lol, preciate the love... the thing is... I said that after my last system...

I was done with the audio stuff... and then when I had my daughter, I was really done... but then, my daughter's stroller wouldn't fit into my trunk, so I was like, oh well, might as well do a system

BUt, I wanted to do the system right, and then not ever have to worry about it ever again, no need for upgrades because everything I'm getting is as close to top of the line as I would ever want.. and I will still have trunk space left over in the end!

I've already begun ordering the stuff, I will begin to post pics as they trickle in.. Equipment should all be here by the end of next week, install is set for the first wek in May, will take about 5-6 days to do it right! Continuous updated pics will be posted!

Oh yeah, and in case anyone was wondering... the T212D4 sub is larger than the T1's you see in the picture, and can handle just as much power as those two subs combined.... scary, I know!

Well, yes and no...

I am in the 6th year of a combined MD/PhD program at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. During year four, my thesis mentor and my research lab moved across the country to beautiful sunny San Diego, so I moved out here with them.

The MD/PhD program fully funds students during both medical school and graduate school, and we get a living stipend. As part of my incentive to move to San Diego, my thesis mentor agreed to bump my stipend when I moved to San Diego. However, you can not be enrolled as a full time student in two different institutions at the same time, so while I am out in San Diego, I had to be hired hired as a staff research scientist, in order to continue my funding. One of the perks of this is that, as staff, I am under the union, and they are constantly giving all union members raises... oh yeah, my wife is the property manager at our apartment complex, so we don't pay a lot for rent or utilities (electricity, water, etc).... as in $0

So yes, I am a student, but I'm on salary at the University and I live rent free so I can save quite a bit of money...

Car audio and video is just my hobby, I picked it up as an undergrad, and now I'm pretty much hooked. If medicine and research doesn't work out, I'd have no problem opening up a car audio install shop and doing that for a living... I just like taking things apart and putting them back together again and seeing them work... its all pretty simple actually!

Dr... sheeeit... i had a feeling you were on one of those programs... a friend of mine did a 6 yr dr in... i cant remember where it was.. some middle america state (the only univ that offered the 6yr dr)... anyways now hes the youngest board certified neurologist in the country... and didnt pay a dime for his schooling... Many people think "ohh med school is a fortune" but they dont do the legwork to find out whats available out there.... as you know im in finance... and ive been playing with the idea of leaving the biz and opening up shop... ebay based probably... and i ran some prelim numbers... if i work 40 hours a week (extrapolating my current sales and margins) i could clear $150k a year... and thats if the increase in sales doesnt decrease my overhead etc (which it should)....

To tell you the truth... id move to cali in a heartbeat if i wasnt in finance (and so will my girl, she constantly asks me why we cant just leave)

Idk im ranting right now... partially because its awesome outside right now and i opened my sunroof for the first time in a LONG time... ok im done.. jacking your thread.....

I cant wait to see the pics and hopefully ill get to feel my ribs knocking around in my chest in august!

nope, as you can see, I took everything out of my signature line regarding my upgrades... No need to lay it all out there cuz 1. I'm not trying to impress anyone, and 2. I don't want anyone getting any bright ideas and paying my car a visit for some free stuff...

that would actually be a very bad idea for anyone!!! ... so I may post an upgrade here or there, but I'm not gonna list every single mod I've got on my car... specially since that's about about $5,000 worth of removable stuff... come to think of it, I now need to upgrade my car audio insurance for my vehicle!

Considering what you're studying I'd say car audio would be easy

That 4.3 screen, so a flash drive with mp3s can be played thru the input?Lets say I had a rear camera playin on the D3, can this play a front camera?

Yes, all in all, I have a number of inputs for my setups

The Avic D3 has one rear A/V input and one front 3.5mm A/V input (For things like ipod video, camcorder, etc)

The 4.3" Innovatek DVD player has a USB input which I absolutely love... So you can load a USB jump drive (1, 2, 4, 8, 16 Gig, etc) with tons of music videos, songs, pictures, etc... and it will play them for you! Since I have the A/V out from the Inoovatek dvd player going to the A/V RCA input on the back of the Avic D3, I can use the innovotek dvd player and usb player and it shows up on my innovatek screen, my Avic D3, and my two rear monitors... and I still have my Avic D3 DV drive free to operate my Navigation disc full time!

Also, regarding the camera, YES, absolutely.. it also has a camera input that switches on when you put the car in reverse... so you could mount a nother licese plate camera on the front of the vehicle, and hook that camera to the camera input on the innovotek, that way, when you hit reverse, you will see both in front and behind you... it would be kind of wired, but essentially you ould do that...

I don't have mine hooked up because, when I back up, and my rear view camera kicks in on the Avic D3 screen.. my Innovatek screen still shows the music videos... I LOVE IT!!!!!!

**** THis is the accesory Innovatek DVD player I bought, the one with the silver face at the bottom******

hey rjdmmfl1,

Quick question. I see you're going with B-Quiet Ultimate. Is that because of the price or because you feel it's better than Dynamat Xtreme? Just wondering for myself when the time comes.

Well, the prices on that chart are a little on the high end, although I guess reflective of retail prices. But on eBay the Dynamat Xtreme is $2.7/sq ft while the B-Quiet Ultimate is $2/sq ft, still quite a bit cheaper.

From the chart looks like the Dynamat is thicker and heavier, which I'd think would lead to better results? And looks like the Dynamat actually performs slightly better at temperatures up to 20C or so, but then the B-Quiet Ultimate takes over at 30C and higher. The temperature ranges for both are pretty ridiculously low and high, so that's a non issue.

I guess seeing as how they're both quite similar, price wise the B-Quiet wins by a fair margin. Although 50sq feet is a LOT

Oh and btw, is there anyway your shop could take some pics of the box as they build it? Im very interested in fiberglass as my next step, but Ive never seen the construction of a ported fiberglass box.

Best ebay price = dynamat extreme 36 sq ft = $117 shipped = $3.25/ sq ft

Best ebay price = B quiet ultimate 50 sq ft = $126 shipped = $2.52 / sq ft

Thicker and heavier does not necessairly mean better, as evident by ADP.. at usuable temperatures, B quiet is = or better for waaayyyyy less..., and it weighs less, this is a no brainer to me!
tarek wrote: Although 50sq feet is a LOT
not really, when you correctly do both doors and the entire trunk... and whatever 's left over, I'll either resell on ebay, or dynamat the floors and firwall area to decrease road noise!

I can't wait for the pics. Oh. and I ordered my b-quiet right from the b-quiet website and the total for all 50 feet of extreme was 90 with rush delivery.

Doc, any reason that you are going with Infinity dash speakers? I THINK you had said somewhere before that Boston Acoustics didn't have the speakers you wanted in 3.5", bit I don't quite remember, and I couldn't find the thread. Should be pretty sweet one its all done though. Oh, and vballer, as far as I know, the basic process for making fiberglass enclosures is a bit like this: first, you gotta know what you want it to look like, then with lots of patience, you make a wooden frame and cover it with fiberglass fabric and resin. Then numerous coats of bondo (sanding between each coat), prime/paint, and install!
