I've been watching your posts and it was making me think there must be something wrong with my Rogue. I want to experiment before I take any action with my dealer. Thanks in advance.
I go to the one on grandview hwy and rupert st. and I always use the self serve pump on the farthest side away from the gas bar cashier and behind.

my driving style. * On initial start i only idle for 30 seconds before i drive * car is in a garage so no need to de-ice.* I usually do a lot of city driving around 5-15km each way. Then on the weekend I drive on the hwy for around 30-60km. * I try not to go passed 3000 rpm and I cruise around 1,500-2000 rpms. * on the high way I usually do a max of 120km/hr but i typically cruise around 100km/hr * On initial start I try not to turn on the heater until I see at least 2 bars in the temperature display and then I turn on the heat* on initial start I immediately turn on the rear defogger if its icy or foggy.* In the summer I turned on the AC immediately

I dont see why you would be impressed with my mileage as I myself am not impressed by it. I am still waiting to get the promised EnerGuide Estimate - City (L/100 km): 9.4EnerGuide Estimate - Hwy (L/100 km): 7.7so I should be getting at 70% city and 30% hwy a 9.1 L / 100 km but sadly I am not getting that mileage so I am still waiting for the engine to break in

Until the engine is fully warmed up, it runs quite rich... and a lot of unburned fuel gets exhausted out the tailpipe. Also, the CVT does tend to run in lower gears until fully warmed up. Add in city driving + short trips and you have the perfect recipe for poor fuel economy. My best guess is it will improve during the summer when the warm up times are much shorter.

Have you done a long trip and calculated the individual fuel economy for the trip? Might be worth a try.

BTW, most of my driving is done in the country at speeds less than 90 km/h (55mph) and most trips are a minimum of 30 minutes. I have never gotten anything worse than about 10l/100km or 23.5 mpg. I feel my driving habits and patterns have a huge impact on the good fuel economy I get. I have no problem getting 28-30mpg (8.5- 7.9 l/100km) during summer.

I'll reiterate philipa_240sx's points.

Before you get too discouraged, consider that you are possibly in the worst fuel economy patterns of driving.

1) cold starts and long warmup2) possibly low tire pressure3) winter gasoline4) very short city driving

The range of mileage I've been getting is anyway between 7-12 L/100km (or 22-34 mpg).

Even despite the 'winter blues', when I'm on the highway exclusively, I still am getting great mileage. Wait until you can drive it on the highway for 2-3 hours and see how your mileage is then.

I'm in the same situation.

Since 2 weeks, the temperature is better, so no remote start, no defrost, slow driving before the car heat up. I drove slowly, 110km/h on the highway with cruse control and I'm still getting 14-15L/100km.

Look like my 2.5L decide to change to be a 3.5L V6

Anyway...consumption is horrible.

2010 S AWD

Tank 1 20 MPGTank 2 20 MPGTank 3 24 MPGTank 4 20 MPG

Tanks 1,2 and 4 are mix of city and country road driving in upstate NY a lot of miles with snow on the roads. Tank 3 was half like mentioned and half highway at 70 mph. My Rogue is a 2010 S AWD with 360 package. I am hoping that MPG will improve when the weather warms up and summer gas is available. All reading done via fill the tank and divide the odometer reading.

That's pretty good mileage for less than a 1000 mi. I have an 08 SL FWD with approx. 5600 mi. and my mileage isn't so good. The best I've seen on the on board computer was 28.? but that was only temporary. I fill up every time the tank gets to 3/4 full, and I do make a lot of short trips for the most part. But I did the same kind of driving with my 98 King Cab 4cyl 5spd. manual and I was getting about 25 mpg mostly city driving. The KCAB had about 52K mi. when I traded it in on the Rogue in Nov. 09; I had a company car when I was working why my mileage was so low. I'm sorry I didn't keep it now. Other than the sound system I'm really not happy with the Rogue been in the shop three times already, not for routine maintenance. Once for the gas cap, 2nd time was tire monitor lite (can't believe the monitors are that sensitive to the tire pressure took almost 45 minutes to get the lite out), 3rd time for the factory bulletin regarding the CVT re-programming that took 1/2 a day at the dealers; no improvement, it still doesn't run any better and the gas mileage is the same.WISH I HAD MY KING CAB BACK!

On my second tankfull, I went 400 miles on 15.5 gallons. That's about 26 miles/gallon, and I have a 2010 AWD Rogue.

On my first tankful, I went 440 miles on 16.7 gallons (I was on fumes at the end - dumb me!).

I will add some more details. I probably drove 80% highway and 20% city, but some of the highway miles were stop-and-go (part-and-parcel for driving in the DC area). I did not use my air conditioner, since it has not gotten anywhere near hot enough. I was also able to use the summer gas blends, I think (I am not sure about that), so I did not have to contend with the 10% ethanol mixtures that are used in wintertime in the U.S.

How over inflated are your tires? I'm scared to inflate mine past 35. The sticker in the car says 33psi. That seems too low. I get great gas mileage on the highway, around 27, but when I drive in town it drops to 18/19...

