Haha, I want 550cc's too!
I'm afraid to floor it, after seeing your injector duty cycles... :P

I really like the t28 I have. I drifted a friend's ka-t with a Holset he35, made sooo much power but anything under 3500 rpms was useless because the turbo spools so late. I think what I'm going to do with this new engine is run that new xs power top mount manifold, a t3/t2 adapter, and just run my current turbo top mount. I'll have to get a new downpipe made, but once I upgrade to a t3 (possibly an hx30) I'll only have to weld a new dp flange on since the turbo will be in the same spot. Or maybe I'll just flip this manifold and weld in some bracing, instant top mount t2 mani haha.
what kinda t28 do you have man? I'm thinking of going bottom mount in the future with a t28 and keep it low profile

He's running the GTi-R turbo I think.
You should try and stuff your T3 in a bottom mount. :P

Yall can't be talking about bottom mount setups. My Vert is wanting power and I don't need to do that.

Both Coupe and Vert need cosmetic help before anything else. That's not counting the Z33 susp install and alignment that the G35 needs. I will take donations. :)

Haha Razi is right, I have a GTi-R turbo, it's basically a journal bearing version of the disco potato. t2 wheel/turbine housing, t3 compressor/housing. It's efficient up to 20 psi, I made right about 300whp at 12 psi, so this turbo is fine for my power goals haha.

I also got new plates, right when I blew a head gasket. Hopefully I get my car back on the road so I can make the most out of these lol.

Check this out, T3 flanged and externally wastegated. I though about something like this with my 20G

Just realized that's the wrong picture. I had one pretty similiar for the KA that I was gonna buy a little while ago.

that's a cool looking manifold except for the external wastegate location, I would've put it off to the side of the collector so I could attach an OE sr20 heat shield to it :yesnod

I'm so glad we got out of the CA assignment. Not being able to do whatever I want to my own car is retarded. Especially if I can modify it without negatively effecting emissions output. Screw CA and all the Liberal scumbags that live there.

I personally don't know how the DE inspection laws are but I'm sure they are pretty lax. I know a lot a retirees hed in that direction from the Baltimore/Washington area to be more laid back. CA= :sissies: JK

Spooled- I thing the KA mani I was talking about actually had a wastegate port toward the front of the motor coming off the collector. Never seen a SR heat shield but may have worked.

the things i would do if i were governor...rb's, sr's, ka-t's, LSx's all legal as long as they pass the PPM's for HC's and NOX make sense right?

^uhh, don't think my SR passes emissions right now. I'm still running a resonated test pipe instead of a cat. One user on 240atlanta.com posted his SR emissions results a few years ago. It was a basic swap (stock turbo, full 3" exhaust and DP, FMIC, etc.) but he did have a cat and he passed with good numbers. It was without any tune too IIRC.

I know a guy here in MD who runs a SR in his '95 and kept it simple and he passes the sniffer

Chris, from what I have heard from many is that you are safe up to 85% duty cycle max. Why do you want to go through so much trouble of running a T28 topmount status? I have a Holset HX35 with the flapper door already welded shut, a brand new dp flange made for the Holset discharge, new gaskets, and even the 180* rotateable compressor outlet off of a Dodge Cummins (v band connection, the clamp of which I also have) that easily mates to a silicone coupler for your hotside IC piping. I will sell you all those things and throw in an older Turbinetics external gate for a good price if you are interested.

Mainly because I like my turbo haha. I hit 10 psi by 2500, starts spooling at 2000, and can support up to 350whp. Eventually I will go t3, but it will be with something smaller than an hx35, maybe an hx30. I drove a ka with an he35 at driftwater, it hit full boost at 3500 but it made a world of difference while drifting. I like to do long e-brake slides into corners, and with boost hitting even as late as 3500 the rpms/load were down to the point that I would lose the drift because I wasn't in the powerband. Sure I could get used to it, but I'm too happy with my current turbo to warrant going any bigger.

So... rememberwhen I saiid my car was making a super annoying high pitch sound? Well I found out what its from, but a little too late. :frown:
I blew my intake manifold gasket today. I was driving home from work and then my decides that it doesn't like running on all 4. Drove it home and sprayed some starter fluid on the manifold and she perked right up.

That makes perfect sense then. The T28's also make great street daily driven turbos in traffic because of the response. The biggest obstacle going with a Holset and a T3/T4 topmount is finding a company that makes a mani/dp who has test fitted their parts with a Holset. Or finding out which combination of mani/dp will work. I run a spaced hood so I have a little more room for clearance. I am not sure how the dimensions of the Holset HX35's compare to Garret T3/T4's.

^about to do the same as Dubs. The wife and I are going to Seattle next week, but once I get back my work schedule slacks off for the rest of the summer and I'll have time to start replacing gaskets (all intake and exhaust ones to the turbo elbow) and parts to freshen up the motor. Going to mostly be changing sensors and the like, send my fuel injectors to Deatchwerks for cleaning, maybe I'll even get around to re-installing the A/C this year lol.

Top mount t2 what?!? I'm probably going to weld a flange for an external wastegate right at the collector and either tack weld or bolt the flapper door shut so I can run a Tial external wg. Either way my car will be down for a while so I'll be able to mock everything up and make sure it fits. This should be fun!

intake mani gasket was a success! no moar squealing.. apparently one of the previous owners thought it would be a good idea to put 2 gaskets on.. so one of the gaskets was just slapping around in there like a blade of grass between your thumbs...
...bad news though.. still only running on 3. im pretty sure its injector #4. I got one on the way, it'll be here in about a week or more.
man those things aren't cheap.

2 gaskets...that means twice the sealing capabilities, right?!?!?!
