I haven't worked on the car in a while. Tonight a got a bit done. I connected the stock fuel rail and injectors. I was told to do this for the inital start up. It has been done. I also got my throttle body gasket and installed that. I sodered ends to a 4 gauge wire and connected my starter power. Then I connected the blue wire to the button. I didn't run it throug the ECU sense I was told I dont have to. Tomarrow hopefully will be the alternator and the fuel pump. I need to find out what wire is for what that comes off the fuel pump.

GONA START HER SOON!

Here is part of the dash. You can see two switches hanging out from my HVAC. I am going to make another metal template and have 3 switches. They will all be kill switches. fuel kill, spark kill, ECU kill.
Image

Here is the cluster f*** of the wires under my passenger side dash. It will be cleaned up when its done.

Well I have the fuel wired up and the coil wire up. All that is left is I need to run power to the MAF and the ECU. I spent all night looking at the FSM wireing diagram.

1. I dont see power running to the MAF so I am unsure on what to splice the power into.

2. Im unsure at how to attack where to wire power to the ECU. I spent a long time going through every single wire I am not running and it seems fine. So what on the ECU do I connect to power?!

I spent a long time going through my ECU and I went through the diagram and wrote down everything I am not useing. Think it seems fine?

102 - P - Paircsolenoid Valve
105 - LG - EGRcsolenoid
113 - SB - R/W - IACV-AAC Valve
2 - Y/R - Tachometer
4 - R/B - ECCS Relay
7 - G/B - Data Link Connector For Consult
8 - R/L - Y - EGR Temperature Sensor
9 - OR/L -Condenser Fan Relay
11 - G/Y - Air Conditioner Relay
14 - G/W - Data Link Connector For Consult
15 - G - Data Link Connector For Consult
18 - L/OR - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
24 - R - "I6" (Combination Meter) (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) *WD*
"I5" (Combination Meter) (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) *EW*
25 - G/Y - S.C.V. Control Solenoid Valve
32 - Y/G -"I6" (Combination Meter) (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) *WD*
"I5" (Combination Meter) (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) *EW*
33 - Y/L - 5th Position Switch
34 - OR - Ignition Switch -B/Y-
35 - G/OR - A/T Control Unit - Neutral Postion Switch
41 - L/O - Thermo Control Amplifer
42 - Y/R - 4th Postion Switch
43 - BR - Power Steering Oil Pressure Sensor
44 - G/Y - Rear Window Defroster Relay
45 - G/L - Ambient Switch

I dont think I need any of these. Thise is what I have cut out.

The number one question is what do I need to wire power to the ECU. Once this is done I think I can start my car.

Ok, so Matt and his buddy came up and we went through my wireing with a fine tooth comb. Everything is good. Everything has power that needs it. All the grounds are there. I have fuel, and I have spark. BUT THE CAR WONT START! When I push the start button it cranks and cranks but it doesnt start. It doesnt even cough. I do have a Z32 MAF that its not tuned for yet, but that wouldnt stop it from starting, that would just make it run like s***. I put a different ECU in to check if it was my Nistune base map, didn't make a difference. The only thing I could see it being is timeing. Nothing is hitting so I think my cams and crank are fine. I think my Distributor might be off. I dont know. We put the engine to TDC (which I believe is the second to the left dash) and aligned the dots on the distributor and put it in. Im wondering if it could be 180 off and I need to spin it all and put it back in. I dont know. I just want it to start!

This is a pic I posted before. I traced the dash onto cardboard. Here I checked to see if it fits.
Image

Today I traced the cardboard onto steal and made my gauge cluster template. I still need to cut out the gauge holes but the template fits well.
Image

Tomarrow I plan to finish the cluster and another switch panel. I also hope to make a bracket to keep the sunroof down. Then I have a couple more things to take care of before I go to ILL Garage on friday.

Today was a productive day. Packed up yestarday.
Image

Took the car to ILL Garage today
Image

Got my blast pipes on with alot of custom work to make it sit high up. Also alot of work to make my down pipe fit. Then an 02 port so I can connect my wideband
Thanks alot Kevin, you did an amazing job.
Image

Just an under shot of the car.
Image

At the end of the day had to leave it there
Image

So it turns out I was right. 3 of my 4 stock injectors were bad. Timeing and everything was spot on. It didnt start at home because of the bad injectors. It didnt start at ILL Garage because of my EMS was fried and wasnt sending a signal to my injectors telling them to fire. Put a stock ECU in and the car fired right up. She sounds so nice. Left the car there cause they are gona fix the EMS and tune her. Then I can pick her up and she is mostly done!

BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE AT ILL GARAGE. YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME AND DO AWSOME WORK!

Yea its gona get caged. It was sapose to be caged already, but money is a HUGE factor right now. Im just trying to get the car driveable so I can enjoy it some this year. This winter It will get a full 6pt cage with doorbars. I will also get better wheels and OEM Silvia aero. Next summer this thing will be HOT!

So, I have video of the car starting and running. It doesnt run well, timeing might be off a tooth, I need to put a couple sensors back in, my BOV wont shut, the car wont idel unless you keep your foot on the gas.... yea, I suck...

Im going back monday to wire some s*** back in. I will post a video of it running some day.

ILL Garage rocks though. They have been helping ALOT, and I cant thank them enough. Excellent shop to go through guys.

So, I have a question since you did the front swap. I just got mine from my importer and the brackets I have are matching. They arent opposing like I would think they should be to mount on opposite sides. Is that ok or do I need to email my supplier for a replacement?

Brandon- Yeah, it freaked me out too when I got it, but the left and right headlight bracket are the same. It works.

