The mileage will get better as the engine gets broken in. Try pen and paper calculation, those computer calculators are rarely accurate. I have two vehicles with them a Rogue and a Caravan both are typically off 10% or more.

Could be your driving style. I have a 2016 SL and I am averaging 28.7 MPG and I track it via Fuelly. I had been getting 30 mpg but with the temperature dropping in my neck of the woods so has my mpg. I was running mine in Eco mode as well for awhile, we went on a 250 mile trip with A/C and 75mph speeds and I still managed to get 29.9 mpg. You can check Fuelly.com to get an idea on what others are getting. I did replace my stock air filter with a K&N but other than that it's stock.

My wife and I just finished a trip of about 1000 miles and averaged 32.4 mpg. It was a combination of expressway (74 mph) and B-roads (58-68 mph). No use of ECO or Sport mode, A/C on the entire time, using cruise control whenever possible.

Our 2016 has just under 3000 miles on it.

We use ECO mode and do about 50/50 split of city/highway. Our actual MPG is more like 23 to 24mpg average. And that's with very very easy on the throttle usage, also using cruise control when possible with auto-climate control turned off. For example, on one of our latest 120+ mile trips (95% freeway) we averaged 25mpg using cruise control the majority of the time.

Is something wrong with our car or did Nissan more or less lie about the MPG ratings? How did they ever achieve the 26/33 mpg?

What irks me about it, is that my 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon (AWD and turbo'd) gets 25mpg average and I drive it hard, it's also rated for something like 18/26mpg. One of the main selling points of the Rogue was the MPG, which helped it win over some other options we were looking at. But now with 9k miles I figured the MPG would be looking a lot better. My dad has a 2015 Rogue SL and gets 28+ and he does not baby the throttle like we do on ours.

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with ours. Anyone else experience low MPG on their Rogue?

How many miles before it gets better? My MPG readings are paper calculations. We keep track of every mile in a gas/fuel book. Our average has been going down since we bought it, but had a slight uptick once we turned off auto-climate control. Still, we are averaging around 24'ish and we are trying really hard to be easy on the throttle, keeping the usage in the 'green' zone on that fuel dashboard screen. Our Rogue's computer shows as 0.8mpg higher than actual.

I honestly don't know how we could use less throttle in our Rogue. In some cases we are so light on the throttle (keeping in the green zone) that we cannot even reach a full 60mph/freeway speed (wind resistance I guess, is more powerful than the light throttle usage trying to keep it in the green).

Reading through this thread, I'm really starting to think something is wrong with ours. Although fuelly.com shows 25'ish average for the 2016....which also seems really low since it's suppose to be 26/33. We keep a record book of every single gas fill up and mileage has been decreasing. We actually hit about 32mpg on the drive home from the dealership when we bought it, we've only seen 30+ once or twice since then on trip, but our tank average has been 23/24'ish.

Bought 2016 Rogue SV and always drove in eco mode
The fuel efficiency is coming way high around 11.9 - 12 l per 100 km. Have driven 1200 km till now

Is it high enough to take it as a concern?

My 2016 Rogue SV AWD with about 1400 km on it was averaging 9.8 L/100 until it got really really cold out. Now I am at 10.0 and 10.1 L/100 km at times using ECO mode most of the time. So far I am pleased with the gas consumption.

Just filled my tank and calculated mileage of 14.86 litres per 100 kilometers (-15C.) compared to july 9.1 litres per 100 kilometers( 25-30C.) Temperature makes a major difference. Also the onboard computer gas mileage estimate is only just that...an estimate. You still have to calculate your mileage the old fashion way for accuracy.

I suggest that everyone track their mileage through the gas tracker/fuelly app/site. The community of data there will give you better answers to your questions. The population under Rogues shows most owners getting 22-27 mpg and you can look at the subsets to see how much difference there is by trim levels. There is not an easy way to sort by AWD vs. FWD, but the data is in there.

