UPDATESSSS!!!!

So this morning I got up around 9, got out side, its about 38-39 degrees....cold as bawls. I got the straps out and started lining up how I was going to tow the 240 out of the grass. I decided the Scott's 17hp lawn tractor could do the job. I had my dad drive it and its hilarious to know our tractor has a 2way diff in it, because it spun both wheels trying to pull the car out, I rocked it loose out of the ruts and the tractor pulled it with ease.

So after I got it out the circle, I started jacking the car up with the scissor jacks....I suck. I never used scissor jacks to lift a car and I've never jacked a car up to get both front wheels off the ground. Tom showed up just in time to help me sort it out.

First thing I did was check out the frame rails. Oiiiii, the drivers side rail is beatttttt up. So Tom and I are under the car looking at stuff, and Tom noticed another part I didnt know about. I have a lightweight aluminum driveshaft! So +1 for this car.

So we jumped right into work, Keegan, Doug and Dante showed up a "little" later then they said they'd be there, so It gave Tom and I time to get some other stuff done. We took all the front fenders and bumper off, so we could get to work. We beat/rolled the front frame so I can go lower and not cut my tire down. First pic is rolled and beaten, second is what stock looks like.

LOL....Forgot this pic of me, approving the work Tom just did, I did the other side, but Tom did a better job.

Also found out today that my coilovers have dampening adjusters. They are on the bottom, so I can do autocross stuff now. Tom did some rust prevention, and showed me some tricks with the wire wheel. He also cleaned up my front coilovers so they dont die/rust in the winter. We also did some other odds and ends stuff, like removing heat shields and different unneeded things. Weight savings as Tom calls it. lol.

So I'll fast forward to the rest of the lancaster crew's arrival.

Keegan jumped in right away and started laying in the new upper harness. Tom and I had already removed the lower harness, so we could just install that quicker. Keegan made a few adjustments but its all in. Only problem was my car "had" the single cam KA MAF, which doesnt bolt into this harness. So I'll be needing and SR MAF, because I sold mine to someone else already. The car got a new lower harness today as well. Keegan also kicked a** on the boost gauge line, which he made out of brake lining, YEAH, brake line. I'll never lose a reading on my boost! I sadly didnt get a pic of him bending the line or even a pic of it installed, Ill get that tomorrow when I go out and solder some wires. Here is a pic of Keegan doing work.

So all in all, today was a productive day, I'm sure the guys will fill in anything I missed, It was great meeting you Doug, and hanging with all you guys, its def. fun working on the car with alot of people there, especially with all the joking around, or not telling people about boogers...lol. But all I can say is GET EXCITE!!!! This 240 is getting close to starting again. Lemme know what you thinkkkk. And as a bonus, here is the pic of the day's finished work, finally 3 240's sitting together, and that hondaaaaaa.

It's kinda sad how bad the frame rail rust is on the drivers side, and a bit under the drivers clutch pedal and a big hole in the muffler area, but other than that, even the shock towers are fine. A bit starting on the firewall that we started to fix up today.

Found some really bad things under there... good thing I noticed em lol... Front LCA bolts/nuts were about to fall off the subframe because they were very loose... Not torqued down for whatever reason they may have been removed before...

One front tension rod was allowing the ball joint to pivot out of true, so we set it back in place and tightened the locking nut. Good thing the other side was for length adjusting and didn't come undone so alignment wasn't compromised.

Coilover threads hit up with WD-40 and then non corrosive tire shine to help with winter protection, front tension rods hit up with WD-40. I believe you should care for your 'rods' whenever you can get under your car unless you happen to have version 3 MAX USA rods with dust shields or equivalent parts.

Exhaust mount on the trans was also left installed? lol so we removed for ground clearance: Downpipe/testpipe exhaust piece has no bracket for this location.Fun day!

LOL and man I did a better job at banging the tire cutting frame area? I couldn't have gotten the passenger side as well... thats where you being left handed came in handy LAWL!

ahahah, dude i am ALWAYS hours late to things. its just how i am. youll learn this.

all you gotta do is tell me to be there by noon if you really need be by 3 lol.

we did some good work. boost line came out sweet. im stoked for that. minimal stupid rubber line. funny part is, if you wouldnt have told anyone, theyd think its the clutch hardline.

harness came out surprisingly well. pretty excited for that.

Ok, so I wanted to do major work on the car today, but this crap stopped me.

So I decided to make the first of two brackets for the front bumper. I started with some 16 gauge sheet metal. Taped off the size of the bracket. Very simple idea, first of many.

Cut it out with a dremel tool, took me 3 discs, but I got it done.