I forgot to post this pic. Here is my dash finished-ish. Its not bolted in, but its made. The center panel has the Master kill switch and the push button start. It also has all the light switches. The small panel I made with the 4 switches where the stock air vent goes. They are all individual kill switches. I have a fuel kill, spark kill, ECU kill, and Electric fan. Then my gauge cluster is perfectly spaced out and fits well. I am very happy how it turned out.

I also have a video of the car running, but Im not sure how to post it. I've never posted video before.

Thanks guys. I was down on saturday for a bit. The car runs and drives pretty smooth. I took it for a spin around the block and did a couple donuts. I hope to bring the car back this week. I still have a leak on my intake mani though.

I cannot thank all the guys at ILL Garage enough. They do amazing work and are great guys and I recomend them to anyone!

Hey guys. Thanks for the comments :)

This is she, getting all hooked up on the dyno before s*** hit the fan.
Image

Here is the only current pic I have of the car in my garage. I only took this cause I was showing my buddy the new lighting I hung in my garage. I hung 4 of these 3' light fixtures.
Image

Plans thus far are get the turbo rebuilt with Garret internals when tax returns come. I am also getting a HKS BOV and new 650cc fuel injectors. Then back to Chicago for tunning. I hope in the end I have money for a cage. The shop is waiting for me, I just need the money. I am getting a nice full cage. I also have to install my Hydro ebrake and sword shiftknob. When all is said and done, the car will be dropped another inch or 2.

See, im a stickler for doing things right the first time and looking perfect, that being said. i think the engine could use some more color to it.

Other than that, its pretty mind boggling to see someone take the car from a complete pile, and make it 100x better. You seem to have spared no expense, nor cut corners to be spoken of. It looks great, and you seem to have the support of tons of friends, here in the south there are almost ZERO 240 drivers. I have the only running sr20 car, and 1 of 3 in the greater Jackson,MS area. Which sucks, i have to drive 3 hours just to get a tune. its awesome to see that car in it state.

Very much so kudos to you.

S13AL - Yes. I have been angry lately because I dont have any money to finsih this car, or fix my DD. I love my B5 Audi, but holy s*** does she keep brakeing and costing me money. I was planning to sell both my cars and get a Z33. I still might, but I am going to finish her and drift the snot out of her this season.

Ghettopoptart - Thanks for the kudos. I did what I could with the money I had. If I had more money, there would have been things I would have done differently. I like to help my friends, and I like it when my friends help me. Makes things easier on everyone. There are 240's around here, but the biggest problem I find with car guys, is there are way more talkers than do'ers. In the begining I was optimistic. Now im just a realist and ignore most people. I keep trying to learn more and more so my next car will be done with no help.

I have 100% finished the wiring in the rear of the car. Most of the center wiring is redone and looking good. I will finish the wiring in the next week or two. I am going to run N/A for a little while so I can drift and have fun with the car. Turbo will be put back on when I have money. I removed the turbo last week, and another buddy of mine came over and helped me make a custom "Turbo Delete Pipe" to remove the turbo. I am still using a turbo mani, and down pipe. I just made a pipe to replace the turbo. This is finished. Next I am putting the stock fuel rail and injectors back in. The ECU has been sent out to iLL Garage to be reflashed. Hopefully I can drive the car around in the next month.

First Dday of the year is Easter Sunday, I hope to be ready for it.

Here is a small update. My friend and I made a "Turbo Delete" pipe. I sold my header when I went turbo, so the cheapest/fastest way to get me up and running was to make a pipe to connect my turbo mani, to my down pipe. Otherwise I would have to buy a header, and redo half of my exhaust to make it fit. Also, when I have the money to get my turbo rebuilt, instead of redoing the exhaust again, I just need to pull out this one pipe, and slip the turbo back in.

Turbo removed.
Image

Took the gaskets and traced them onto 1/8" steel. Than cut it out with an angel grinder.
Image

Than used some extra pipeing I had laying around and tak welded it to mock it up.
Image

When everything was lined up nice, we finished welding everything. My friend hasnt welded in a while, so he said he isnt proud of the welds, but it will work. We checked for holes and it seems good. Than I drilled the hole out and welded in my O2 bung. Everything seemed good enough. Its only temperary.
Image

Here it is installed.
Image

Than Ryan told me that the thin flanges would rip off, so he helped me with some new flanges, and I cut off my old ones, and welded new ones on. I forgot to take an out of car pic, but here it is fully installed with gaskets.
Image

Thanks for the help Ryan.

I also did a little wiring. I redid some of the wiring in the back of the car. It is finished. I redid all of the relays and I redid the crimp fittings. After I put on a new crimp fitting, I put a dot of soder on the end, so even with the car banging around, the wires cant wiggle lose.

here is part of my mess. I was trying to figure out where to start.
Image

New relay connections.
Image

Finished product
Image

Redid them all
Image

I still have al lot to do, but its getting there. My ECU is at iLL Garage, putting my fuel maps back to stock. I am trying to get the motor to run N/A so I can drift ASAP!

Put new OEM fuel injectors in my old fuel rail.
Image

Removing my aftermarket fuel system.
Image

And installed OEM fuel rail with new injectors in it. I sodered the lines back to the harness.
Image

All that I have left
-Wait for my ECU to return from iLL Garage
-finish engine bay wire tuck
-finish cleaning wiring under dash
-wire up gauges
-wire up windows
-remove IC pipeing and FMIC
-Make intake
-block oil and coolant lines that went to the turbo
-figure out what to do with my oil pan
-weld in Hydro Ebrake and splice into rear brake line
-finish sealing sunroof
-make heat sheild between turbo manifold and BMC
-alignment

Thats not too long of a list. A lot of little things.
