UPDATES:

SOLD

10/9/08:- Decided not even to open the bad block to avoid further BS with Tiger Auto. - $800 block was being sold by Russ at JNR Motorsports, posts on 240sxONE lead me to believe he left the country- Found a cheap engine seller, JDM of Miami. They said a complete block and head shipped would be $1050. Let's hope this one works

10/1/08:Pulling the block and taking a look inside soon. Rebuild or buy an $800 block.... decisions decisions.

Compression is terrible: Cylinder 1: 65Cylinder 2: 135Cylinder 3: 50Cylinder 4: 30

----------------------------------------------PARTS LIST (Prices Shipped):

Car: $700Engine (jdm tiger japanese): $22783" Cat-Back (lokakech): $1453" CATCO High-Flow CAT (askme4parts): $174Header: $111Sportmaxx (XXR) 002 Wheels (re86grinder): $400Godspeed Coilovers (advan_racing): $750RFL BOV (craigslist, but eBay): $40FMIC with piping (just-intercoolers): $208Down Pipe (just-intercoolers): $69A-Pillar Gauge Pod (glowshift): $43(legit autometer gauges for b-day)Electric Fan (autocrewgarage): $26

I'm pretty sure thats it ---------------------------------------------

Exhaust:Sounded good til the day it went into the shop. Never ricey.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...latedh ... Definitely recommend

Header:Didn't warp or crack or leak or anything, just a minor discoloration form the heat that was easily polished out. Definitely recommend.

High Flow CAT:I dont have anything to compare this to, but its less restricting than a regular cat, so I'd recommend if you dont want a test pipe.

SR20 Engine (Tiger Automotive):Based off of my personal experience, and my experience alone, I would say only deal with them if you can pick up the motor and have it tested within the warranty period. I'm in the process of fighting for my money back.

Godspeed Coilovers:They look good (Review soon)

FMIC:Looks good, and fitment was ok. One bracket had to be extended but it came with the pieces to make it work, and you cant even notice it being off center by about an inch. More to come.... ----------------------------------------------

I made a thread before intro-ing the build a little bit, if you missed it... zerothread?id=320472

since this thread the car has gotten paint to fix the fading and slight mis-matched red:

also, the interior has went from completely stripped to looking normal with carpet and backseat:

and a "custom" headliner:before:after (terrible pic):

I also just finished the s14 seat belt install too

My plans are to to a red-top swap with all the stuff from eBay, kind of a review of eBay products, and also cuz I'm short on cash. I had life planned to have the swap done by now, but financial problems force me to put off the swap until late July. However, I'll get the stock KA motor running until then.

Now let's start the reviews... of the 1 item I have so far

Catback:

Box (FedEx Fault ... C-):

Packaging (Amazing! ... A+):

Product (Sex ... A+):

AMAZING shipping and contact, seller (lokakech) contacted me with shipping info personally, not a paypal usps email, but a personalized fed-ex notification with shipping info. it arrived in 6 days, right on time, with no product damage but a hole in the box (FedEx fault) on a FedEx home delivery truck, not the regular fedex trucks.

So far so good with the exhaust, awesome price, looks good, test fit seemed good (will tell soon), quick ship. I HIGHLY recommend this seller

stay tuned for fitment pics when my next product comes in (CATCO Hi-Flow Cat):and vids within the next week

thanks for tuning in NICO, I really appreciate it

so you paid more for a cat, than an entire catback exhaust... you're crazy! Why did you buy a high flow cat?

the cat purchase was a funny one, it was like, well about this time in the morning and i knew i needed a cat to pass inspection, they'd kill me for a test pipe in MA, and at the local auto stores the only 3" in/out cats were 16" long like for a truck. so i jumped the gun n bought it, i now regret it, hell, 3 mins after i regretted it, but whatever, i have my cat, it'll fit and i wont get ticketed for a test pipe.

life just can't be easy. i think there is going to be a law passed soon to remove emissions testing from ODB1 so that'll be to my benefit.

no regular cat cuz i have 3" cat back and the 3" cats around me are big for trucks so i went with that.

no no no ebay "coilovers." when i do suspension it'll be from ebay, but a legitimate brand, whether tein coils or skunk2 springs and kyb struts.

No doubt. askme4parts has some good stuff for 240s. BTW, Catco cat is about an inch shorter than stock. I put it on my car and whole exhaust system was twisted due to short Catco cat. I have stock exaust system.

your going to love the sound on that catback, although cheap, its amazing.listen here!!http://youtube.com/watch?v=EWOEVQGrXvE

i recommend a resonator. when jamming on the gas the sound gets a little raspy, im hoping this will lower the tone when i weld in my resonator.

are you sure it wasn't the weld job that was done to it? i got my catco from 240sxmotoring already pre-welded and it fit perfectly with my greddy cat-back. i even compared it to the old cat to make sure which side was up and it was dead even in length.

So whats up with the reviews on ebay parts, ( in general to all other users who doin the ebay build)? I am always lookinn on ebay for stuff, but i get kinda sketchy on all the china parts being all cheap (inexpensive). Very tempting, i wanna jump in, being because it's perfect for my budget. hahaI guess my question has to do with quality...is there anything being compramised?

My exhaust is off of ebay, it was 3in (i wanted 2.5) but it came with a resonator installed. I think it sounds great and i get compliments all the time. Looks good, my 240 gets very dirty and it drenched in mud when it rains around here and the pipes/tip still shine up like new. Fitment was spot on as well, the only thing was that I had to get different bolts to actually bolt the system to the cat because the bolts they sent me were way too big

oh and one of those sweet bloww off sound things until the swap!!! no way haha. my turbo is with the sr so no on that, the gauges will be glowshift, idk about oil cooler, as for body kit not right now, id rather have my car running first.

idk about that, i personally would only buy brand name suspension, im a little sketchy about hubs... just safety stuff im nervous about. as for like exhaust, intercooler its just pipe yo

yea, some things come in different cuz they sell so much of one thing i assume so it just gets swapped, and same with the bolts. minor things that with a price that low, the $2 at lowes to get new bolts is no prob

wow... thanks. have you had personal experience? if you have do share, since this is the point of the build, also to stay in budget lol. if you haven't had experience and you're nervous about buying so you must bash eBay cuz its so cheap it HAS to be bad, then tune in, this thread is for you
