I'm in the same boat.

my lean mass is right around 205 so getting down to about 225 would have me around 10% body fat I think?

I'd probably add more mass in the process of losing fat though....I need to schedule an appointment to get my shoulder checked out this week.

For those runners out there... any suggestions on some new kicks? My Nike Shox are BEAT.
I suggest Newton Running.

If anyone wants to talk about forefoot running, let me know.

Anyone serious about tracking their running should also get one of these:

i have to run on a track. if i try just running alongside the road, people assume i'm running away from the po-po and try a citizen's arrest. it gets really annoying.

that's cause your brown homie...don't run outside...

I was coming home from a late night last friday morning and i had to park the car across the street and walk from there and i saw a cop car fly up and almost hit me and he's like "where you think your going this late?" i told him home, so he then proceeds to ask me where home was? so i pointed my finger about 40-50 feet away and said right there and his tone completely changed and he smiled and said have a goodnight....douchebag!

Did plyometrics yesterday from the p90x routine, my gluts are killing me! 1 hour of squats and standing jumps at about 170-190 BPM. "ITS THE MOTHER OF ALLLLLL X WORKOUTS!"

@fred, when I was on my running kick a few years back I went through a few brands of shoes, I would say asics and newbalance are the best running shoes i've used. if you want nice running shoes, be ready to drop some $$ though. its worth it, and YES, there is a HUGE difference between cheap, and quality running shoes. once you get a nice pair, you'll never skimp on it again.

@lou, ya I have a garmin heart/pedo, need to get that thing some new batteries. the wireless sync stuff is crazy, but i never actually set it up to record. always just used the heartrate for my routines.

PS: I didnt think this thread would turn out as well as it is, its that extra little bit that pushing my motivation to the next level. thanks guys.

Stats: 173 lbs, 5'11.

Me and my buddy are doing 2-a-days. Cardio in the morning typically, then a sealfit.com workout in the late afternoon. If we're not liking what they have to offer, we put together a workout routine based off of 3 different special ops training books we have.

It's pretty draining, but totally worth it.

If you don't want to bother with the book (but it's really useful) the workout is basically:
I'll get the book, it's cheap.Did you stick to a specific diet and did you use any supplements?

5-6 meals a day of lean meats, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, spinach, V8 juice. On Saturdays I ate whatever I wanted.

I took protein, fish oil, and flax seeds.

And to everyone: write your s*** down. 2 weeks ago I got back into the habit of bring a log with my workout plan to the gym, and dammit working out without it is a waste of time.

Good on ya, gal.

But keep in mind, there's a HUGE disparity between what we (men) find attractive and what most women perceive to be attractive (in themselves).

Most women simply do NOT "get it". And it's a bummer, because we're not THAT hard to please. Don't get TOO crazy with this, and if Ry will agree to be honest with you, ASK him what he thinks.

I'm gonna interject here, since I'll be kinda "tagging along" in this endeavor, if only vicariously (I'll be getting in some more cardio and maybe eating a little healthier)....

99% of the women in America WISH they looked like Bex at 35 years old. She's already got a flat stomach, cute little backside, slim waist, and pretty decent muscle tone - So, while I'll support her in whatever she does, I'm making a public point that it's all for her - Not me.

She drives me crazy JUST the way she is.

Good luck, everyone!

x10

My girl is gorgeous and I love everything about her but will completely support her in whatever makes her happy, including helping her reach whatever fitness goals she wants. Even if they aren't my ideals.

We really don't have a good idea of what the opposite sex finds attractive.

I need to stop drinking soda and eating fast food. That will help a TON.

Right now, I'm sitting at 5'10" and 175. Trying to get to about 190ish. Going to the gym every day.

I started taking creatine but didn't like it at all so laid off.

Thanks, love!

I just want to get healthy. There's a big difference between being thin and being fit, and my goal is to be healthy and fit. That's why I'm not obsessed with a number. If I can get toned up and strong and not lose a single pound, I'm fine with that.

Wk 1 / Day 2

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and whole wheat pancakes with bananas, fresh strawberries and pecans. Low cal butter and sugar free syrup. Coffee.

Supper: Cube steak and a salad. Low-fat milk to drink.

Late night snack: A bowl of Raisin Bran Crunch with a banana cut up in it.

On a side note, the last bloodwork I had done said I need to start watching my sodium. That really surprised me because I very seldom put salt on anything. However, I never realized how much sodium is in things you would never suspect until I started reading nutrition labels. UGH.

This isn't simply going to be a diet, this is the beginning a complete lifestyle change. I don't mind it though. I have a lot of things left on my to-do list. Time to get busy.

Ok, add me to the list. I started on 1/4/10, so I've been at this for about 6 weeks now. I'm 5'10" and my starting weight was 232. I'm a fat a**.

I'm at 220 as of tonight, but I was down to 218 last week. Superbowl didn't help. I've completely changed my diet. I haven't had anything fried since new year's. I also haven't had any beef since new years with the exception of a few slices of pizza week or so ago. I've also had no soda except for a few on the weekends (mixed with some alcohol....my weakness) the last couple weeks. In addition, I started eating breakfast every day and taking vitamin C tablets once a day. Breakfast usually consists of a fruit, yogurt, 8oz glass of juice (V8 or some type of non-concentrate juice) and maybe a granola bar.

Exercise has been a treadmill run increasing intensity every day. I started out at 20 [email protected] mph. I'm now at 23 [email protected] mph.

My goal is 200 by Carlisle, 180 by SEMA, and to be able to run a 5K at some point this summer. I think that's very reasonable without killing myself doing it.

I don't think I can give up all the crappy food I eat. Stuff like,

-fast food-soda-chips/snacks-fried stuff-frozen dinners

And a bunch of other stuff.... But I need to gain weight. I mean, will eating healthier foods with the same amount of calories help me gain weight faster?
