I think it's either me that doesn't still understand how the car's MPG computer works, or if the car's MPG is corrupt. Our 2016 Rogue SL has roughly 34k on it and it still shows 28.2 MPG. Most of the city roads here has a speed limit between 45 MPH to 50 MPH..We took the car multiple times to South Florida and was driving around the 70-75 MPG range, which should have increased the gas mileage. Granted, I don't use the ECO, but I use the SPORT mode frequently.
Do you reset everything when you fill up?

No I don't reset anything when I fill up. Should I be doing that every time? And if so, which ones in particular should I be resetting?

Having searched the forum and not finding an answer, can anyone tell me what the number indicates after the words "Fuel Economy" on the dash?

When we first bought the Rogue it said, "Fuel Economy 1". Now it says "Fuel Economy 2". Would this be in reference to trip settings?

I am pretty sure it goes towards the reference of Key Fob Driver 1 and Key Fob Driver 2. My 2016 Rogue SL doesn't show this at all, so this is a new feature that Nissan added to the Rogue for 2017, as it has a detection for Driver 1 Key and Driver 2 Key. Honda has been doing this Driver 1 and Driver 2 thing for like a decade, as I can remember the Touring model for the 05 Ody has this feature.

Rogue Hybrid SL AWD

Image
just cleared a best this weekend of 37.6 mpg, 2016 AWD, fully loaded with bikes and gear, about an hour and a half on the road. Non-hybrid.

typically see anywhere from 28-33 mpg on my commutes (as stated by DIC when I shut the car down). Usually about 32 mpg sticking with the "fast" traffic on long rides.

Lifetime average via DIC of 27.0 mpg; the short trips around town / to grocery store / etc., which is spot-on with the EPA estimate published for the 2016.

Not at all anything less than pleased, for what this vehicle is.

If you want an accurate fuel consumption per tank - yes. Reset: MPG/MPH/Miles traveled/Elapsed time. The onboard MPG calculations are not that accurate. I've been tracking actual MPG vs onboard MPG over 2 years and I'm finding the vehicle calculations are about 5-10% higher than actual.

On the 2017, the "1" is a long lasting number. It resets on it's own at some point, after the millage rolls over some number, not sure exactly what, or you can reset it manually. The "2" is the current trip since you started the car. Use the up/down instead of left/right to switch between 1 and 2 for the average MPH, time/distance, and MPG screens.

So, if you reset them all, then drive they'll be the same. Stop and drive some more, now the 2 is only the second drive and the 1 is the total of both. On a long trip with stops, if you reset at the start, 1 would be overall and 2 the current leg.

I think of it as 1 is the ongoing average since the last roll over and I never reset it. While 2 is the current trip, usually checking while I'm commuting to work. It's not perfect, but close enough for me to know if I'm trending up or down.

Have posted this before but I'm back again. Problem is worse. 2016 Rogue SL 2WD, 50,000 miles. Zero performance issues except that hwy mpg continues to drop. City mpg is acceptable. I had an Altima before this one and didn't get close to hwy estimated mpg so I was prepared to not get the 31 mpg advertised. Let me preface with I have always gotten a good as, and usually better than advertised mpg on every other vehicle I've owned. I manually calculate mpg on every tank of gas on every vehicle I've owned for 15+ years. This Rogue is supposed to get 31 hwy. For first 6 months we got close, 28-29. Not bad. In the past year that has continued to drop until currently the average hwy mpg we get is 25-26 and sometimes as low as low 20s. That's nearly 10 mpg lower that advertised. Driving habits haven't changed. I'm very consistent. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably get your fuel pump and fuel system checked. Also, you should probably calculate the MPGs mannually, by dedicating either Trip A or Trip B for the mileage, as the on screen one is incorrect. Maybe, you are putting in bad gasoline, so you should consider switching gas stations. Also, how many RPMs do you drive with?
