You can view all of my stats by clicking on my Fuelly link in my signature.

I base my %city driving by using the avg. speed monitor on the vehicle information display.

Avg speed of 25 mph = 80% city for me. Each unit change for mph = a 5% change for city driving.

EX: an avg speed of 27 mph is 70% city. Avg. speed of 22 mph is 95% city.

There might be slight discrepancies in my numbers because the smart phone app is harder to set the % slider, but every so often I go in and clean them up. It is not an exact science, but it is a model that is close enough based on my driving habits.

2015 fwd - 4 tanks so far
seems to be 27 around town, 28-29 on the highway at 75-80 mph.
Appears that if I go a steady 60 mph then the mileage jumps up to 30+

My mileages are with a pencil and paper versus the computer numbers.

Took my brand new 2015 SL Fwd for its first highway drive. Left the house with only 30 miles on the odometer. Reset the mpg counter. Returned home with 130 miles on the odometer. Mpg showed 33.1. Not bad! I hit about 2 miles of stop and go on the highway and about 15 of the miles were in the city. I was averaging about 65 mph on the highway. This is so much better then my normal highway trip vehicle a 2003 Ford expedition 4x4 with a 5.4 V-8 that gets about 12-14 mpg.

Just got back from a trip to Yosemite National Park. Total mileage 210 miles (30MPG) most miles were mountain, 15 city/40 hwy. Topped off before and after trip, used 7 gal. Temp. was low 62 degrees F and high of 85 degrees F. New 2015 rogue SV FWD, two adults. Using Costco regular gas. Used ECO mode to and back from the mountain driving. Best mileage so far on trip counter to Pismo beach Ca. from Clovis, Ca. total miles 340, hills, city and hwy is 35 mpg using ECO mode, except in the hills.Very pleased with mileage.

2015 Nissan Rogue SV FWD. Just turned 1400 miles. Avg 28.9 mostly in town. The best mpg I have gotten on highway is 37.8 mpg. Very happy with those numbers.

I have about 1500 miles on my 2015 rogue sl AWD . I mostly drive within the city in eco mode. I have been seeing average mileage around 21mpg (in the dash monitor) and real mileage of 19.5 - 20 mpg (based on actual consumption). I have been quite easy on the gas pedal and AC. On freeways when I have the cruise control on, I actually see mpg around 35 (dash monitor).
ac
Why is the city mpg so low with or without eco mode? I was hoping it would actually improve after break in.

How has your experience been?

your thread title doesnt match the content. your title asks about proper break-in times/mileages/etc. your content is asking an MPG question.

please use the search, and title your threads appropriately.

Same, 2015 Rogue SL, ~750 miles. 85% city I get 21.1 on the dash monitor.

2013 Rogue S. Stock except for K&N air filter. Mobil 1 5-30w. I've been tracking my mileage on Fuelly since we bought it a year and a half ago. I also note the MPG recorded by the car (data cleared every fill up). The MPG on the car reads an average of 3.57% higher than actual. Curious if anyone else sees a significant delta between the gauge and actual. This is for all you other data junkies out there...

I only have 1200 miles on my 2015 Rogue, so I've just now reached the end of the break in period. On a recent 212 mile round trip to Northern Arizona the MPG gauge showed 27.2 MPG, but my calculation after filling up was 25.98 MPG. We went from an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level to 5,000 feet above, so lots of hills and curves. I wasn't concerned about MPG so I pushed it hard on the drive (75 MPH). Having said that, the MPG gauge being off by only 3-4% isn't that bad.

This has been discussed previously. Can't remember the exact thread. Anyway, it was an issue that bugged a lot of us first gen owners, and it's not gotten any better on the 2nd gen. The short answer is you just learn to live with it.

Agreed, Rogue One. I searched but didn't find anything. Sorry if it's redundant. It's not an issue for me, I just like diving into data sometimes.

FWIW The 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander I owned for 7 years before trading it in for my Rogue also showed a slightly higher MPG on it's display than what I calculated at a fill up. As was previously stated it's annoying, but like a lot of other things in life you learn to live with it...

My 2014 displayed a similar figure (37.6) after some highway driving, but I have found the built-in mileage calculator is often off by several miles per gallon. Still, with some careful application of throttle and some hypermiling tricks, I can pull off a combined 32-33mpg on a city/highway cycle. Highway driving alone typically yields 35mpg.

Last winter definitely saw lower mileage, likely due to the reformulation of gasoline during the winter months and the cold weather.

Still love the fantastic gas mileage on my Rogue.

That's an AVERAGE, not maximum. They try to give the best estimate of what to expect, and tend to stay on the conservative side, otherwise you'd have people crying foul because their vehicle didn't match those numbers. I've got an '02 Buick LeSabre that manages to get in excess of 40mpg at highway cursing speed, but those kinds of numbers aren't hinted at in the handbook.

Instruments and controls 2-19
1. Current fuel consumption and average
fuel consumption (MPG, l (liter) /100km or
km/l)

I just bought a Rogue and took it for over a hundred miles on the freeway with no traffic and no braking on Christmas Eve. I resetted the avg mpg counter several times to confirm. I also tried using cruise control mode but no difference. The average mpg I've been getting is 25 to 26 mpg. The eco mode light was on but surprisingly it didn't make a difference on the freeway whether I was using eco or not.

The advertised fuel efficiency is 26 city and 33 highway. What are you guys getting? Is Nissan inflating the real numbers to mislead their customers? I really want to return the car now.

Welcome to NICO! Sorry to hear that you're unhappy with the mileage your car gets, but Nissan is not misleading it's customers.

did you see any increase on the mpg with the kn filter?.

Hi xtrailmty

Maybe 1/2 to 1 mpg on the Rogue attributed strictly to the air filter. Been using K&N air filters on every car I've had for the last 20 years. The primary benefit for me is they have better airflow and pay for themselves after a year or two (if you change your air filter every 12k or so).

I had a 93 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L for 10+ years prior to the Rogue and gained about 2-3 mpg on that thing just going to the K&N filter (got 21-22 on the hwy, which is a minor miracle. It had the aerodynamics of a large cardboard box).

I want to do your intake mod this Spring on my Rogue to see what that does. Have appreciated your thread here:

So I have noticed significant gas mileage change as amount of my highway driving is increased. I get 28.8 average on mixed driving and get 35 on highway with ac on. i used to get 26.8 average during winter driving so i am really happy about gas mileage on this car.

Managed to get 9.1L/100KM............so I am quite happy. Includes some expressway driving but mainly city....eco mode on which I found made little difference..........summertime temperatures (important) and driving as though you have all the time in the world.

I'm really wondering if it's just my car or if this is common. My Wife and I bought a new 2016 Rogue SV AWD. We've put about 9k miles on it now. The estimate MPG is 26/33.

We use ECO mode and do about 50/50 split of city/highway. Our actual MPG is more like 23 to 24mpg average. And that's with very very easy on the throttle usage, also using cruise control when possible with auto-climate control turned off. For example, on one of our latest 120+ mile trips (95% freeway) we averaged 25mpg using cruise control the majority of the time.

Is something wrong with our car or did Nissan more or less lie about the MPG ratings? How did they ever achieve the 26/33 mpg?

What irks me about it, is that my 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon (AWD and turbo'd) gets 25mpg average and I drive it hard, it's also rated for something like 18/26mpg. One of the main selling points of the Rogue was the MPG, which helped it win over some other options we were looking at. But now with 9k miles I figured the MPG would be looking a lot better. My dad has a 2015 Rogue SL and gets 28+ and he does not baby the throttle like we do on ours.

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with ours. Anyone else experience low MPG on their Rogue?
