I'm always scared of doing something like that (putting things on backwards, forgetting them, etc.) I guess that's why it takes me a lot longer to do repair/upgrade work on my cars. I'm so paranoid about messing up that I'm constantly checking things and looking at the manual. I still screw things up though :/ On a different note, I am transferring to the ER at the hospital I work at starting next week. I'll still be a nurse tech (I have one more yr of nursing school) but instead of doing a CNA's job (like I have been on the floor) I'll get to do nursing stuff, like start IV's, insert caths, run EKGs, chart, etc. I'm really looking forward to it.

Homeslice, good to hear you'll finally be doing something you enjoy.

Dubs - Either a junkyard or a dealership are your best bets.

Chris, so there is no need to take apart the whole motor? I was worried that the copper flakes were all in my system and would need a full rebuild. If I can just check the crank for excessive scoring or have it polished and then new bearings that would save me a load of work.

Thanks guys I don't feel so bad now, mine was just a gasket freshen up. Got a new ka today by the way, s14 ka with supposed 80k for $100. Took the valve cover off and it looked real clean and I spun the crank and from what I could feel compression felt good and cam timing looked good. Worth the gamble to get my car inspected :woot: :mike

Just boost that engine then. The best KA I've ever had was one out of an s14 that I literally never took the valve cover off of.

Got my new tune in the mail, EFI Spec tune for 550's and a z32 mafs, 93 octane. He just sent me the chips, saved on shipping by not having to mail my ecu out. I've had the 370cc/stock mafs tune for about 2 years now and never had a problem with it, this new one should be the same. I really like rom tunes haha.

razi throw an afpr on that b**** and run 4bars.. Its the only real step before spending a couple hundred bux for squirters. I have 4 mod'd stockers but have yet to get em cleaned and tested. Locally someone has some (looks to be mod'd but they are listed as venom) 550s for a decent price.

rom tunes are the s***, diy roms are even better. I dont worry if my car will start or think to myself watch the wb all day like with other setups. Its hands down the best bet. Not sure what they charge but I have the stuff to do the roms and burn them... just saying...

sidewayz
best motor I ever bought was of unknown unknown , worst was all known and had like 500 miles on it..

I have some Venom 550's, they came on the motor I bought. EFI won't tune for Venom, apparently they are really crappy injectors. I found some Nismo 550's for $250 so I went ahead and bought them.

Five-O seems to have a good reputation, they include flow charts with each set of injectors they sell. They are re-machined stock injectors, but they only use JECS cores to drill out. Enjuku also sells them so I wouldn't think they would be too bad.

Oh, I didn't know Five-Os were well known.
I thought about either buying Five-O or Deatschwerks 550cc injectors.
I'm in no rush for more power yet, so I'll just wait for now.

When I was waiting to hear back about the Nismo's I came across some Five-O's, a bunch of subie guys run them with no issues. EFI says Deatschwerks sometimes don't idle correctly cause the spray pattern gets messed up in the re-drilling process. Other than that they're quality injectors, they were on my "to research/buy" list haha.

I just sent my stock injectors to Deatschwerks in for their basic service and rail service. I replaced the IACV & gasket, knock sensor, all of the coolant hoses underneath the intake manifold, installed a Quest 125amp alternator using Codyace's adapter, and new intake and throttle body gaskets. I've put everything back together and am just waiting on the injectors to come back. I'm hoping to get the car tuned by a shop in Dallas, GA that is an authorized NIStune tuner sometime this fall.

Homeslice is that the alternator I send you like a year ago? lol

Edit - actually that was razi who got that... homeslice you wound up with my suspension stuff wasn't it? I can't believe I parted out the S13 2 years ago... so stupid... :tisk:

lol nice.
I ended up with an 08 Wrx and my motorcycle.. not really sure which one is more fun.
The S13 was definitely a more "entertaining" car than the wrx but it's all good.

I still have the suspension stuff, sans the RUCA's and T/C rods. The bushings split on the T/C rods (a common problem with them apparently) and the when I went to get an alignment (like a yr later lol), the RUCA's couldn't be adjusted. The threading had seized up. Still have the traction and toe rods on though.

Anybody ever had a problem with godspeed RUCA's hitting the rear strut on an S14? Really can't figure this out, it's the exact length as the stock one but at some point it came in contact with the strut cause there is a dent on each one (strut). I thought the bend looked pretty similiar before I put them on so I was wondering it it has anything to do with my struts being blown allowing contact.

Did you put them facing on the correct way?
I'm not sure if that matters, but the RUCA is supposed to be pointing towards the front of the car.

Damn Razi, you are the man. I asked this question on a couple different forums and you are the only one who nailed without even seeing a picture. This is one time I don't mind looking like a total a$$ cause I was at a lost trying to figure it out. I owe you one :toast:

You bet! It's an hx30 with the 9cm^2 exhaust housing, should be comparable to a gt30r. Some guy in Europe made 325whp and 375tq at 18 psi on an sr, my wastegate is set at 15 psi so on the ka I think I can expect around the same numbers. It's crazy how it makes that much more tq than hp on an sr!

much better choice on snail man!
iirc lexcrob did a custom top mount t2, it worked but negated the main reason for t2 on ka, he had to make custom outlet/downpipe/ic piping.. made an easy project hard imho.

maybe a short pull for those numbers on the sr? I thought sr's made better hp than trq due to design.

Yeah it surprised me too, here's the dyno graph of his pull. Power peaks pretty soon, I think he had some exhaust issues that made it a pretty poor flowing exhaust.

huh that is an odd sr dyno. The normal is a build of hp correct?

sorry to hear that.. that sucks :frown:

I'd been a little leery of how the threading was actually going to hold up. I'd gotten into the practice of spraying them down with WD40 after every rainstorm.
