On my way to work, it shows 32.X pretty consistantly, on my way home from work 36.X consistantly. I have no doubts that going 70 on a somewhat flat hwy you would get the EPA 331019throw wrote:I'm glad this came up again.
I switched jobs/commutes to work. I was doing a short 2 mile trip to work, and MPG were between 17 and 20mpg. I now have a 17miles highway drive, and MPG are between 27 and 33 depending on traffic and my driving speed. I've been as high as 34-35mpg if I am doing stricly flat highway, going at a steady pace.
Very pleased with the Rogue.
The Eco mode is used to improve fuel economy. It's achieved by reducing how frequently the AC unit runs, and reduces horsepower. The "Sport mode" button is designed to give the vehicle a livelier feel by adjusting the throttle settings and transmission shift points. Turns out, it's subtle but noticeable. The throttle definitely reacts more quickly to inputs, but it's not overly jumpy. As far as the transmission goes, the Rogue's CVT simulates gear changes to make it feel more natural, so in sport mode it merely changes its simulated shift points.
It's most noticeable when getting on the freeway under full throttle for an extended period of time. Like a standard automatic, the Rogue's CVT merely holds its simulated gears longer to wring the most out of the four-cylinder engine. It's actually quite effective as it gets up to highway speeds quickly.
That's interesting. I think I'll give it a try. My MO has been to be very easy when accelerating. Though, I sometimes feel that I'm staying in the 3-4 gear ratios longer than I should. Perhaps if I can get up to 4-5 gear ratios quickly, it will improve MPG?JB'sRogue wrote:I keep my RPMs below 2k and coast every chance i get. When getting on the highway i floor it to get to speed and let off. I drive between 30-45 MPH which seem to be a sweet spot for excellent MPGs on most Nissans that I have owned. I drive to work is 50/50 down/up hill drive, so I coast down to get speed to make it as far going back up. I use alot of hypermiling techniques.
yea, i had a Bullydog on my truck and after months of research plus adjusting driving habits i improved MPGs. For example when accelerating your instant MPGs is in the teens or lower. The longer you stay in that range the worse your mpgs will turn out to be, so if your accelerating for a long period of time seems to do more damage than good.daltonvol wrote:That's interesting. Thats what i was getting on averaging till i hit the 10k mark. has improved alot sincetsumeone wrote:I'm at 23.9mpg with 7k on the odometer. Most of my driving is on very hilly rural roads with an average speed of 40mph and almost no stops.
Hi Ivan. I think the Sport mode is great. It gives you a higher gear ratio for acceleration, but I use it primarily for engine braking when descending hills. If you turn the O/D off at hwy speeds you can hit 6k RPM. Way too high. The Sport mode seems to raise the gear ratio about 20% which works well for descending hills. I just wish they would have mounted the Sport switch on the shifter instead of the O/D switch. I have a 2013 and I assume the same configuration applies to 2015 (at least for the Sport mode issue).ivan_2001ve wrote:I have not seen how it works yet but i think that nissan should offer that eco mode as an optional dealer installed accessory for the 2014 owners and replace that useless sport mode.
I really dont see any difference between the normal mode and sport, i wonder if the eco feature will be the same.
On the 2014 (and probably 2015 too) the sport mode button is in a super annoying place basically by your left knee. I agree, would much rather have the sport mode button on the shifter and the O/D button somewhere else (or even not at all - really seems unnecessary since you can just use L gear for almost the same effect)phmichel wrote:Hi Ivan. On the 2014 and 2015, it is in this spot.phmichel wrote:Agreed about the location. I usually have to look down to find the button. Not safe. So on the 2014+ is on the door armrest or something?

I'd take that over the >2013 location. I'd like to see if the Sport and O/D switch locations can be traded.tsumeone wrote:On the 2014 and 2015, it is in this spot.phmichel wrote:Agreed about the location. Wow that's awful!! I traded in my Prius C for the Rogue. The family is growing and the C is very small for 2 carseats in the back. $25 of fuel and the little car goes 400 miles. Anyway my wife loves the Rogue that's all that matters. I wish the EPA do some real car testing in real world with everything on!! I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel rated at 23/30. In the city it would be near 19 and in highway 32,and 23 combined of 70% city and 30% Highway. My best trip in the Rogue is 28.6 mostly Highway using the driving techniques for the Prius(pulse and glide). We'll see keep posting guys!!!!RyleyinSTL wrote:In pure stop and go, on my 3 mile commute to work, I have generally been getting 15mpg to 19mpg. This is significantly less than EPA ratings. Hello, I got the same numbers: 15.3 MPG in City, actually almost the same driving condition.RyleyinSTL wrote:In pure stop and go, on my 3 mile commute to work, I have generally been getting 15mpg to 19mpg.
