I'm glad this came up again.

I switched jobs/commutes to work. I was doing a short 2 mile trip to work, and MPG were between 17 and 20mpg. I now have a 17miles highway drive, and MPG are between 27 and 33 depending on traffic and my driving speed. I've been as high as 34-35mpg if I am doing stricly flat highway, going at a steady pace.

Very pleased with the Rogue.

On my way to work, it shows 32.X pretty consistantly, on my way home from work 36.X consistantly. I have no doubts that going 70 on a somewhat flat hwy you would get the EPA 33

1,400 mile interstate trip including Eastern U.S. mountain ranges. I got at or about 26 MPG by calculating MPG the real way: using the trip odometer and a calculator after fill-up. I averaged 75 MPH and only slowed 5 or so MPH when travelling over more steep grades. I also had AC on all the time except on the steepest uphill grades.

Aside from MPG, I find the Rogue to be fairly comfortable for a long trip with almost sedan type handling. I've driven the same route with my Pathfinder and at times was wishing I was in the Rogue. For some reason I can never find that perfect seating position in my Pathfinder with x-way power seating while my daughter's Rogue has only 2 manual adjustments.

Wow, I'm lucky if I get 21MPG with mixed city and highway driving 9.5 Miles to/from work and I am very light on the pedal to keep the RPMs from going up too high. Perhaps that is my problem? I should push my Rogue a little harder? It has never been better than 27MPG though when I lived in the 'burbs of Chicago driving 32 Miles each way to/from work with 80% being highway driving. I'm a big guy, but still, I have never been thrilled with the fuel consumption on my Rogue. I'll be looking at a V6 powered engine when I buy my next vehicle.

I keep my RPMs below 2k and coast every chance i get. When getting on the highway i floor it to get to speed and let off. I drive between 30-45 MPH which seem to be a sweet spot for excellent MPGs on most Nissans that I have owned. I drive to work is 50/50 down/up hill drive, so I coast down to get speed to make it as far going back up. I use alot of hypermiling techniques.

I have not seen how it works yet but i think that nissan should offer that eco mode as an optional dealer installed accessory for the 2014 owners and replace that useless sport mode.

I really dont see any difference between the normal mode and sport, i wonder if the eco feature will be the same.

If you're not seeing a difference, try watching your tach.
The "Sport mode" button is designed to give the vehicle a livelier feel by adjusting the throttle settings and transmission shift points. Turns out, it's subtle but noticeable. The throttle definitely reacts more quickly to inputs, but it's not overly jumpy. As far as the transmission goes, the Rogue's CVT simulates gear changes to make it feel more natural, so in sport mode it merely changes its simulated shift points.

It's most noticeable when getting on the freeway under full throttle for an extended period of time. Like a standard automatic, the Rogue's CVT merely holds its simulated gears longer to wring the most out of the four-cylinder engine. It's actually quite effective as it gets up to highway speeds quickly.
The Eco mode is used to improve fuel economy. It's achieved by reducing how frequently the AC unit runs, and reduces horsepower.

That's interesting. I think I'll give it a try. My MO has been to be very easy when accelerating. Though, I sometimes feel that I'm staying in the 3-4 gear ratios longer than I should. Perhaps if I can get up to 4-5 gear ratios quickly, it will improve MPG?

I'm at 23.9mpg with 7k on the odometer. Most of my driving is on very hilly rural roads with an average speed of 40mph and almost no stops.

yea, i had a Bullydog on my truck and after months of research plus adjusting driving habits i improved MPGs. For example when accelerating your instant MPGs is in the teens or lower. The longer you stay in that range the worse your mpgs will turn out to be, so if your accelerating for a long period of time seems to do more damage than good.

When I drove the 2014 Juke It had 3 modes; Regular, sport and economy. My guess is eco mode turns off the turbo boost and adjusts the shift patterns. Not sure such changes could be installed as dealer options, I suspect it would need to be engineered into the entire vehicle system.

Hi Ivan. I think the Sport mode is great. It gives you a higher gear ratio for acceleration, but I use it primarily for engine braking when descending hills. If you turn the O/D off at hwy speeds you can hit 6k RPM. Way too high. The Sport mode seems to raise the gear ratio about 20% which works well for descending hills. I just wish they would have mounted the Sport switch on the shifter instead of the O/D switch. I have a 2013 and I assume the same configuration applies to 2015 (at least for the Sport mode issue).

On the 2014 (and probably 2015 too) the sport mode button is in a super annoying place basically by your left knee. I agree, would much rather have the sport mode button on the shifter and the O/D button somewhere else (or even not at all - really seems unnecessary since you can just use L gear for almost the same effect)

Agreed about the location. I usually have to look down to find the button. Not safe. So on the 2014+ is on the door armrest or something?

On the 2014 and 2015, it is in this spot.

I'd take that over the >2013 location. I'd like to see if the Sport and O/D switch locations can be traded.

I drove my new 2015 home yesterday. Put it in "ECO" and felt a lot more sluggish. Dealer said tries to keep RPMS below 2500. I did feel a difference driving around town with it on and off.

30.3 MPG confirmed on a 300 mile trip from Canada to Portland, OR. This was at 65-75+.

2013 S model (16" wheels). K&N air filter and Mobil 1 5/30.

Hey all,

I would have to find my receipt envelope to read specific fill-up calculations, but I was very impressed with my girlfriend's 2012 SL AWD on our diversion-some trip from central Texas to Seattle this summer. I find the calculator displayed on the dash to be off by no more than 5%, occasionally dead on.

Some ballpark figures:

Current driving (80:20 Hwy:City) - 25.5-26.0 mpg
Central Colorado (country roads at 10k ft) - 30+ mpg but no power
Northern California (mountain roads) - 21-22 mpg (at well over four flaming dollars a gallon, sheesh)
San Antonio to Big Bend Nat'l Park, TX - 20 mpg (averaging 85 mpg, topping 95, almost completely flat)

There was a stretch of I-70 west out of CO, very much downhill, where the indicator sat around 36 mpg for quite a number of minutes, and the total for that fill was 32ish mpg.

Bought my SV on Saturday. Today first fill up, 11.8 gallons 270 miles, that's 22.8 MPG of mix driving in 88 degrees. As of today very disappointed with fuel consumption, my 5200 pounds Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel does better and goes for 600 miles

In pure stop and go, on my 3 mile commute to work, I have generally been getting 15mpg to 19mpg. This is significantly less than EPA ratings. My 3 mile route has seven 4 way stops, 12 traffic lights and 4 levels of parkade. Perhaps the EPA city cycle includes more uninterrupted time on blvds, etc?

Wow that's awful!! I traded in my Prius C for the Rogue. The family is growing and the C is very small for 2 carseats in the back. $25 of fuel and the little car goes 400 miles. Anyway my wife loves the Rogue that's all that matters. I wish the EPA do some real car testing in real world with everything on!! I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel rated at 23/30. In the city it would be near 19 and in highway 32,and 23 combined of 70% city and 30% Highway. My best trip in the Rogue is 28.6 mostly Highway using the driving techniques for the Prius(pulse and glide). We'll see keep posting guys!!!!

Hello, I got the same numbers: 15.3 MPG in City, actually almost the same driving condition.
How's your MPG now?

Not sure if it deals with the distance driven. But in general, a cold start, the engine will have higher revs, since it tries to warm up? And with a 3 mile commute... Do (if you have them) the seat warmers even have time to warm you up?

So my gas mileage has increased to 27.5 in mostly city driving. Can you guys also post your tire pressure with your mpg.?

How your gas mileage increased? I have steady numbers for last month, it is only around 15-17 MPG in City.
