I'm glad to hear the surgery went smoothly. Although I dont know Stacey personally, she seems like a strong woman and one who will fight till the end and never give up. Women like her are a role model to me I'm keeping all of you in my prayers.

I have had my fair share of good luck with the lord lately, and am more than willing to express some of my prayer onto Greg and Stacey. I hope that she pulls through this and recovers quickly and completely.

I apologize for the late delay, I've had my fair share of bad luck this year and last. I lost my mom just this past September, she was only 48. She had heart problems. Now, nicomoms in trouble, we can't lose two in less then one year. I'll definately ask god to help this one. Take care Greg, same goes for Stacey, best of luck to both of you.

Just remember that everything happens for a reason and I'm sure that whatever you guys are going through, you were built for... just make sure that you yourself gets enough rest, she'll be as good as new in no time.

Greg, sorry to here this. My prayers are with you and your family. My wife's father and my father both passed from cancer and both our mothers have had some form of it too. One thing you might want to consider is going to Gilda's Club. http://www.gildasclub.org/ They are a support center for people and family members suffering from cancer. My wife and I currently volunteer there. I don't know if they have one in AZ, but I'm sure you can find something similar in your area. It always helps to get together with people that are going threw the same problems you are to help you in your time of need.

Good to hear that she is fighting the doctors to get out of post-op early! That is a good sign!

Greg, I am truly sorry to hear the news. Your wife and family will be in our prayers. I know what you are going through. My wife is a cancer survivor, 10 + years in remission. I hope in 10 more years we will be able to cheer the same thing about your wife.

If Nicomom is 1/3 as strong as her reputation she will make a speedy recovery when finished with her chemotherapy.

The chemo will make her feel weak & tired before she starts to feel better, so just her remind her that with each treatment she is closer to removing this sickness from her body. Then she will be able to regain her health and return to normal life activities.God blessDavid

I read most of this Wednesday until my internet quit on me. Didn't want to respond late but anyways, glad she made it through the surgery. From the way she sounds with the doctors, maybe it won't take long for her to make a full recovery from it.

My mom has to have surgery once every year until there are no more cancerous poloyps (not sure if I spelt that right) in her colon. Good luck to you NICOmom and my wishes are with you and your family.

Couple updates:

zerothread?id=111326

Stacey's recovering slowly but surely from the surgery... She's still undergoing a lot of tests, and is battling a lot of nausea as she resumes eating. She started back on light amounts of clear liquids yesterday (broth, juice and jello), and has spiked a fever a couple times... So far, all her tests have come back OK though.

The latest word is that she'll be released from the hospital on Tuesday or Wednesday. From home, we'll be working on getting her strength and weight back up so that she can undergo a very aggressive regimen of chemotherapy in about 2-3 weeks. She'll be undergoing the chemo every 2 weeks thereafter.

Her oncologist, according to my research, is very well-known and is one of the best in the country at what he does.

The idea is to use the chemo to fight back the cancer in her liver to the extent that somehow, hopefully, it can eventually be addressed with surgery. It's gonna be a long haul, since this type of cancer isn't really "curable" (like some other types).

But if anyone can fight back, it's Stacey. She's proving to be a real warrior.

I can't say enough good things about all the people who have sacrificed time, money and energy to come alongside us and help us through this difficult time. Your prayers and kindness are more appreciated than you'll EVER know.

gonna make her some ribs for a change?

the chemo is gonna be the hardest part for her though

it's ok, I bet she'll look really hot bald.

I couldn't ever fathom having to go through anything like that...I'd probably crack. She can probably kick my *** at armwreslting too.

we're not the only ones lookin' out for you guys though.

keep us updated big guy.

good to hear shes recovering Greg. Didnt we tell ya shes a tough one. like i said, always stay on the good side when shes out of the woods, cause if cancer cant take her down, i'd be scared to leave a pair of dirty underwear on the floor or to leave the milk out.

Yep - She's a spitfire all right....

Kicked me out tonight, so it'll be the first night she spends at the hospital alone. I spent last night at the hospital (their cots suck) with all the best intentions of keeping the disturbances to a minimum. However, as soon as I laid down I slept like a rock, so I wasn't much help at all.

But her nurses have been awesome - God has certainly put ALL the right people in ALL the right places.

Speaking of which, Dan has done an INCREDIBLE job managing things in my "absence", and I'm forever in his debt.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, it certainly lifted my spirits today (which was a rough one)...

Doc has revised her "go-home" date to Tuesday or Wednesday. I've printed a copy of this thread for Stacey to read tomorrow.
