Can't you just put connectors on the cut wire and just reconnect them when you need it to be back to stock condition for the winter or any other reason? Or, install a switch to go back and forth between the settings?

I just tried to do this today and my lights are doing the uneven thing too. Old pop-up motors I guess. Time to cross this one of my list.

I dont see why you guys who want sleepy eyes dont just get the pivot controller. In my opinion i think this is the most effective way to get that look. The controller was developed specifically for pop-up head lights... you cant argue with that...

good idea actually....just pull that wire out of the connector and put a little female crimp on the end, and hook it up in the winter *ponders on doing the mod*

emperor, please stop and think before you say that. The PIVOT controller does the exact same thing. If you read the instructions for the controller, you have to turn on your headlights, then turn them off. When they go down, they will stop at the specified height that you set it at on the controller.

Now think, sure, it may be more PRECISE on how high or low you want the headlights - but still, you can do the SAME exact thing, for free, and don't have to install anything. Just cut a wire, press the button in and out until the desired height is accomplished.

like Poatree said, free is better than not free. Unless you've got the money to spend on 40 dollar air fresheners and in this case, the Pivot controller, then be my guest.

on another note, my avatar of Misato always makes me look like I'm yelling when I'm not. LOL

i just did sleepy eyes this morning on my 240, i just disconected the power to the motors and readjusted them manually. is there any adverse side affect to leaving them like that. frankly i don't care becuase i get pulled over enough as it is, in my 1990 FORD ESCORT, go dearborne, yeah right. i''d rather looks sexy doing it

hell yeah it's sexy. no side affect leaving them sleepy eye. the sleepy eye position in reality is to improve cold air flow to the intake. The only side affect I could think of is someone accidentally (or purposely) sitting on the lights itself.

my friend is working on a mod that allows you to have the lights on while the sleepy eye is in effect.

Well, if anyone knows how to do this, post please!

With this mod, if you turn on the light when they are sleepy, they'll drop all the way down and then return to normal up position.

well, i don't think anyone wnats to keep on getting out of their car to do that. I know that there is a way to turn lights on while in sleepy eye mode, without getting out of yoru car to disable the motors. I beleive you have to cut a green wire? something like that.

disconnecting the motor can be a hassle

you tried adjusting the motors manually smokey? pop the hood and there are little black cylindirs next to the headlights. pop the top off and you can turn the knob to align them.

i guess if its a problem with your motor though, you'd have to either replace the slow motor (junkyard?) or manually adjust every time you set the sleepy eyes (which sort of defeats the purpose).

yeah gotta adjust mine, but when I do it manually then it evens out until I turn my lights on, the one I didnt adjust goes up fine but the other one will go up and back down however much I adjusted it earlier.

hmmm i havent done this mod myself but i manually adjusted them and drove around and i like the look, however, i ran into a possible snag. i have an alarm system and it flashes the parking lights whenever it arms or disarms. this causes the lights to close if they're halfway. is cutting this special brown wire going to prevent that, or would i have to reset my sleepy eyes EVERY TIME i got in the car?

no wait it does prevent it cause my friend has a clifford alarm. It'll be fine when you cut it. Just remeber to re-adjust your lights back to normal.
