Well when I first recieved my vehicle. I had 13-15 MPG on the onboard computer with the first couple of tanks. I reset the onboard computer for the MPG computation so I can start anew. Now I have been getting 22.8 MPG in city. My highest was 24.2 MPG but 22.8 - 23 MPG has been my norm lately. I have around 2800 miles presently on my odometer.jeffmetanna wrote:Currently I have about 400 miles on the meter, and this is my 3rd fill-ups already. My in-dash monitor currently reads 16.4 MPG. I drive about 70% local & 30% highway. I've never seen it go up more than 17 MPG.
So what do you guys think?
Not to worry. Give it some time, it will get better as others have reported. I'll admit I was worried when I first got my 2009 FWD. I experienced the same disappointing results as you when it was new. After 5 fill ups my best result was only 19MPG. However I've since had my first oil change and my Rogue now has 3800 miles on it. We just returned from a highway trip (with the A/C on for about half the trip) and I calculated 25.5 MPG (the dash computer registered 27.1) This is my best MPG yet Per my gas log the MPG in my Rogue has been slowly creeping up (about two tenths of a mile per gallon) with each fill up.jeffmetanna wrote:... after reading some of your postings, now I'm deeply concerned that I might have gotten a lemon.

I would consider that mileage a little on the low side, but others have reported those numbers too. I along with many others have found that the CVT mileage is ENTIRELY dependent on how you drive. Any weight to the accelerator and the engine rev's up relatively high and does not fall down for some time, but with an extremely light foot, the vehicle is capable of some great mileage.jeffmetanna wrote:Currently I have about 400 miles on the meter, and this is my 3rd fill-ups already. Yeah, nothing kills good mileage faster than -30 degrees Celcius, but at least we aren't getting the -58 (with windchill) like Edmonton.philipa_240sx wrote:Unfortunately it won't improve much till spring as we are now using winter gas formulations, idling more, etc.
Are you saying you have only put 3 tanks of fuel in your Rogue so far? There have been reports (myself included) that it can take at least 5000km or more before the fuel economy will settle down. There are several reasons for this:rolade01 wrote:Well I wonder how many people are havig the less than stellar fuel efficiency that I am. I will be taking this up with my local service department to find out what it could be.
I usually do short trips between 5 to 20 kms. 90% of my driving is in the city - stop and go if you will. Surprisingly traffic in Vancouver now is not really bad even with the Olympics in my area, but of course traffic lights are abundant. I do run out to the suburbs every weekend and get some good highway time though.philipa_240sx wrote:Finally, what type of driving do you do? Is it mostly short trips less than 15 min? Lots of stop and go traffic? Both of these will severely impact fuel economy.
