I purchased an OEM replica kit. I need to pain it yet.

What it looks like on the previous owners car.

I also bought black vinyl with metallic flake. I'm going to wrap the cage and dash panels with it. I forgot to take a picture of the roll, but here is a sample of it.
Image

More pictures to come when I mount them. Also, I will be drifting at Road America on June 9th! I can't wait!!!!

Mounting up the kit. I will take it back off and paint it.

I may have set a record for cracking a new kit. I had to drive onto wood to get a jack under my car. When I backed off the wood, it hit my skirt and cracked it : (

Yea, I have a front lip. I just ran out of time on Sunday. I fixed my father-in-law's civic, Helped slam my buddies RSX. Then on to my car. Not enough day light. Plus I need to reshape the lip a little. I have a lot to do this week to be ready to drift at Road America this weekend!

I started to wrap my cage in the vinyl. So... I suck at wrapping vinyl.

I will finish up the cage tonight. It looks great... from 10 feet away.

My fiance helped me out last night. She is wayyyyyyy better at the vinyl than I am. Her side looks perfect, while mine looks like art time in kindergarten.

I started to do my dash panels

In crappy news, my car started to exude a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust. That really makes me angry. I'm assuming I'm burning oil somehow. I don't understand how a fully built, brand new engine does this. I'm hoping the engine lasts through drifting this weekend and next week I can talk to the machine shop.

I have a lot of respect for iLL Garage, so I put this sticker on to show my support.

My drift event stickers. I have one more on now. I am also missing a couple from over the years. Oh well.

Front lip is on.

I had a drift event on sunday. The car was smoking, but she ran good all day. Love this car!

Than this guy got in line. I thought he was joking.

I was wrong, and it was epic

Now I have to figure out my burning oil issue. I hope it's something stupid simple, but it usually never is.

Thanks. I also love the look.

The day was great. Weather was nice. I love that track. Really good turn out of drivers. A lot of talent. I was very inconsistent. I had some perfect runs, and some totally terrible runs. Other than BP snapping an axle and a corolla spinning a rod bearing, everyone else car worked great. I will post up some videos soon.

In related news, I checked the turbo last night and I think its fine. So I think the oil burning is coming from inside my motor. That sucks. I think I have to take it out again, but I'm going to call the machine shop first.

So per my luck

Image
Image

Pulled the motor and took it back to the machine shop. Turns out they put the wrong piston rings in and my rings are bad, my pistons and cylinder walls are scoffed. They are going to redo the entire bottom end for free. The other problem is that ALL of my exhaust valve guides blew out. They won't take fault for it. We are still talking about it. They are going to bore over all of my guides and install brass inserts.

I won't make the next drift event because of this, and I was really looking forward to ClubFR Jam. In the mean time I helped convert my buddies stage 5 WRX to RWD so he can start drifting. Fun times ahead.

So its been a while. Turns out the machine shop made mistakes and that's why my engine went bad so soon. All my valve guides blew out, my valves were junk, my piston rings went bad, and my pistons and cylinder walls were scratched. But they redid it all for free so I'm a happy camper. I got my engine back last week but didn't have the time to install it. I recently bought a wink mirror. This weekend I will put in the engine, install the wink mirror, and finally wire up my windows. Also, I am reinstalling my glove box and I am going to mount my fuse boxes into it for easy access. I am also looking into getting different springs for my coilovers so I can get another inch lower. Lastly I will be making a skid plate under my oil pan to save me from inevitable future damage. Updates will come along with pictures.

Lastly... The ricer in me kind of wants to wire up red neon under the car. I know its stupid and out of style, but the child in me wants it. It will most likely happen.

Another boring picture-less update. I installed the engine and its till burning. I am not sure if it is coolant or oil yet. I will find out. I suspect the head was built wrong by the machine shop. I will remove the engine again... and bring it to iLL Garage... as I should have done in the first place.

Awesome build, man! Very clean work. Sux you keep having those problems with the engine. Hope your guys can get it fixed proper.

Ya know, it don't matter what car you drive or how it looks or whatever, there will always be someone with something smart to say about someone else's rig. So may as well do what *you* like. All that matters is whether you're happy with your own car. Neons, GT wings, lambo doors, roof hood door trunk scoops, whatever - as long as it's done clean and not a hack job, I see "riced" as no different than any other aestheitc style. I say do it!

Damn man, that sucks about the engine having to come out again.

Are you sure it isn't just old s*** all over the inside of the exhaust that is just now burning off?

Yea. I have driven around town for a total of 2 hours. It burns bad. Makes a huge wall of smoke behind me. It only smokes under load. I have a friend that has the same turbo as me. He is shipping me the turbo so I can slap it on and definitively prove that its not the turbo, and that the engine was in fact built wrong again. I really wanted to go drift in Oct, but if my engine is f***, looks like my season is done.

I have decided that I am going with red neon for sure.

Lastly I think I'm going 5 lug. I am going to trade all 8 of my wheels for 4 miro 368 18x10 +18 and a full 5 lug swap. My end game dream is to go full wide body with some Work VS-KF. Doing this trade isn't my dream, but it gets me a little closer.

So I removed my turbo to swap in the new one.
Image

My turbo met his twin.
Image

Before I reinstalled everything I noticed burnt, and unburnt oil in cylinder 4 exhaust port. I think that makes it pretty clear that it is cylinder 4 that is f*** up. Because there is unburnt oil in the cylinder, I assume an exhaust guide or seal is bad and oil is just dripping into the exhaust port.

