i feel like some people ( this includes me, how do you think i came to this realization!? LOL ) put too much emphasis on equipment etc. you buy all this equipment and gear to make it all easier or better, but the reality is once the novelty of buying that new crap fades, so does your desire to continue to work out.
what i learned? start out basic. if you are just starting to try to get into shape or build muscle, dont go buy a bowflex, or some other $$$$ piece of equipment, get yourself a pullup bar and a few dumbells, if you can produce results with those, then MAYBE you should consider getting further into the equipment world.
I used to spend 2 hours a day at the gym in college (not being lazy in there either, i wasn a social gym person, i went to do work) and i can honestly say, I get a better work out now with a pullup bar and a couple freeweights then i ever did in that gym.
i've officially lost any structure to this post now, i'm rambling, but ya, simple and basic is better, all the time.
