Greg my prayers are with your family. Keep your faith strong. God is testing you all the way to rock bottom. When he sees you follow in nothing but pure and utter faith He'll pick you up by your boot straps and carry you home. Here is a poem I think you all should read. God bless you.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamedhe was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path ofhis life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the verylowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,I love you and I would never leave you.During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Greg, you and Stacey both know wish nothing less than the best of luck to her. It almost seems unreal that she can get sick, she's so strong.

I look forward to seeing the both of you guys again at the Nopi Nat's, because I *know* both of you will be there, in good health.

Sorry to hear about NICOMom. The girls still talk about her from the night at the races.

I live close by. If I can help, don't hesitate to call me. You're only a few blocks away.

If it's in my power, you got it.

Now I wish I had a chance to hang out with you and Nicomom while I was in AZ two months ago. Guess it just means I'll need to make another trip out! I think it's safe to say that you are a heavy favorite in Nico(and not just because you're the boss, but because you're the coolest cat around), so you know all 27,000+ of us Niconuts will be pulling for you and Stacey. You both mean alot to us and we will all do what we can for you. All you have to do is ask and we will be there.

God bless Greg and Stacey.

This message goes to other Catholics of NICO:

Pray through the intercession of the late Pope John Paul II.

What terrible news greg... My thoughts and prayers will be with Stacey and yourself! Keep your head up buddy, if she's anywhere near as strong as everyone says she is, she'll pull through just fine Sounds like good news on the colon and hopefully the liver will respond positively to chemo treatment as well!

Hi all!

I'm reading this and I'm just astounded at the outpournig of caring and genuine concern...

I come home from the hosptal tonight to shower and rest, completely exhausted and mentally spent... I find a fleet of NICO cars in front of my house. You guys had fed the kids and kept them company while I was at the hospital...

Typing through tears is teh suck.

Quick update - Stacey came through the surgery like a champ. She woke up fussing at the doctors, so her spirit isn't broken.

She's been in and out of awareness this evening and is resting comfortably tonight. Her doctor said they got all of the tumors from the colon, and like Nick said, it looks like the cancer is pretty entrenched in her liver - so we're nowhere near out of the woods. He's prepped her for chemo, which will begin as soon as she's strong enough to start.

We have a busy day tomorrow of meeting with doctors, and it looks like we're gonna be in this fight for the long haul.

Stacey said to send her love to all the NICOnauts. She hasn't seen this yet, but I'll take my laptop to the hospital tomorrow to show her.

I'm gonna try and get a bit of sleep and will attempt to update sometime tomorrow.

We love you guys.

Keep strong Greg. It's nice to see so many members pitching in with support both on the net, and on the homefront.

I am sure many people are wondering more about colon cancer and the treatments of it. For anyone interested in learning more.. http://www.ccalliance.org/abou....html

I will also be praying for the Oncologist. We'll be praying for wisdom and success in his/her treatments for Stacey.

Another quick update while I have a minute....

Oncologist met with us this morning... he explained that even though the cancer is in her liver, it is still called "colon cancer" (different than "liver cancer") that has spread to the liver (weird, huh?).

Anyhow, in 2-3 weeks she'll start chemo, every 2 weeks for 2-3 days.

Since the cancer is pretty well-dispersed through the liver, transplant and bisection (removal of the tumors) is not an option.

We are gonna have to beat this the old-fashioned way. Prayer, technology, healthy habits and good attitude.

Stacey took a pretty good walk this morning, so she's tired.... She's fighting like hell to get better fast (bugging the doctors to release her early) so she can dive into the chemotherapy all the sooner.

She's braver than I am by far.

More later, love you guys.

I'm really sory about the bad news but trust me she will pull through. Cancer is somthig that affects EVERYONE it might be your mother, father, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, uncle, grand parents, people you know or your best friends. But sooner or later everyone is affected by cancer and it might be for a couple of months or even years. And everyone has to stay strong. Because it is what your actions are that will make the difference. This is somthing i herd a while ago "A positive attutide and laughter is the best medicine." I might not know you to well but i can say i do feel for you. My grand father died 3 months ago from stomache cancer. The doctors gave him 2 months to live yet with a possitive attutide he lived for 7 months. We are all here for you, may it be people you dont know or people you know very well. I will keep you and your wife and kids in my prayers during this trubbled time.

Nick