My 2014 SL FWD with 33k miles gets 24-25 mpg with roughly 55% of my miles being city miles. This is well below what was advertised at my time of purchase (26 city/33 hwy). Based on the sales numbers I should probably be getting 28-29 mpg based on my usage.

Most of us have different driving styles, which obviously affects mileage. Breaking in also affects this and having read through thread I don't see an "average" break in time. Is 1,000 a sufficient point to begin thinking "this" is what I'll probably be getting in the future. Mine has 800 miles on it, and comparing what the display says to what I calculate with pad and pencil, it seems to be hovering around 24 -25mph. Hopefully it's not really broken in yet and it will continue to improve..I'm just curious to what most people consider a breakin point.

Thought I would share this. Granted, conditions were pretty darned good, 20 mph tailwind, ICC set and following semi, running 100% 87 octane (no ethanol).

2016 Rogue SL FWD. After about 10,000 miles got a sudden dramatic drop in hwy mpg. Went from 30-31 down to 26-27, sometimes as low as 25. City mog is still good. Maybe just winter blend gas??? Help please!!!

Your original post had two totally unrelated topics, so they've been split so they can be addressed accordingly. In this case the mpg issue has been merged with an existing thread on the subject. You'll find lots of useful info in the previous posts. BTW, when was the last time you checked the breather filter? Oh, and yes winter blend fuel will reduce your mpg's.

Thank you. New to this. Yes we have checked that. Cleaned the fuel system and air filters. It has just under 24,000 miles on it. Nothing has helped. I guess I'll chalk it up to winter blend tho I've never had this problem with previous vehicles. And hope for better mileage again in the summer

Its definitely slower off the line, but seems OK on the road; where and during what type of traffic is it best to use this ECO mode? Whats the groups results on their MPG vs the standard mode?

THANKS! George

Have you checked the MPG in standard mode vs eco? It is pretty slow off the line in ECO...............

My training/reading on how to get the best MPG has always been slow/steady pedal opoeration- like you have an egg under your foot on the go pedal, but in ECO, I definitely need to press the pedal more and faster if I dont want to get run over. Not sure IF this works to improve MPG, at least in town? Someone else mentioned that is didnt feel SAFE to him as evasive moves were hampered. COMMENTS???????

Not sure if the '15 has the mpg visualization on the dashboard like our '17 does but i have tended to coordinate the best pedal pressure with that little "visualization" to try to keep my mpg in the optimum range. Really never drive the thing in sport mode.

I too am trying to figure this out as well as I feel the Rogue isn't living up to the stated MPG it's suppose to be getting on paper. Driving in NYC, half in city and half on highway.

When I had my 2014 Rogue, I was actually getting better MPG with the Sports mode on all the time. I was actually getting averages of 21-23 MPG with Sports vs 19-21 in non sports mode driving. Now with my 2017 Rogue I feel the Eco Button is actually giving me worse MPG. I started off using ECO all the time but was getting 19 MPG. Now I'm trying a combination of ECO while driving in city or slow moving traffic, Sport when on open highway, regular for short bursts of speed such as getting on bridge or Moderate highway traffic...so far it looks like its working for now as I'm getting 21 MPG, I'll try Sports only later on.

2012 Honda CR-V AWD - MPG - 22 city / 30 hwy

Careful driving with ECO mode ON.

No that's not the issue. Vehicle was well past break in period when the mpg dropped. Now that summer blend gas is here again my highway mpg (city was never an issue) has picked back up somewhat.

I think the only way I can beat this is by driving down a looooong hill with a 50 mph tailwind.

I think it's either me that doesn't still understand how the car's MPG computer works, or if the car's MPG is corrupt. Our 2016 Rogue SL has roughly 34k on it and it still shows 28.2 MPG. Most of the city roads here has a speed limit between 45 MPH to 50 MPH..We took the car multiple times to South Florida and was driving around the 70-75 MPG range, which should have increased the gas mileage. Granted, I don't use the ECO, but I use the SPORT mode frequently.