Mine are inflated at 42 psi with Nitrogen and no problem so ever.

You have two things to consider:
- The maximum inflation number indicated on the tire itself: Never ever go over this limit or you risk to burst the tire. On the OEM Continental, the limit is at 45 psi, that is why I put mine at 42 and I use Nitrogen like that the pressure doesn't increase much with heat.
- The recommended inflation indicated on the car: It is a compromise decided by the manufacturer to give you the best handling, comfort, fuel economy, etc...

Since it is a compromise, it is not perfect for fuel economy and comfort and handling. So, if you are OK to lose some comfort and a little bit of handling to get better fuel economy, you can inflate them a bit. By experimentation, you will find what fits you best.

For your information, with my winter tires, my tire pressure is at 33-35psi, as I found the handling was too much degraded and was limit unsafe. For summer, I find to have still a good handling at 42 psi and my wife doesn't complain having lost comfort.

Hope this helps.

How high would you use with regular air? Our temps are running 90 degrees F. I'll bet the tires would heat up fast on the highway.

When inflated with regular air, hot tires increase pressure by about 3-5 psi max, even in warm weather.
So, you could inflate them to about 38-40 psi if you want to stay on the safe side.

Don't forget there is still a margin beyond the 45 psi limit of the tires, but what is the point of pushing the luck?

Only averaging ~23 mpg with 70% highway/30 city. I'm disappointed to be honest. I expected 26 mpg combined.

Depending on your driving habits and mileage, this could vary. Most Nissan's also don't achieve peak fuel mileage until +5000 mi on the clock.

Myself, I normally average between 25-30mpg. Mainly Highway (65mph) and rural roads (50mph).

Rogue Rogue, I think you live in BC correct? 10l/100km is not bad for that amount of city driving, especially in hilly areas.

I just refilled and the results were the worst MPG I've gotten since owning the Rogue. 23.5 mpg.
Still, this tank was 100% city, with max A/C on for every single mile. I'm really not unhappy with milage.

Hello,

Well the milage is a little lower than I was hoping for, but not to bad for all city driving-- my commute to work is only 6 miles (but its stop/go/traffic light/stop sign/you get the point...) got 18 MPG
and just took its first longer trip of about 300 miles and averaged 28 MPG (and that was light country roads going about 60 MPH)
I only have about 800 miles on it so far, and I am hoping the city mileage will improve as I learn the CVT and get a better feel for the car.
Overall I am happy with it!

Last tank netted me 8.4l/100km or 27.7mpg. About 30% city and 70% hwy. I have 63,000mi (105,000km) on the clock.

Noticed gas gauge was at 3/4 full today so I decided to top my Rogue off. I had 87.5 miles on trip meter and it took 7.9 gals to top off. Thats 11.075 mpg! See my past post, 2 post back. Got 20 20 23 and 20 but now the 11mpg. Car is always garaged and at my work can see it all day so I can say no one stole any gas. Car seems to run flawless just as always. I don't get it. :frown: PS I have 800 and some miles on the car.

I'm not sure why that is, but every car I've ever had (27 and counting) has done that. I'll bet if you average the short tank with the previous full tank and the one that comes next, it will end up being consistent with your previous experience.

Just turned 3000 miles on the '10 Rogue SL this past week. So far the mileage is 3082 miles / 144.8 gal = 21.28 mpg. The single tank best was 25 mpg (all highway, 70-80 mph) and the single tank worst was 18.2 mpg (all city, temperature over 100 degrees F, AC on max all the time).

1st Fill Up - 322.1 miles / 14.8 gallons = 21.7 mpg = I was hoping for better :(
Low fuel light came on at about 310 miles - had 2 bars left to empty (1/8 tank remaining?)

2010 Rogue S360 AWD
Roughly 50% Highway miles / 50% city miles
Temps outsided were 85-90 so AC was on most of the time
Average hwy mph roughly 65-70
Average city mph roughly 35-40

Just curious if anyone has noticed a difference in mpg when using high octane vs. lower octane?

Hi there,

I just ran a full tank of premium 91 octane fuel through my Rogue vs. the usual 87 octane and there was no difference whatsoever, I actually got about 1mpg worse mileage but I was driving in wind and pushing it a little harder than usual I think. The only reason I use premium is because they were out of regular and I got it for the regular price, but I guess in addition to higher octane premium supposedly has more additives to keep the engine and fuel system clean and prevent build-up, but I honestly can't say how significant it is and if it's worth the price premium.

I took a trip down to Reno a couple of weeks ago. Elevation ranged from 80 (yes only 80) to somewhere over 8500 with several climbs from 3-5000. The AC was on 90% of the time.

Stats:
1065 miles
38.519 gal fuel
27.65 mpg
28.75 best single tank (421 miles on 14.642 gal.)

My first full tank gave me 320 miles (mostly city) with a little AC on the whole time. Is that good or bad?

320 sounds about right, depending on if your car had the tank "full" at about 15.9 gallons, which comes out to over 20 mpg. Maybe some thanda pani in the radiator will keep it running smoother.
