Hmm, 20 sq feet won't even cover the side panels! If you want to do the trunk and side panels, then you need ~ 50 SQ ft!

I used 70 sq ft on my doors, trunk, and both rear side panels and tire wells!

I used almost 20 SQ ft alone on just one side of the car's quarter panels... look at the pics above again... you'll see the DYNAMAT EXTREME was 20 S ft, it it is only reall on the drivers side quarter panel and a little bit of the passenger side's

No disrespect, but most folks don't know or care about the difference between a Rockford T2 and a P1... and they don't need to! Its not important for most folks, so I doubt the T2 will get a reaction out of anyone except for folks that know car audio.

But yes, the T2 is a monster of a subwoofer... I mean its not the MTX JACKHAMMER, but its still a damn powerful sub...

oh, and for you guys that don't know what the jackhammer is... its the one down at the bottom

damn! 4000$ is insane, and 10 000 watts of power is like wth but 100dbl of bass, thats RIDICULOUS BASS

Is it worth doing the floor? It doesn't look like you or vballer did it....

Is it because it's a B* to get the carpet up or it would be minimal difference in sound performance?

If you do the floor, you'll probably notice less road noise... if you can get it out, I say go ahead and do it.

I didn't do the floor or rear seats due to time constraints and lack of material... if I had more time and more materials, I would have done both the floor and the rear seats...

Buit definately for the rear quarter panels , tire wells, and front doors... you'll notice a nice decrease in road noise when all of those are done... the floor and rear seats can only help!

And if I'm not wrong, I think Vballer did his rear seats and floors, at least I nkow I read on here that someone did them!

trunk, and both rear side panels and tire wells are all I plan doing for now.. I have the trunk lid already done. Also I'm sure you used more then one layer of sdm so 20 sq ft would go fast, but I could be wrong. Question now is did you start with one layer at a time or what? IMO that jackhammer is a joke theres better subs out then that. check out DD audio, t3 audio, soundstream list goes on... http://www.audiojunkies.com/bl...oofer http://audioforum.termpro.com

I did, I did the side panels first, then drove around a little while, then I did the floor. I promise each one will have a significant impact that you WILL hear. I knew it would be noticable, but I was shocked at how much.

Uh Oh. I think I just figured out what your suprise is doc. I remember we had a little chat about your installer and who he used to work for. Im pretty sure I know now

Much respect my friend, just curious as to why you say the Jackhammer is a joke? I've heard the Jackhammer in person installed in an Escalade with 6,000 watts RMS fgoing to it, and it is a beast.

I saw your link, and there may indeed be more powerful subs out there, but the Jackhammer is no pushover either!!! Overpriced? HELL YES!!! But not a joke!

Actually, I only used one layer for everything.. some small areas were doubled over to get the angles, but really, 20 SQ feet is NOT alot!!!

THe rear quarter panels go up and back further than you think. You can use up the entire 20 SQ feet on just one side of the quarter panels... you'll see what I mean when you get in there, trying to guesstimate from inside the car is deceiving... you have to wait until you pull out the panel...

I would suggest 100 SQ ft to get both doors, both rear quarter panels completely, both tire wells, and the entire trunk!!!

I'm sure people would be shocked on the power it puts out or what not but look at it like I I'm it's 22" sub 369lbs and 23" tall so compared to others it's big for nothing it's like 6 times heavier then the dd z18 and many others. anyway I don't wan't to start stuff on the forums and it's off topic in a way. so thanks for the info on the amount needed for the SDM.

ohh, you meant a joke like that... yeah dude, I spoke with an MTX rep when they had their Escalade with the Jackhammer at my local audio shop... I think they meant for it to be rediculously large, oversized, and overweight. They just wanted to say they had the biggest subwoofer out there, at the time of conception, it probablyu was one of the most powerful ones out there, but the shear size and enormous and over the top look makes it unique, because, honestly, if I could afford to blow $3,000 on a woofer, I had the space for it, and I had the money for the rediculous number of amps, BAt caps, and batteries to power it, I would get the DD9918Z just to say I have it... that could actually fit in a car!!!

BUt no sensible person is gonna get the Jackhammer, and that's the big difference. As crazy as it sounds, the DD9918Z is more practical than the Jackhammer, even though it blows the jackhammer out of the water!

SO I think we are in agreement my friend on the fact that the Jackhammer is a ridiculously oversized (for no reason other than to just be big) heavy and cumbersome thing for anyone to put in their car... in that sense, yes it is a joke.. but not in terms of its abilities

That's a good question, why is your trunk lid off?!?! lol. That's pretty crazy...I didn't think it was an easy job to remove a trunk lid! I'm getting pretty psyched to see where this is going!

So we're talking about 150 sq ft to cover the entire car? floor and all? How difficult was it to do the floor in comparison to the rest of the car?

Doc looks like the install is coming along nicely. The finished product is going to THUMP!!!!

im totally lost at what the "secret" is...

Anyways... at carlisle i saw a hinged trunk... i cant describe the way it looks.. but it was essentially one bracket attached to the lid of the trunk, allowing it to "flop down" so you can see the license plate with the trunk open... Or are you gonna throw a TV/xbox in the trunk so i can whoop you in dance dance revolution when i see you in august lol

not that that has anything to do with the price of coffee... but i thought with the trunk off.. maybe thats going on? or did they need to do it to shove the massive enclosure in there? what are you driving around? I saw a guy with a cane on a segway with a big helmet.. was that you? hehe
