This is terrible. I'm glad you're making a recovery, and that you made it out alive.

In regards to a roll cage... no. Do NOT put a roll cage in your street car. He would probably be dead if he had hit his head on the front roof bar. Looks like the that's where his head would have at least skimmed. The glass gave in a bit to the impact, saving him from any major head trauma... thank god!

I only meant it as to if he had the proper harness that could resist the impact . . .

I apologize, I didn't mean to sound abrasive. Even with my 5 point harness I dread an impact without a helmet. I could easily nail part of the cage to my left...

Cage+Helmet= good

Holy SHXT! Glad you're alive man. Brutal accident and damage, but at least you're alive and will be kicking after physical therapy, or during. You chose.

Hope you have a speedy recovery!

i wish you all the best in a speedy recovery.

but i just wanna point a couple things out. yea. you should have been wearing your safety belt. but im not gunna harp on you for that, everyone has done it...

what i am gunna say, is unless you get a cage and pad the shiv out of it, then dont get a harness. the OEM seatbelts are built to move you forward in the event of a roll over, the racing harnesses are built not to. so if you roll, your well, f*ucked.

I live in Canada where all our medical bills are covered...what would a hospital stay like that cost?

thanks. i LOL when people keep saying i should have worn my belt,,,,,like i don't already know that.

i know full well that cages and full harnesses have no place in a DD street vehicle, i was just being overly dramatic about wanting a much higher level of security and safety from now on.

i'm not sure what the total bill will be, but i will post it when i find out. i'd be willing to bet on the total medical being 7k+

wow man, glad to see your alive and able to function

Like previously stated, in the next few weeks watch out for signs of damage to the spine b/c of the whiplash of impact and the amount of pressure that was sustained to your neck from hitting the windshield. My father also had a head on at a slower speed and he has had problems ever since.

Please keep up updated with you injuries and the battle with the negligent driver and the dreaded insurance company.

BEST OF LUCK FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY!!!

Wow, that really blows, at least your still alive to tell about it. I can understand the whole fear of being in a small car thing you have too.

Hope it all works out with insurance and everything. I wouldn't really call it quits for the sports car either. Get a Euro sports car that has as more r&d in safety than it does in handling and power.

thanks for the hospital warning pix... glad no one was on the passenger seat at the time.

hope for a speedy recovery & do go after that guy for you loss in work, car, etc...

I know my wife wants to "upgrade" to a roomier vehicle, eventhough her accord has decent mpg... to an acura mdx or similar suv, since NJ is full of idiotic drivers & the heavier vehicle always wins

I'd double, if not triple your projected hospital bill. **** just the ambulance ride was $500 plus..

I totalled my motorcycle, didn't need surgery, had x-rays and CT scan's done and spent 2 days in the hospital and mine was about 25k... You're looking at quite a bit more for your wonderful stay at the local hospital. Thank the lord I had health insurance at that time.

Just wishing you a speedy recovery. Don't give up on your passion.

Edit: I see you said OLDER sports cars, i thought you meant sports cars on a whole. Either way don't make this incident deter you.

Im glad to hear you are OK, at least mostly. I hope you heal up nicely. I see some pretty wicked scars in your future, Im sure that will please the ladies.

As for giving up on sports cars, that is your choice, but I must say, the thought that your 4runner is all that much safer is a false one. You would have been in far better shape had you been wearing a seatbelt.

Being bigger/heavier/taller, only changes how safe a vehicle is under certain circumstances. Its all about design, there is little that can be done when you involve a 6000 lb pile of GM piloted by a retard, even your 4runner would have suffered fatal damage.

The truth is, by adding another high heavy vehicle to the road, you are essentially increasing the danger to the rest of us.

Make some money off this, buy a new car, with lots of air bags. That is where the safety is.

Get the new Evo X if you want Air bags out the arse.

Me and my friend were siting in one awhile back and the guy was explaining all the safety features. Omg lol i had no idea they had Air bags for your body/head then the side of your head on the pillar and also your legs haha.

This i would show you what happens when you get in an accident in an evo but its not funny unless i make a video reenacting it. But it is basically nothing.

Again though i hope you are making a speedy recovery!

One Love,

Ghasty

My CTS is the same way. Airbags are all over the place, and it's rather beefy. My 240 is about as safe as a motorcycle for street use...

wow, i was hungry till i saw your leg. lol. thats brutal. i hope your recovery goes well.

the kid that turned in front of you needs his *** beaten and should be responsible for your car and the medical bills and what you lose not working at the very least. he should have had insurance. i have driven without insurance before but i stayed away from everyone else on the roadway and was extra extra cautious.

Wow! thats gnarly. I'm glad you made it. And best of luck on your recovery. Don't give up on sports cars that easily. There are few cars made that are safer than a EVO or WRX. If your pocket goes deaper BMW and Volvo also make some fun and incredibly safe cars. Just remember any car would be totaled by that kind of accident.

The medical bill will probably be higher than 7k. The American hospitalization industry is the biggest rip-off ever.

Glad to see you're okay, but it looks like they did a crappy job on your stitches.

Okay, enough negativity. You're lucky to be alive. Next time, just wear your seatbelt
