Wow, you sound like you're implying that 240s are hard to find. :tisk:

Magnum375 Jr. wrote:Sooooooo..... I went to the track, errrr well attempted. Car was running perfectly all the way to lancaster to pick up Tom, and after I picked him up we started heading down a nice back road and there were a few hills, decel sounded great, but heading up a hill going around a bend i heard the car developing a misfire. Tom didnt think it was till i floored it and the subaru STI sound followed suit. So, we drove about 5 miles, hoping the car would fix itself, sometimes my magnum would misfire and fix itself, so i figured maybe its intermitent. Not the case. Pull over, the motor is rocking like crazy, but its running. No loud banging or clanking or knocking. So we diagnosed it as a spark issue. We turned around hit up the advanced auto on rt. 30 and prayed that plugs were the problem. Started the car up and still a horrible misfire. So i ruled out plugs. So i decided to limp it back to harrisburg, 30 miles. At 70 mph in 5th gear, it ran smooth, didnt even sound like it was on 3 cylinders, i made sure i didnt get it into boost.

Got home and diagnosed it as a fuel injector. I waited til the next day, but I pulled each injector plug off and cylinders 1,2 and 4 made it almost stall out, cylinder 3 made no exhaust note change. I pulled the injector and soaked it in seafoam for 2 days. Plugged it back in, and still a misfire. So I checked to make sure it is infact an injector, by swapping cyl 2 and 3's coil packs. Pulled cyl 2 injector plug, motor almost dies. So its in fact cyl. 3 injector. So I have a set of injectors im purchasing friday, and only installing the one.

This is my last update. Car is up for sale and will be sold. I have already started selling parts here and there. I'm not parting out, so dont ask, unless you have a stock replacement. I know I'm taking the quitters way out, but I cannot stand the unreliability and frustration everytime i try to take the car to an event or just drive it. I will post a link to my craigslist ad for the car and the parts later, but I currently have a guy with an offer, so I'm just fixing the issue and then seeing if i can sell it as is.
Hopefully its just the injector bro. Myself and a few friends have had the same issue with cylinder 3. Heard it was more common than we imagined. Something with being off a few micrometers from factory, hence the reason for it going out first on a lot of ka's. Could be hear say. But I did the same troubleshooting an ended up being the piston ring. If you're still waiting for your injector, do a dry/wet compression check on that cylinder.

this is got to be one of the crappiest endings to a build thread ive ever read :chuckle: . i had setbacks with my car. i even got so fed up with it last year that i stuffed it in the garage under a couple layers of car covers and didnt even pull it out from those car covers for a year. she was nothing but problems after i pulled my SR and put in the RB. finally got her out 2 weeks ago and fixed her. still puts a smile on my face to drive her. sucks you sold your car but building a true track car or a true project car isnt for everyone. s*** can be REALLY frustrating

So I sold my last 240 part (welded diff guts) last weekend, but I am now on the look for a coupe. I'm gunna be pretty damn picky this time. Figured I'd bump this just cause I see all the lancaster threads getting bumped, I thought my 240 was frustrating, the civic I just bought 3 months ago for a daily has been sitting for 2 months, at least. I'm ready to get into a car I can work on.