So I originally bent the strip in half around a giant marks alot marker. I thought that would boost up the front high enough, boy was I wrong. So I ended up making a huge change in the plan. I then went out and test fitted to the car so i could see where i needed to drill the holes for the bolts and nuts. Marked my holes and drilled them out.

I went and installed it on the passanger side with the bolts and nuts.

So here is what it did.....

Needless to say, after all the work I put in, nothing, or very little rise. I need to make the metal strap a little longer, and bend it straight up, and drill the top holes further back in the metal, so it pulls the bumper closer to the hood. We'll see, thats all I did tonight.

MANNNNNNN IT IS FLIPPIN COLD OUT!!!!!! Like 30 degrees cold.... Like, you hit your knuckles once and you wanna kill small animals cold. So I did as much as I could until I swore myself into quitting for the day. The wind was blowing too...doesn't help. So I started by pulling the lever for the hatch, and it doesn't open. Wonderful, so I grabbed the seat belt, wrapped it around the handle and then clipped it in. This holds the lever up so i can open the hatch and readjust the hatch's hatch. LOL, so after that, I started work on the fuel pump ground. I unscrewed one bolt, and sanded down the region by the bolt, that way I can get a good ground. I used 3 o ring terminals, and grounded the ground to the outside of the fuel pump cover. Here are midprocess and finished product pics.

After that I finished running the rest of my boost gauge setup. I had to take small pieces of vacuum hose and a simple plastic connector. Simple enough, but I'm sure Keegan won't be happy that I was too lazy because I was cold to try to find the right cutters to reduce 4 inches of vacuum hose to 2 inches. LOL. Oh well, its done, and can be adjusted later. Here is the pic of that.

And as a bonus, here is a pic of the hardlined vacuum line, possibly the first on a 240, prolly not, but its cool as hell.

Now, I guess in all the excitement friday, no one installed any of the lower harness plugs. I finished installing all the alternator and starter power lines, grounds and sensors. The only sensor not plugged in is the oil light one, what a pain in the a**, I gotta figure out how to get that on, then. Possibly tonight or friday I'll get the soldering done. Only have 2 connections to do. And I just finished making the second bracket for the bumper, its done and on, really did boost up the front abit, doesn't look so down syndromish, but I dont have a pic because it was too dark, and I'm too cold and cut up to touch anything right now.

Ahhh, while the sizes are the same, their pinned connections are not, the single cam KA MAF has a 3 pin connector, where as the SR MAF has a 4 pin connector. My harness has a 4 pin connector, and I had a 3 pin on the KA MAF, so they are no good.

SOHCs are 3 pin; SRs are 4. It literally would not plug in because the plug on the harness was too big, AKA too many plugs. I don't know what else it would be besides a SOHC MAF cause the car used to have a SOHC anyway.

no they're not.

i gotta look into this more, with the whole 3pin vs 4 pin maf.

to solve the problem, im just giving him my maf to match the harness.

Lookin' good man. Hell when u get it running we might be able to go play in the snow together lol.. We'll have to see about the mudflaps. Maybe just loosely see how they look on each others cars, but yeah if you had wheels they'd look better.

Hydro brake won't be too hard. Hopefully we can has the garage for that install and brake bleeding lol.

Next time I go home remind me to look for a turbo compressor outlet piping coupler. I can give u my old one because I don't want u running around with that black toilet drain pipe lol..

Yeah man, we got the garage for the brake bleeding/hydro install. We got the garage for any installs or work, just as long as we dont keep it in overnight.

Ok, now that I had some daylight, I figured I would show the improvement with the bumper risers I made. I figured out a way to pull it back, I'll add another peice of metal to each one that gets pop riveted on the top and has the bolt hole about an inch back towards the rad. But anyways here is before....

And after....

I'm gunna have to make a new sig soon.

Hey man, I just wanted to say I've enjoyed reading all 4 pages of this thread! I had a '93 CA18DET coupe with many of the same problems, so I know the nightmare you're experiencing. I didn't have any help to fix mine, so be thankful for all the guys here that are so supportive! It's a great learning experience, there's no better way to learn your car inside and out than to basically rebuild it.

I have to admit though, I'm very jealous. lol. I'm from Chambersburg. I'm stationed in Pearl Harbor for the next 5 years So when I come home in August on leave, y'all need to make a trip out 30 West to come show me yo' whips! If you don't mind that is I'd like to see this little piggy run all day long.

Yeah Dale, that rust is crazy bad, It'll be getting looked at in the spring by a few shops. As for working in the cold, its an aqcuired skill, i work in this stuff every night, so im kinda used to it, and all last winter i was wrenching on my ex g/f's monte carlo, it was a POS, always breaking stuff. Cut my hand numerous times on the big metal fan unwrapping a fan belt that broke and wound itself around the fan.