On a side note I got to drive my buddies FR-S and I have to say I like it. Maybe in the future....

[email protected] please contact me thru my email greatly appreciate it

CJH wrote:So, I finally got my car running. But it is running super rich. My wideband says its at 10. Its blowing alot of smoke. When I had the turbo on i didn't have this issue. Now its N/A.

Info:
93 KA24DE
Motor is stock
Cometic head gasket
ARP head studs
All new gaskets everywhere
Ported intake mani
Emissions removed (EGR and everything)
Turbo mani with "turbo delete pipe" and full 3" straight pipe. No cat/resonater/muffler
Walbro 255 fuel pump
300zx TT fuel filter
stock fuel rail with stock injectors with stock FPR
All stock sensors
stock ECU

Dont know if there is anything else to list. One idea I got from talking with iLL Garage is a bad O2 sensor. Anyone else have any idea?

So I sold my daily.
Image

Flew from WI to GA and bought another S13
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

It's a Black, manual 92 S13. It's rust free. The lady lied her a** off over the phone. The car has many issues, but I couldn't turn back after flying half way across the country. Well, I survived my 14hr drive home and started fixing the car.

Now I have two black S13's. All I need is a black vert and I have the whole family.
Image

The stupid car only started after 10min of d!ck around with the steering wheel. You had to slowly turn it from side to side trying to start it till you found the sweet spot. I fixed that the day i got home.
Image

There was some major suspension play. I didn't waste my time figuring it out. I just replaced the ball joints and inner/outter tie rods.
Image

Lastly she ran like crap, but after a tune up and replacing one injector that was stuck open she now runs to her full potential. There are still several small issues, but I will slowly fix them over time. The only "major" issue the car still has is it leaks power steering fluid.

I ended up giving the car some character.
Image

The plans for this car goes as fallows. I want this to be a fun, comfortable daily. I plan to keep it kind of simple. I will replace the carpet with some nice new black carpet. I will replace the seats with something newer and a bit sportier. I also plan to get coilovers and give her a slight drop. I want a VLSD that i shim. And lastly if there is money I want to do an SR swap and an OEM type X kit. This is a maybe. I want to be capable of drifting, but still be comfortable. None of this will happen until the coupe is done and running 100%.

You'll never guess.... the engine is out again.
Image

iLL Garage tore it apart and found coolant in my cylinders. Everything so far looks fine, except the previous machine shop didn't torque my head down all the way. So hopefully that's my only problem, although I doubt it. Still waiting to hear back about my head.

So I've been playing with my hatch a bit. I bought a katana for the drift car, but I threw it in the hatch to see how it feels.
Image

I cut the blade off and had a friend mill an AL cylinder. I pinched the blade inside and tapped it to screw onto the stock shifter. This will not be staying in the hatch, but I was testing it. Furthermore, a custom shift boot will be made to hide the AL cylinder.
Image
Image

Lastly I also bought a fake Nardi wheel. I was going to get a real one, and decided I had better things to spend my money on. I bought legit version select floor mats hand made by Touge Factory. I got a new shift boot. I also removed the fabric from the doors. I bought S14 seat belts, but they aren't in yet. I am currently in discussions with a guy about buying cloth Z33 seats. I am also looking into buying a Panasonic appradio. We will see where things go from here. Car runs like a champ.

Normally I'm not a big fan of absurdly large shifter knobs, but I approve of a katana hilt.

So the engine was pulled again

Then I had it built by iLL Garage. Got it back.

Install time. I've done this a few hundred times so it doesn't take so long anymore.

Car didn't start so I packed it up and took it to iLL Garage

Sat next to my friends drift car for a few days first

Looking back, its come a long way
Image

I had my artistic friend make me a drift team sticker. Had another drift friend print it for me. Turned out great. I'm a happy fuzzy guy, but I like to do crazy demonic things.
Image
Image

I also installed an AppRadio in the daily. I switch to my permanent shift knob. All the interior needs to be finished is I am going to installed a digital climate control, and some new seats.
Image

iLL Garage has my car and I will get it back when it works. It runs now, it's just getting a new tune at 20psi. I think I will get somewhere between 350-400whp.

I did sign up for drifting at No Star Bash at the end of June, so I need my baby back! I'd also like to make it to a Columbus drift event at slide society first to fix any kinks my setup my have.

I had to install some things with the timing chain at iLL Garage and then it ran smoothly.

I'm happy to be driving my baby again.

Put her back on the dyno. I was at 8 psi, I wanted to go to 20. Well apparently there are only two springs in my boost controller that you can get, and I have the wrong one. Fully closed I was only at 11psi. Not bad power though.

I liked the interior.

Campfire over my buddies diff

All loaded up for No Star Bash.

Then was having fun drifting.

And then I wasn't having fun...

Car is f*** up but fixable. It will be fixed, but not until next year.

DAMN that sucks!!!
332hp at 11psi is no joke though! Sucks you had so many issues with your suppliers/vendors/builders.

Did you get any injuries from hitting the wall so hard?

Yea, it really sucks I crashed and I've had a lot of bad luck getting my car ready.

Only injury was a broken heart. I took proper safety precautions. But I did hit that wall hard.

Yea, we got the idea for the diff pic and had to do it while welding his diff.
