying another set of 16x8 -10 starion wheels, so hopefully i can score those and throw them on the front
other than that, thats about it for now

today i decided to put on the ISIS blast pipes that i recently picked up.
they sound good, but holy hell are they loud! theyll definitely sound better with a turbo.

i also got my MAX subframe risers in the other day. hopefully i can do those this weekend.

I have that exhaust too, but mine will be with a turbo before I ever hear it, so that should help keep the noise down some. You need to post a sound clip where you actually rev the car up though, no one cares what it sounds like at idle.

digging the Starion wheels too btw

and thanks! i should have them on front with in the next week or 2. i need to swap out the tires and get some spacers tho

Those blast pipes are almost too loud

I had them on my SR last year. You could always weld in a resonator for a little bit less raspy tone.. :bigthumb:

haha theyre definitely too loud, at least for daily driving. i got on it on the way home from work tonight and my ears were ringing when i got home.
im not too concerned with the sound or loudness tho, cause im only keeping it on till my RUCAs come at the end of the month, so that way i can raise it up and put my HKS back on.
but i may weld in a resonator, cause i want to weld some tips on the end to make it look like the Super Made or Dart Izumi style exhaust.

So you just tore the boot? That's not the end of the world, you could probably drive a couple thousand more miles on it before it dries up and wears itself to death.

Probably, to install it on the hub side first.
It might be difficult to pull the axle back and push into the hub if it's attached on the diff side first.

FINALLY got the the starions on the front. i need some spacers tho because they dont clear the brakes.
Image
no rubbing, which is nice except for the fender lip cause i still need to roll it.
in other news, i drove the car about 450 miles round trip yesterday. everything went fine, except there was an incredibly loud bang when i was driving. i dont think i was a backfire cause its never done it that loud before, but it could have been. no idea what it actually was tho. but today i did notice there was a small coolant leak, but i couldnt see from where. it was dripping down on the front of the engine and onto the oil pan. but it was a very slow leak and what was coming out was really thick and sticky. ill have to look into more later when i can take off the fan and what not.
