House goes up for sale tomorrow, what a f*** headache this has been. You have to love putting money and time into a house just so you can lose 10 to 15 motherfvckingthousand dollars on the sale :mike

BUT, I'll be happy just to sell it and move on.

Had my spare S14 towed away yesterday...sad moment. She was a good ole parts car, always willing to donate something for the cause :frown:

All my coolant stuff came in today, I didn't realize the coolant swirl tank came with everything needed to install it haha. Now I have 2 spare 1/8 npt hose fittings, a bunch of hose clamps, and like 6' of hose. Hopefully I'll have all that installed in the next few weeks, right after I do a coolant flush.

Also, I'm re-drilling one of my 4 lug hubs tomorrow. Ichiba only sells pairs so I would have to buy 2 in order to replace my broken one, so I'm heading to my school's machine shop with the 4 lug hub, a 5 lug rotor, and some feeler gauges in the morning. Hopefully it comes out decently haha.

Oh hey buddy, havent posted here since last year. If you decide to recirc your bov, make sure that your hose and fitting that you install on your piping after the maf are the same diameter. The bov needs all the opening it can get when it releases air back into the metered air circuit. If its too restricted you will get compressor chatter, the little brother of compressor surge. I also got one if those swirl tanks, a PBM one, and some OEM radiator hoses I need to put on. Im interested to see where you mount yours. The instructions say to mount it slightly higher than the radiator.

I plan on putting it all on sometime this week, school is out so I'll have a lot more free time. I'm in the middle of an oil pump revival right now though, I'm putting in a new spring and plunger in hopes that it fixes my extremely low oil pressure. Once that's done it's gonna be the coolant stuff, then I'll work on rebuilding my spare engine. Thanks for the heads up about the recirc, I'll keep that in mind.

I also rubbed through my driver's side fender harness yesterday, it fell down somehow and now my wipers don't work. Good thing is the car is already on stands with the wheels off for the oil pump stuff, so getting to the harness won't be a problem.

Biggie, if that's all you need course wise, go ahead and do it. I started working when I was young too. Started under the table when I was 14, every summer and major school break (missed a lot of fun times with friends bc of it too) This'll be my first summer off from classes since returning to school (2 yrs) so I'm looking forward to just working, piddling on the car, and spending time with my wife. Sorry to hear about your home value loss WD, it's bad everywhere. I've got friends trying to move now, just bought their current home 3 yrs ago and have lost nearly 20k in value.

I mowed yards when I was a kid, which was decent money until I got a car. Had a paper route before mowing for awhile which paid just enough to buy free stuff. Then I started washing dishes at Boston Chicken, now Boston Market, when I was in HS. Had that job till I enlisted, sucks to think I could have retired in 2 years had I not made a few very costly decisions...

ANYWAY, where's the best place to buy some of those subframe spacers that are 270* with a chunk missing to slide them in rather then drop the entire subframe? IIRC RAZI just installed some.

I installed the Polyurethane ones (from FRsport), but if you want stiffer, PoweredByMax has aluminum ones for sale at a reasonable $50, similar to eBay prices I think.

WB Seto, glad to see you found the new thread. KAT forum owns anyway ;)

The old threads get archived once they hit a high number of pages. Something about the search function yada yada :chuckle:

^Dilaudid works wonders, until it wears off. Never had it (hope I never need it), but most patients love it, unless it makes them itch. Glad she's still alive though. That Escalade has about 2000 lbs or so on her Grand Am.

Im very glad she's alive. She's on perkaset seems to be doing pretty well. Hell she broke her femur, doesn't get any more painful than that.
she's doing well though she's moving to rehab tomorrow.

Sorry for changing the topic from WD's perverted personality, but I need some advice!

I have a spare ka on a stand ready to go to the machine shop, $400 is what the machine work is going to cost. I don't trust myself, so I'm going to have the shop assemble the bottom end while it's there, that's easily another $300 dollars. I just got offered a built ka for 1k, it includes JE pistons, Eagle rods, ARP everything, Cometic HG, decked head and block, fresh valve seals, and 550cc injectors. Here's the catch - it's been sitting for 2 years. Do I sell all the stuff I have to rebuild my KA and buy the built one, or don't worry about it and continue my "stock" build.

If you trust the person you're buying the motor from, I'd go with it and keep your current block as back-up to rebuild in case this one is bad. Just make sure you compression & leak down test the built motor first. I mean some of these SRs have been sitting in yards for a lot longer than 2 yrs. I would also treat the motor as a fresh rebuild. You'll want to assume that the rings have not seated, change the oil soon and frequently (at 100 and 1000 miles), maybe even use a break in motor oil. Things like that. Before you test the comp and leak down, ask the owner if he ever ran it before it sat, and for how long/how many miles. If the rings haven't seated, you're going to get lower comp #'s. See if they have any documentation to prove that the parts are in the motor too. If you have any qualms with the motor, just rebuild your own.

Buying used anything is a crap shoot. Where has it been sitting etc? I've seen real nice stuff turn to crap outside.

It's been sitting in an engine bay fully hooked up. Car drove 10 miles and ha some idle time on it, the guy was breaking it in before he got stationed in Korea and never came back for it. His friend (guy I know) is selling it for him. It still cranks but doesn't have the wiring harness hooked up so it doesn't run, but I can bring a compression tester to see what the compression is like. It's had oil in it so it hasn't been sitting dry, and the fact that it's all still hooked up means that moisture can't really get inside. Guy I know is the one who helped put it together, so he knows what's inside of it.
